[Haynes] There is a “good chance” that Anthony Davis is traded once again before the beginning of the 2026-27 NBA season.
Luka needs a lob threat
Would be the funniest timeline
Bro why the fuck not
Fuck it
We’ll do it live!
This one knows ball
Fuckin’ thing sucks!
Send it
We ball
The funniest timeline would be some sort of Rui for AD trade. Sending Hachimura back to the hell hole he escaped from and returning AD to LA.
So basically…Rui for Luka pretty much straight up.
League in shambles.
League’s been in shambles. We got Pau for Kwami Brown. We acquired Wilt, LeBron, and Kareem for nothing. We got Kobe for an elderly Vlade. We got AD for Lonzo Ball. We almost got CP3 for rehab Lamar Odom but for Stern’s veto. We drafted James Worthy number 1 using another team’s pick. We win a championship almost every decade. But we still got idiot Celtics fans in this thread proclaiming it was all incompetence and dumb luck just because the one Westbrook trade didn’t work out.
It’s a combination of… let’s call them league favors and competent asset management.
And really I don’t think we can blame the lakers for Nico Harrison being a lunatic. If the Celtics were offered the same deal (which for us would have been like White, PP and pieces or something equally absurd) I’d hope we’d take it and run too.
Absolutely. I’m by no means a conspiracy theorist, but when you look at this list it’s hilarious to claim it’s just the Lakers being excellent negotiators lol. There’s clearly some shady shit going on
I’m with you on the not blaming the Lakers as an org for running with it tho. If I was offered to be God’s favorite I’d take it in a heartbeat too
We acquired Wilt, LeBron, and Kareem for nothing. We got Kobe for an elderly Vlade. We got AD for Lonzo Ball.
1 truth, 1 straight up lie & 3 big exaggerations,
Wilt was traded for two all stars, LeBron signed in free agency, Kareem was traded for the 2x blocks leader, the 2nd overall pick (retired after 4 seasons to focus on Jehovah Witness things) & the 8th overall pick (Bucks drafted Junior Bridgeman [RIP] whose number they also retired). Vlade was 27. AD, who intentionally tanked his trade market & forced his way to LA, was still traded for Lonzo, Ingram, Josh Hart, the 4th overall pick, 2021 1st, 2023 swap, & a 2024 1st.
I was scratching my head at the Vlade comment too. Just because he always LOOKED like he was 40 doesn’t mean he actually WAS 40. Did the poster forget that Vlade’s most impactful years came AFTER he left Charlotte in Sacramento?
We aren’t saying it’s all incompetence. We’re saying that the Lakers were born on 3rd base and have been blessed with FAs wanting to play there, idiot franchises making lopsided deals with them, and the good fortune of having competent decision makers when good opportunities arise.
I agree with this and recognize that us Lakers fans basically never have to worry about being “stuck” the way small market teams do. It’s a privilege for sure.
I’m just not sure Boston fans are in a place to make that statement haha but in a way it makes sense.
Imagine getting Lebron and Shaq as free agents, plus having Dwight and AD demand trades to LA, all in their primes, but still feeling this inferior to a franchise whose biggest FA signing was Al Horford.
Nailed that horford signing though
Kwame took years off my life.. dropsie symptom scrub
Elderly Vlade? Not justifying the trade or anything but Vlade was not old when he got traded.
yeah vlade played well for them, and kobe was 17, so the lakers took a pretty big gamble on him. it paid off, but they still gambled.
Vlade was 28 when you traded him and had a strong career after. Obviously still one of the biggest steals of all time to get Kobe for him, but he was far from “elderly”
Best we can do is Bronny.
Bonny has a player attached.
Yeah, Dalton Knecht, the wizards should thank us
Bryce?
Is that like money laundering but with Anthony Davis instead of money?
AD for LeBron who says no?
LeBron is a free agent. Unless you meant Jr.
AD for Bronny! I think even LeBron Sr would take that trade.
