Maxey and VJ are great and (knock on wood) should be great for like the next decade, but having both of them + Embiid somehow being at 80% + PG occasionally deciding to turn back the clock isn’t something that will last more than a year or two. Once they beat Boston, I said this is their shot. Cavs lost. The Knicks were absolutely talented enough to beat the Pacers last but choked when the Pacers stepped up. This year they still have Philly, with a healthy Embiid is a top team, and possibly the Pistons or Cavs still ahead, who they never beat.

We had comparable top end talent to Indiana but they had so much better depth than us, especially when you factor in how little Thibs played his reserves. I just think Indiana that year was really good hence why they pushed OKC to 7. This year I don’t see a comparable team in the East who can do that

Also don’t forget how we barely got past an inexperienced Detroit team. That series is what made me lose hope last season. Most our wins against them went down to the wire whereas this year we blew out the Hawks during all our wins.
