Mismanagement that is likely to happen to various teams due to the current CBA and fear of the second apron. While capable FOs like the Thunder’s will just continue to thrive.

Welcome to being a small market. That’s why I’m going to appreciate it that Jokic stays, when random ESPN say they need to “blow it up”. Even established franchises like the Spurs had a rough patch. Players get old and the new apron system makes it harder to pay own guys.

Murray is younger and better than Khris/Jrue/Dame were post championship and they still do have some valuable dudes on reasonable contracts (AG, Cam). Definitely difficulty in getting back to true contention though.

When that post when up about “questioning” Jokic’s legacy for missing the playoffs his first three years in the league I knew it was getting ridiculous.

People are entitled to their own opinions but a lot of the recent hate I feel like is karma farming.

Why does taking accountability absolve him of his play? That’s not an uncommon thing to do.

Jokic did the right thing by taking accountability. I blame Jokic stans for constantly comparing him to top 10 and top 5 players, and getting him unnecessary hate for losing early in the playoffs

I might be tripping but even the title alone says exactly what he means. The gymnastics to misunderstand him is surely Simone Biles level.

The problem is that NOT all teams are built to absorb injuries to certain players. Denver has always struggled without Aaron Gordon. Just as the Warriors are a below .500 team without Jimmy Butler and one of the best teams with him. Some guys lift all boats.

Admittedly, I am oblivious on the Nugs, but what is the consensus issue? I’ve never been a believer in Jamal Murray as a premier #2, but this year he was excellent. Christian Braun’s contract kicks in next year. Is it just poor bench depth positioning from the front office?

I’m not a believer in Adelman, at all, but I can’t imagine he’s in the long term future for you all.

Tbf Murray this year was arguably even more consistent than jokic for a change. Jokic’s injury definitely didn’t help but you expect better consistency from jokic, who’s been as consistent as you can ask for the past handful of years.

Since Malone days? lol, lil bro, I’ve been watching this show since the 80’s. No one in Denver has had a knack for team assembly except for the dude who built the champion and then it’s destroyer.

yes, AG and JM have real health issues that will only get worse.

But there is really no way to get anything like equivalent value to the Nuggets for either guy, because they are so well suited to Jokic. JM is the best 2 man game partner for Jokic, other than guys who are All-NBA first team, and AG is the best perimeter and rim defending 4 who does everything else at a good to great level that they could get.

I don’t see how any trade scenario is not a downgrade.

I think the last part sticks out the most. Yeah Denver was bad on defense and was a sieve but the way Minnesota was able to stop their offense was the most alarming too me. They should’ve been able to outscore the Pups B-team, but they blew up their offense early and often, as they rely too heavily on Jokic and Murray and just the cutting of other players.

So the fact that they didn’t use any of their bench players is also glaring. They fired Malone because he wouldn’t use none of the young players. I would say Adleman was worse. Were was Pickett, Strawther during the playoffs. Then them getting pushing Russ out the door without replacing his playmaking was a bad deal because Russ played good with the young players and have them confidence

Mark will also sometimes just dead ass make the bench players win a game. Bro will be like “na if you lose this it’s your fault Shai isn’t bailing you out after he gave you that lead”

Yeah I mean OKC is just the best run team in the league. Maybe my spurs or Boston could contest but other than that.

The reality is that the current CBA is really starting to punish poorly managed teams that give out massive contracts to washed stars and/or role players.

There’s really only like 7 guys that deserve a non-rookie max contract and probably another ⁷⁄₈ that deserve rookie max contracts. If you’re spending more than 20/yr on a guy who doesn’t actually win you games, then your team’s future is likely compromised.

The biggest problem with the Nuggets is refusing to pick up good defenders. It’s not a shocker they had the 8th ranked defense and won 57 games in 2024 when KCP was on the team.

I don’t know if i agree with this characterisation. I think jokic fits in any system. If you could pick any player in history from any era, and replace jokic with that player, would the nuggets be a better team?

Him being a bad rim protector is valid, but defense is a team effort and it’s not him undoing their schemes or anything like that. They collectively just are not very physical.

It’s this sub’s fatigue. People started to hate Jokic because his fanbase pushes weird agendas. Jokic is always a down-to-earth and chill guy who gives respect to his opponents. Remember when he won a chip, the first thing he did was actually hugging it out and shaking hands with Heat players.
