it was actually pretty remarkable how high of a shot quality he got considering he’s pretty much the second option

It was a gamble that worked for the last two games for Udoka, putting Reed on him because Rui wasn’t taking advantage of the size, AND Reed could try to gamble for steals knowing Rui would be a silent observer for the most part and giving up on taking any shots that were even a little contested.

Rui is unfortunately a bit like that. 

 This game Rui did do more to punish Reed, he went to shoot and made decisions off the screen on the short roll. 

Took him a couple games to adjust to Luke and then he ignored Rui was our original sharpshooter.

When his feet are set it’s automatic. When he pump fakes on three point shots then dribbles for a middy I get anxious lol but he’s wet on mid range too

Nobody wants this. Rui is an insane 3rd or 4th option. Would start on any team in the league due to his efficiency.

Not counting points he is like at the bottom of the league for forwards when combining the rest of his stats. Lights out shooter but he can’t do the other things that are needed on Luka teams.

Rui has his problems but offense is not one of them. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to call him an elite roleplayer on offense. He doesn’t force bad shots, but has an insanely reliable jumper from basically every single area of the floor. He does one thing well, which is shooting, and does it at an elite level. He’s been better defensively this series. There’s a reason he’s always the guy fans rope into trade packages. He is valuable

Rui really improved after his summer training with Bron. Before his trade to LA, hw was known as a liability on defense.

The problem with the Lakers is not that they don’t have good players, it’s that they can’t defend for shit. Their bench is also a bit sus but their starting line up or LeBron, Luka, AR, Rui and Ayton is pretty good and I’m pretty sure this is backed by stats. Rui I think comes off the bench sometimes but that’s still their main rotation.

He did that this season, also a dagger in the last minute two games after.

I think Rui was out for a while and had low trade value. They also traded for Kuzma thinking he was gonna be better than Rui

He wasn’t this back then. He barely shot threes. He was an ISO-mid post scorer mainly. He’s completely overhauled his game to fit around Lebron and AD (at the time) and eventually Luka and AR.

He’s the poor mans Aaron Gordon for the Lakers
