One benefit of wearing white at home is you get to see a variety of jersey colors at games. If the Celtics wore green at home all the time, every home game would be green vs white or black unless they went color vs color. Wearing white at home you get more variety in the away jerseys

My experience is that it’s harder to see your teammates when surrounded by people in the same color. This was a pain in youth soccer, it might be evem worse in a basketball arena.
