Tyrese Maxey on Embiid: “It means everything. For him to do that for us and his team. All we can do is appreciate him… the city of Philadelphia should really, really not take him for granted. Much love to The Process.”
I wonder when Tyrese Maxey will make a cameo on Abbott Elementary.
The whole team does at this point. Everyone watches it.
Last time a Nick Nurse team load managed their superstar in the regular season led to a chip
they didn’t load manage embiid though. Dude literally couldn’t play.
His appendix tried to kill him like a week before the playoffs and Embiid still found a way to play.
34-12-6 in Game 7
Hopefully the playoff choker narrative is put to rest after this. Tired of defending dude, he deserves all the praise at this point.
Also fuck Jaylen brown for attributing the loss and Embiids performance to “flopping.” The refs were absolutely favoring the Celtics today
The playoff choker narrative was so disingenuous because it omitted just how cursed he has been with injuries right as postseason starts. In fact 2020 is literally the only postseason he wasn’t injured and they weren’t even contending that year.
2018 (first playoff run) Injury: Orbital fracture + concussion Impact: Missed first 2 playoff games, played in a mask after
2019 Injury: Left knee tendinitis + Gastroenteritis Impact: Missed game 1 Raptors series, clearly limited
2021 Injury: Torn meniscus (right knee) Impact: Missed 1 game, played through it hobbled rest of playoffs
2022 Injury: Torn thumb ligament(shooting hand)+ Orbital fracture/concussion Impact: Missed first 2 games vs Heat, played masked and limited after
2023 (MVP year) Injury: LCL (Right Knee) Impact: Missed 2 games across Nets/Celtics series, clearly slowed
2024 Injury: Recovering from meniscus surgery(left knee)+ Bell’s palsy Impact: Played, but severely impacted (couldn’t even blink so had to get eye drops each timeout)
2026 Injury: Appendicitis leading into playoffs Impact: Missed first 3 games
Yeah and I understand if that makes him take a hit in all time convos, because at the end of the day it unfortunately is a consistency across his career and he hasn’t been able to achieve much success in the playoffs because of it. But if you are discrediting his ability because of some of the most untimely injury luck in NBA history, you are not to be taken serious.
I just wish he had been like most superstars and maybe taken it easy rather than force himself to play through shit. Would have been a lot better for his long-term health. At least take it easy until in the playoffs, dude would play through a lot of shit in the regular season too. Though ultimately the onus is on the medical staff for wrapping him up with duct tape and allowing him to play every time
I just wish he had been like most superstars and maybe taken it easy rather than force himself to play through shit.
100%. Also it’s not just that he plays it’s how hard he plays. He only has 1 gear. I forget which postseason it was but I remember the first game coming back from 1 of his knee surgeries he had a massive dunk where he landed awkwardly (he rarely goes for dunks usually) and I’m like dude seriously needs to chill and just go for the safer layup. But he just doesn’t seem to be able to take the foot off the pedal.
Lmao you’re probably thinking of 2024 vs the Knicks. Threw a lob off the board and dunked it himself and landed terribly, fucked his knee up even more. Bless the surgeon that took care of him and Kawhi cause they should both be either retired or in the Celtics Shaq/Hawks Vince Carter phase of their careers right now
Big former embiid hater here. Today I put it to rest. Only one round but it was a legacy game for him. He put the team on his back and had a great game. And sacrificed his entire body for the dubs. It’s definitely was a redeeming game.
Ay I appreciate it. I am unfortunately close friends with a lot of Embiid haters and watched the game with them. Safe to say they all did a 180 after the game and are now either indifferent towards Embiid or are legitimate fans of his game now, which is more than I could ever ask for
remember when 6ers fans were calling nurse a fraud and worse than doc rivers lmfao
Embiid puts his body on the line for philly and gets hate in return. His mvp and 3-1 comeback on the celtics after his surgery should make him a philly legend, we’ll see if hes treated like one
He literally gets MVP chants every time he’s at the line in Philly. The hate is from other fanbases and the national media
There’s a lot of Philly media that hate him. Fuck em
Philly media is a collection of jealousy, pompousness, and tardation.
Yeah. I go to college at CMU, and our media here is terrible for the 76ers. I was getting dogged all night since I’m a Celtics fan at a sports bar.
Wasn’t it a local reporter using Embiid’s dad as a callout?
Anyone who actually pays attention knows he puts it all on the line. Not his fault he’s injury prone.
Most Sixers fans love him, it’s the dorks on social media who hate on him
Lol he comes back with half a knee and missing appendix, puts up the most points on the team while everyone else shits the bed and gets blamed for not getting his team involved. He wins and apparently it’s because of flopping
He already does before this.