I’m kind of morbidly curious to see what will happen to Bronny once his dad retires. Seems like the answer has generally been that he’d be dropped by the NBA like a hot potato, but I guess he’s had his late-season moments, FWIW.
He is 39% from 3 this season too, if he can bump that up just a bit more he’s got something solid to offer from way down the bench.
For at least a few years the PR would be worth having him on the end of the bench
He’s been decent in the playoffs can’t lie
I never said it was a realistic trade
Lakers sign and trade Lebron to Cleveland
Cavaliers trade Harden to Houston
Rockets trade KD to Washington DC
Wizards trade Davis to Los Angeles
Warriors trade Curry to Golden State
Full unc shuffle gets everyone back home
Warriors trade Curry to Golden State?
Cap relief. Light years ahead.
Hey that was my fav part of the whole thing
This would be fitting to retire with the wizards just like MJ
Who says yes? Lol
Portland landed lillard back. Only thing really stopping this is lakers front office and owners
on that note i actually really want AD on portland if the price is right. Would be a gamble for sure but if dame comes back and is like 70% of what he was and we grab AD for grant + picks, that’s a very scary team if they somehow luck into a healthy season
Dame wasn’t even 70% of what he was when he was with the Bucks. Much less after an injury that is notorious for sapping speed and explosiveness.
AD loves setting screens & rolling so I bet it would be a better fit with dame.(compared to giannis) Just has to give up that PF dream
What would they send to DC?
We only have a couple players under contract this offseason, but could potentially do something like Vando and whatever picks for AD into cap space
But it’d immediately fuck us over in so many ways, there’s no way we do it
Bro that’d be like Omar stealing Prop Joe’s shit and then selling it back to him for 20 on the dollar… shameless shit.
buy for a dollar, sell for tew
I mean ever since the Luka trade I’ve felt AD is exactly what the lakers need ironically lol especially if they are gonna continue on the Luka + Reaves path.
Lol could you imagine
Golden State is probably in the market for an older, injury prone discounted superstar if Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis leave.
Back to the Lakers?
I’m down, LeBron take the minimum let’s run it back
Failing backwards instead of building with a solid front office. The Laker way!
Leave us alone we like going back to our exes
At least you’re self aware.
Never had a choice.
We’ll take your exes too
I can never hate Smart.
I’m happy for him even though his new girl is ugly, at least he’s happy.
Lebron will never sign for the minimum if we’re being fr
Just replace Pelinka with Nico real quick, then y’all can have AD back 👀
If LeBron takes the minimum then Bronny is getting a raise lol.
We’ll give you AD and a first for Luka, that’s fair right?
That would be such a Fucking ridiculous trade.
Throw in Max Christie and you got it.
Lowkey I see it being Toronto
Oh god please it would be the funniest fucking thing ever
“surely his injury concerns and health will be different with us”
It’s all about praying he’s healthy at the exact right time like during the Lakers run.
Some teams do have better medical staffs than others
I love AD’s time with us but he has the worst luck when it comes to random injuries and there’s nothing a medical staff can do to prevent that.
edit: someone actually made a list of it lol
Over his career, AD has had 51 unique injuries and 296 in total
see link for the last 19 cause it won’t let me post the full 51
Surely it would be cheaper to just make dentures, but for all the bones in his body.
So just put him in the Weapon X program.
This can’t actually be real.
How can this motherfucker even walk now?
I have a couple blown disks and a csf leak in my back and this dude has about 200x my injuries and yet is still playing pro basketball while I’m in bed cranking painkillers all day.
Foot injuries always killer for big men
damn. its like MJs records and awards except for injuries
Still they have doctors not wizards, no pun intended.
All you need is another international plague to give him a few months off right before the playoffs, with all games to be played 30 seconds away from a hotel he cant leave.
Getting a month off before the playoffs sure did help.
The season was suspended for 141 days. Homie had almost half a year to rest from the regular season grind.
