The Wolves actually match up surprisngly well with the Spurs because of their length and frontcourt depth. Honestly, Randle is a great look for Wemby. If the refs let them play physical like they do in the playoffs (think Caruso getting away w/ fouling the heck out of Jokic), Randle can just body him in the post and stay attached on the perimeter.
Plus, Randle and Naz Reid absolutely feast on the spurs smaller wings, between the bully ball and crashing the glass for offensive boards, theyre too much to handle also, for whatever reason, Ant just has the spurs number. I mean he looks super comfortable scoring on them (if hes healthy).
Defensively, Gobert can hold his own vs Wemby even out to the perimeter but still do his thing roaming the paint (if he needs to). Then youve got McDaniels and Shannon who are absolute pests on the wing theyre definitely going to bother Fox and Castle. Aaand don’t even get me started on Naz Reid vs. Luke Kornet. If Kornet is playing vs Naz (if Nasz goes smallball center) Naz is going to abuse him with his lateral quickness and perimeter shooting and is tough enough to contest for rebounds.

Gobert has gotten cooked by Victor in every game he has guarded him since his rookie year. What are you talking about?
On top of this, Rudy gets played off the floor a LOT against the Spurs because his inability to space the floor and Victors ability to effectively guard 10 feet in front of the basket forces the wolves to live an die by long middies/3 pointers. I would bet my bottom dollar the Wolves are going to go small ball/Naz Reid at the 5 for most of this series and try.
In terms of rebounds? They had 2 more offensive rebound than us in the first game with Victor, and in the 2nd game the Spurs had 6 more offensive rebounds.

You know this is not based on any logic but I’m just getting a vibe from this Minnesota team that if Ant comes back healthy by game 2 they could make the finals. I just am really feeling a fire from them you only see from series contenders.
The Spurs are going to be a lot tougher with the lack of ball handlers. Last game, Denver put a ton of pressure on the ball and Wolves turned the ball over a lot. Today, Adelman simply didn’t do that and the Wolves got good offensive looks. The Nuggets have terrible rim protection and an equally bad perimeter defense. In the spurs series you have 9⁄10 perimeter defense and 11⁄10 rim protections. I think it’s going to be ugly but I guess we should never count out the wolves
100% and if I had to put money on it I would not choose the Wolves. However, I think they will play with a level of physicality the younger spurs, especially the guards have not seen before. The question is whether they can space the floor enough til Ant gets back.
I think people are too optimistic about Ant. A hyperextension and bone bruise is nothing to scoff at.
Yeah I’m pretty sure I saw 2 weeks minimum. He usually heals fast but his knee has been bothering him for awhile now so there is no reason to think it’s going to magically get better in 2 weeks after being hurt for rhe last month basically.

Idk, from about February on a lot of teams tried taking the “mug them” approach and our guys played through it well and admirably. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think a physical game script benefits Castle and Harper (because it’s their preferred playstyle) way more than it benefits the people who try to use it against them.
Wemby vs Randle is a bit of a question, I do think Randle defends him quite well, but I also think that Randle won’t be able to be the offensive option the Wolves will need him to be if the Wolves also send him to be their Wemby stopper through most of the series. Wemby has generally performed fairly well on offense against Gobert and Naz since he was a rookie, so I don’t think the Wolves will use them as his primary defensive matchup all too often

I just can’t see him being anywhere near 100% if he comes back. His first injured knee clearly affected him and he was far from himself early in the series. Add another injured knee on top of it and I’m not all that optimistic we see him again this postseason, let alone a healthy version of him.

Honestly, Minnesota for the last few years always looks like world beaters in the first 2 rounds and then just completely craps out in the WCF. Also, it looks like Ant had a very similar injury to Jokić earlier this year and he was out for a month so I wouldn’t expect Ant back anytime soon.
It’s sucked. They seem to get exhausted by the time they reach the WCF. Cant happen during the playoffs, and while this year is unlikely with our injuries, I’m glad they’ll get more games to keep experiencing playoff ball.
Hopefully now he can get surgery on his wrist and build back up his conditioning after his knee injury.
This is the first time in years we will actually have a long summer to rest and get right.

I’d feel better if Tim Hardaway was making the money Christian Braun was making. He was absolutely embarrassingly bad and it wasn’t even injuries that were for his poor play, he has no IQ every time Jokic passed him the ball in transition he’d dribble backwards to the 3 point line. Adelman should be let go just for continuing to play him and not even giving Strawther a chance.

oh believe me nuggets fans feel the same way. or at least i do. he was useless most of this series and in the regular season after coming off the injury. it’s such a shame too because he was pretty good last year. this year he just plays scared. if we can’t trade him i hope he spends his summer working his ass off.