We already treat him like one, there’s morons in every fan base but the majority are obsessed with him given the fact he’s basically the second coming of AI
Yeah, for Embiid to put everything over his health is insanity. He’s a straight up winner, no matter the years that they fell short of the final goal, he’s a winner. That’s more than what I can say for some guys out there.
Also, VJ Edgecombe, solid draft pick, good star potential, and he doesn’t back down from a challenge. These three might make a little noise the next few years.
Also shoutout to PG13, we still love you in OKC, for what you gave and what you brought us after.
I look forward to watching them more in this second round.
Thunder should love PG until the day he dies and long thereafter bro 😂 he set y’all the fuck up
Lmao yall better love PG dude gave yall a dynasty lol
PG13 and Dame are the two deities fighting that created the universe the thunders story takes place in
Truth.
Yeah, for Embiid to put everything over his health is insanity.
100%. And it’s been that way every single postseason except 2020 and they weren’t even contending that year.
2022 Injury: Torn thumb ligament(shooting hand)+ Orbital fracture/concussion Impact: Missed first 2 games vs Heat, played masked and very limited after
2023 (MVP year) Injury: LCL (Right Knee) Impact: Missed 2 games across Nets/Celtics series, clearly very slowed
Give us back McCain!
Embiid was the key 🫡
They don’t call him Joel ‘Do a 180’ Embiid for nothing
They call him Joel “Sixers are better off with Bona” Embiid cause they’re fucking idiots
Joel “Jaylen brown thinks the sixers are better without him” Embiid
You could even say he was….the process
#11 said there’s no plan for him though
[removed]
Never forget that a good chunk of nba fans fell for a 4chan racist hate campaign
Literally a huge part of creating incels
Context?
context please
Joel was demonized yes he foul baited but people acted like that was all he did when he was near DPOY level while being a dominant force on offense. Genuinely one of the highest peaks if it wasn’t for injuries.
Sixers Thunder Finals would be their 9⁄11
Pick it up quickly boooooooooooy. Undefeated still!
I love that this is also the top comment in this post right now
“If he plays he plays, but we aren’t gonna gameplan for him’ - Joe mazzula
Proceeds to start Luke Garza on him in a game 7
The one who Devin Booker thought was traded for Anthony Davis
No gameplan exists that can stop him right now anyway.
That’s not true. Push Maxey into Embiid’s knees.
No need to get crazy, Wemby and Gobert would shut him down. Even a few stretch guys (Scottie, Chet possibly, he’s too thin but long enough to make it work) could likely do it, if only bc he’s not healthy like he was in his MVP year
He’s a great, genuinely one of the most skilled bigs I’ve ever seen, but he’s far from unstoppable at this point in his career
Queta seemed to slow him down a lot today.
Seriously. He was great, but he was only truly feasting when the Celtics were guarding him with a late pick rookie guard in foul trouble.
A good big guy beating the Celtics is far from a reason to pretend a guy is unstoppable. Embiid is a true HOF level guy, but he didn’t win this game by beating guys at his level
I’ve never cared much for Embiid but was a huge fan tonight. He played his heart out respect
Bro rocked. Played hard, gotta love it
I used to play like Embiid
Embiid using that towel from Maxey is so going to be talked about on No Dunks
I pray for Markel because they fuck up his shot
Who’s “they”?
Also Markelle
People forget he looked great in Summer League then forgot how to shoot by the time preseason games stated
Dirt bike
Joel Embiid is the Wonyoung of basketball. Love them or hate them, they dominate
Lmao I see what you mean but Wemby is a better comp lol
lmao bruh wtf is this, jennie is CLEARLY the better comp
AD suits her more
shit… you right actually
Dominate the chic fil a drive thru that’s for sure
Love the effort and heart from Embiid. Also: this is Maxey’s team now, no doubt about it.
It is absolutely still Embiids team, but its getting closer and closer to a 1a/1b situation
Quick reminder for those 12 years and older in New England that 30 ml is the standard dose for Nyquil
god damnit am I starting to like this Philly team? Have Lowry and Nurse transformed them into something likeable
I don’t understand why Joel doesn’t wear a knee brace, it looks less stable than a tv dinner stand.
The WIP callers and Jakib Sports watchers don’t appreciate him they just trash him like front running clowns
Calling Embiid “The Process” is interesting.
“The Process” (Hinkie’s leaning hard into tanking, which resulted in getting Embiid) has been hated on so much.
But now twelve years later (Sixers drafted Embiid in 2014) it’s got this almost nostalgia around it.
I genuinely thought he was holding a teammate when I saw the thumbnail