And it took an impromptu 3-month in-season break for that to happen
Just got to do what the blazers did with Williams. He played 5-10 minutes a game during the regular season and 20 in the playoffs
He literally just talked about wanting to win an MVP and liking the organization
This guys career is cooked
Has he heard of the 65 game rule?
Man he played some 70 games in 23-24 and i thought yess Finally something is going his way but since then hes played like 70 games total
I mean he had a fairly minor injury when we traded him that he tried to rush back from once he got to Dallas to sort of prove that haters wrong about the trade and that tanked his 25 season and then this last season I’m sure he could’ve played more games but no need once the trade happened lol
Sometimes you need a certain amount of delusion to be a successful professional athlete lol
I think the problem with current AD now is he’s also declined significantly individually. He certainly wasn’t a top 15 player for the Mavs
Then you add on the obvious injuries concerns and it’s wraps. The injured were easier to look past when he was a bonafide top 10 guy
Wizards can’t be having talk like that in their locker room
Nah they’re changing lottery rules, now we’ve gotta be mediocre and get out of the top four lol. So come on down Trae and AD
In that same interview, he also talked about wanting to compete for a ring this year and that its nearly impossible for a rebuilding team to compete that fast. He’s just paying lip service while he’s with the Wizards so he doesn’t tank his value (any more)
He wouldn’t be winning mvp with the wizards though. If he’s truly chasing awards and another title then it makes sense for him to be somewhere else. The problem is his enormous contract, $60m is a tough one to swallow, especially for a guy that’s played roughly only 70 games over the last 2 season, so I have no idea who would take a risk on him. I’m surprised the wizards took him from us even to just flip, trading him is not easy.
I’m sure there’s a huge market for a 33 year old who’s played 71 games total over the past two seasons
Could get a whole Luka for him
Maybe if Luka were fat or something
Luka for AD? Dream on pal
As a sixers fan, do you really think?
I don’t take those numbers seriously because he was deliberately held out because he was too good.
In a 50+M per year contract with a player option lol
whispers quietly trade Poeltl for him
AD you are a Chicago Bulls
Several of them too
I believe the plural is actually Chicagos Bull
That’s where AD always seems to end up in my MyLeague saves (or in Charlotte), it just might be destined to happen in real life?
Predicted programming lol
He is from Chicago
He’s from CHI so that’s probably why
But he’s 1. Broken and 2. A Packers fan, so he can go fuck himself
Actually would be a good ending to his career since that’s where he’s from
Nah he’s a packers fan. We don’t want him.
Chicago and getting hometown players
The real Bulls were the Anthony Davises we traded along the way
Him with Cade Cunningham would be deadly
For 4 and half minutes till he’s out for the season.
But, for real it would be sweet if he was healthy.
I mean, wouldn’t Detroit be the ideal scenario? Barring any roster moves, he’d have Duren/Beef Stew to constantly play the 5 - he’d be able to play the 4 full time where he feels it is easier to stay healthy
duren would be the trade piece
Am I crazy to think that’s an overpay by Detroit?
Would be a crazy piece of business by the Wizards
AD would average the loudest 25 and 12 while being the defensive anchor with everyone saying Detroit found their missing piece. Before you finish that sentence, AD sustains a calf strain and is ruled out for 6-8 weeks, where they’ll fall into the play in as a result. You look and realize this fleeting happiness only lasted 10 games. Rinse repeat
Ya but he’d be somehow frontrunner for dpoy over wemby for those ten games. The bliss is worth it guys. Pick up the phone and make the happen.
What should the Pistons do? I know nothing about their salaries, but Reeves seems like he’d fit in nicely. They wouldn’t have to give up assets to get him. He has the shooting they need, and his weaknesses would be diminished. Maybe he’d even become a better defender within their culture.
