[Highlight] The Houston Rockets defeat the Los Angeles Lakers, 99-93 in Game 5. The Lakers now lead the series 3-2, with Game 6 coming up on Friday.
So many pivotal game 6s. Thunder and spurs fans must be feeling really good sitting back watching all these bloodbath series
lakers not taking tonight was as good for the thunder as facing two teams they should beat could probably be. at most, the lakers have three days to prep (assuming game 1 is may 5th no matter what).
EDIT:
informed the series would start later after tonight’s result
Realistically, you can give both teams as much time as they want to prepare, it still wouldn’t change much
yeah, i mean, okc should be supremely confident they can defeat whoever shows up game 1 in okc.
unless teddy long decides sga gets to go “one on one with the undertaker”
I see the comparisons are eerily similar, too. Teddy is bald and wears glasses. Adam is bald and wears glasses.
Also adds a few days for Jalen Williams to heal
yeah i was informed elsewhere. that’s my bad
Crazy how pedestrian the Lakers offense looks when Kennard, Rui, and Smart aren’t shooting 100% from three.
Rockets had double the attempts and makes. Crazy it was even that close
Lakers had the whistle.
Fr they got gifted so much lol
Reaves in particular, not even prime Lebron gets those calls.
Bit of an exaggeration. Yes they were overperforming from 3 before, but now they’re underperforming compared to their usual selves.
Almost like if you combine the two it’s average? Almost like a law?
Congrats, you just discovered how averages work!
don’t cry because it happened, smile because it’s over
If game 6 goes Houston’s way, shit’s about to get real interesting
I thought it would get boring if Houston won game 6 tho
If it goes 7 Luka comes back for sure right ?
probably not. shams reported yesterday that he would be out for the first few games of the next round if the lakers advance.
would that be enough time?
Not sure but I thought I read somewhere his potential timeline return coincides with around a game 7.
possible issue for lakers is it’s travel day-game 6-travel day-game 7 if the rockets win on friday. i would assume plays better into houston’s youth and athleticism, for whatever that’s worth
If it gets to game 7 LeBron’s 41 year old legs are gonna be cooked but I think the Lakers take game 6 actually. It’s so rare for a team to push it to game 7 after being down 0-3 and the Rockets offense is still disgusting they just hit shots today
yeah, lakers should be favored to win the series with two shots to get one and game 7 at home, even if the travel schedule benefits the rockets.
but i do think lebron has showed his age this series. some of the shots this series don’t have the lift he used to have and he still has trouble getting passed bigger dudes just like the twolves last year
and he still had 25 pts and 7 assists despite all that (tho the former on 20 shots).
We’re about to pay 40m to Reaves. Basically the Jalen Duren of guards. What a travesty.
At least you’ve got Luke Kennard, who presumably showed up big tonight. Now to open the box score and take a big sip of coffee…
Lakers really needa trade him for a Derick Linely type that’s a little better than Derrick Lively
What does the Jalen Duren of guards even mean? Maybe I’m missing something I thought Duren just played an all-nba caliber season on a 1 seed.
It means a good regular season player who doesn’t show up in the playoffs
Reaves hasn’t played well in the playoffs throughout his career, but I don’t think you can takeaway “Reaves isn’t showing up again” when it’s his first game back in a month
Little early to judge Duren or Reaves as that don’t you think lol
Reaves? Yes. Duren has had a whole healthy series and he’s been ass to mid at the best. No defensive fundamentals and the P&R heavy offence they run for him is stifled by the magics big and heavy handed defence. Not a 2nd option at all.
He’s 22, fam
Yes, especially duren since he’s only 22. But Reaves also has a small sample size in the playoffs where he’s supposed to be the guy, and I wouldn’t count tonight since he’s fresh off an injury.
So funny how the narratives flip in this sub - let’s see what you’re all saying after game 6
Rockets in 7.
A young team performs better without Kevin Durant… I’m not shocked.
Always bet on game 6 Lebron
He’s 41. Reaves has to show up game 6 I think
If I had to take a guess, I think the Rockets take game 6 and then the Lakers take game 7, but who knows lol.
I agree with that take. Home crowd will be rowdy game 6
No I hope they show up until the 4th qtr again.
yours didn’t show up at all tonight
But they did in 3rd game
Houston crowd sucks sadly
lets bet
LeBron would break another record blowing a 3-0 lead
Don’t tell me the Lakers with 41 y/o LeBron James will be the first team in NBA history to lose a series with a 3-0 lead
Imagine the Lakers losing to Houston when KD isn’t playing
🤣
KD we don’t need you.