He’s not leaving LA, pistons can’t even pay him with duren needing a contract
Him and Kyrie were deadly…….. for 3 quarters lol
Not gonna lie y’all had the AD experience so fast it may as well have been a speed run
That one dunk and then the “I’m here” actually got me so hyped
Still the funniest thing I’ve seen from this whole AD to Mavs saga. xD
I still remember people taking a victory lap at halftime saying the Mavs won the trade
We all saw nico’s vision in those 36 minutes
I mean he’s with Trae Young, that’s gotta be interesting
The injury stuff just scared me too much. No way hes healthy long enough to get us to the playoffs or stay healthy for the playoffs. This was a down year for the east too…. Hali, taytum are commin back/back. Heat will re group, orlando is cleary decent
Luka and AD would be an absolutely elite pairing
For the total of 10 games they’d play together.
That’s optimistic
Honestly makes a lot more sense than Luka and AR, injury risk aside.
I think Luka and AR is a pretty good fit tbh
I think that this young Wizards team with AD, Trae Young and (hopefully) a top 3 pick could be super fun next year.
Unfortunately, they’re going to have to move him for something because it’s clear he doesn’t want to be in Washington. It’s a shame.
He’s been giving interviews lately where he says all the right things. If he wasn’t willing to give it a shot next year, why would he be saying positive things about the franchise? He has the ability to prevent those questions
Contract year coming up.
From a Yahoo! Sports article about his exit interview:
“During exit interviews, Davis was asked if he was committed to playing for the Wizards next season.
“I’m under contract. I love my money,” Davis said via David Aldridge.”
Also, the comments about how they are (paraphrasing here) “a bad basketball team and it’s hard to go from bad to a contender, that it takes time”.
Reading between the lines and taking into account his representation’s reputation, I would be surprised if he wants to be in Washington long term unless they’re willing to give him some crazy above market contract. Maybe I’m wrong and I hope I am!
Probably over the lack of a contract extension from Wizards
How is that clear? He just did an interview saying the exact opposite.
I don’t think it’s clear he doesn’t want to be in Washington, he’s just stating his intent. If the best path for him is to get healthy and play his way to a good trade then I think our interests are aligned. If we get good faster than can be expected… Maybe they align longer.
I think that’s fair. If you guys are able to trade him for more than what you gave up to get him (which was not much), then it’s a net win anyways. I just get the feeling that he’s viewing Washington as nothing more than a stepping stone which is a bummer because I do genuinely think you guys could turn things around very quickly with some lottery luck. Obviously some of this is pure conjecture on my part.
The Wizards are not that bad as their record says they are.
The main issue is the lack of chemistry but this team won’t win 17 games
We have solid starters at 4 out of 5 positions (as of today, the only ? is starting SG) Depending on our draft and free agency we can definitely set ourselves up to be a playoff team.
I’m not opposed to flipping AD now but it would have to make sense. I’m not sure what contender he sees that wants to take on his $60M salary and would give us positive assets. If he stays on the court for a few months and plays well, maybe then a market opens up.
Is it a hot take to think a fully healthy Wizards team can at least make the play ins at around 40 wins?
Fairly reasonable assuming Keefe can actually coach
I think it’s much safer to assume a 35 win range but within the fan base we’re getting pretty excited. Play in next year would feel like a dream to me, but not unattainable if we can gel quickly.
The Wiz will also put the least amount of demands on AD next season. Play 20-25 minutes a night, mentor Sarr, collect $58m. He can even opt in the following year and the Wiz can afford to outright waive him, allowing him to ring chase with any team he chooses.
There are no more bags waiting for him in 2028 at age 35. Use this season to put as little mileage on your legs as possible and maybe you can get another title before you retire.
Worst case scenario if they can’t upgrade in a trade, is that AD is eventually injured and is just a vet leader. For a team like this, I think his contract is okay compared to his value. Wizards are headed in a good direction with youth and maybe attracting free agents imo and I’m an ignorant celtics fan
I really like what the wizards are doing. Digging out of the hole caused by grunfeld/shepard’s incompetence takes time, they have a lot of good pieces and just need a star. If they can’t land one in this draft Trae can probably bridge that gap and take them to late lotto/play in caliber to start. The lotto changes should actually benefit them a lot in theory
I would find it hilarious if the number 1 pick we get is post changes from something like the suns pick swap. Really feels like the universe will find a way to make peak comedy.
The wizards are not rebuilding if they have Davis and Trae. Regardless of what you think of them, they will be aiming for a top 6 seed.
The team is done tanking. The team has had pick protection considerations for past three seasons and are finally clear, so they’re going to try to be competitive. As a fan who watched ~65 of their games this year, they’re a bit better than their record suggests, we were just tanking, and I think we’re done rebuilding, we have our core and hopefully can add that guy in the draft or have one of our young players pop, if we fall to 5.
Jazz and Wizards will be good next season. If you know ball, you know the talent is already there on the rosters. I’m not saying either team will make a run at the Finals, but 6-8 seeds are in play.
They were the two biggest fake bad teams in the league last season.
Y’all better get a top 3 pick because building around Kyshawn or Sarr as your franchise player sounds bleak
Right healthy Trae and semi healthy AD (60ish games) with Coulibaly, George and Saar is a good starting lineup. Tre Jones, Top Rookie, Riley, Bub, Reese. Thats not a bad 10 man rotation.
If they get a top 4 pick i have to imagine they are going for it. They’d have a good enough core if AD stays to make the playoffs
AD is trying to cash checks in the league based on where he was five years ago not today
Come to the Spurs and play as a PF like you’ve always wanted AD
Na, he can be our backup PF/C and play with gobert
If Brad Stevens can pull this off they’ll name the executive of the year trophy after him.
Stevens is gonna be in the Hall of fame as a contributor one day lol
Anthony Davis at the 4 to play alongside Jokic would actually do well to lessen a lot of Jokic’s weaknesses. Not sure how you make it happen, but I’d be all for it.
If spurs can afford AD their defense will be unstoppable for 45 games
We can’t
Suns
To the Lakers for Austin Reaves straight up.
Lakers say no, wait two years and get him anyway for the vet minimum
AD might have failing limbs in 2 years.
Anthony Davis is gonna end up as a buck or a Golden State Warrior.
Jesus christ Tingus Pingus and AD all-boneitis frontcourt
If the Warriors get lucky maybe their days off don’t overlap and they end up with 82+ games of a big man they can play
All these comments make me laugh, you’re trading for nothing, literally. A fat fucking salary for 0 production on the court, you’ll get to see him get some fresh outfits off though.
Future Laker
Nico Harrison will one day pay for his sins
Send him to the Lakers LMFAO
Trade him to the Lakers for Luka Doncic
Trae Young will demand a trade again.
Hes got a nice young core to work with for at least a year or 2 before he makes that descision imo.
Depending on who they draft this year.
Imagine AD playing with Kyrie, Cooper Flagg, and Klay Thompson
At least Danny Ainge traded for Jaren who seems content in Utah
Although AD wants an extension, and Jaren is locked for the next 5 years, but the Wizards should’ve just added an extra first and maybe another player for Jaren instead of street clothes
I see the vision, remove Rui and some shit for AD because of black magic, Lebron signs the minimum and the championship is in reach
Lakers need a big man
This sub is so clueless lmfao
Lebron for AD
Lebron gets to have a better wizards season than MJ
Say it ain’t so
Davis won’t go
Whoops, he fell on the ground
He’s hobbling home
Raptors were interested prior to the deadline. Scottie, CMB, AD front court would be nasty defensively
I know AD is injury prone but I can’t watch Jakob anymore
Tidjane Salaün is an extremely promising young player. Him + a late lottery pick this year would be a great haul for an aging, injury-prone veteran like Davis. Maybe a couple 2nd rounders to sweeten the pot too.
Just a thought!
pick ya up from the airport brother
Pack Rui, Vando and Kleber
Panic Rockets trade for Senguin?!
To Dallas for Flagg.
Hornets would be great, twolves, pacers
Rui + 2 second rounders will happen and you’ll like it
I hate the lakers but it has to happen
