Someone post Ayton stat line lol he was actually the only good laker
He looked like prime Hakeem out there grabbing off rebounds and put back dunks
Kinda pisses me off that Ayton really decided not to be an all-time great because he’s so visibly bigger than anyone besides Wemby or Embiid while also being incredibly mobile
Imagine how much it pisses me off lol
Every now and then he had some absolutely ridiculous plays on the Suns and it was infuriating that he didn’t do it more than once every two months.
Like the time he got a steal at half court and dribbled all the way to the basket like a fucking gazelle on meth. Or when he had the ball on the elbow, pump faked, drove to the basket and threw down a reverse dunk to avoid the defense.
I still remember these plays because they were so rare. He’s fucking incredible when he remembers he’s ultra athletic, even compared to the rest of the NBA.
Ayton has literally no reason to not be an all time great. Not injury prone, likable, soft touch, can shoot the middy, not a socialite with distractions, a work horse in training, and great measurables.
Like the only reason people were reported to hate him is becuase he was not good when he should be.
Ayton is a bigger what if than many injured people.
likable
Capela-noises intensifies
Slippery hand is one thing my untrained eye notice, but yeah just overall a sad prospect.
Genuine butter fingers
Dude had reported 40+ inches vertical. He would win several all-star selections had he lived up to his 1st pick hype.
Ayton is actually so good when he feels like it
He was great steal at the start of the season. Then he got hurt in the leg, Austin injured, and he ended up losing that mojo for most of the rest of the season.
How do you lose when Ayton does that….
jake laravia erasure
Jake’s needless fouls were a big reason the Rockets pulled ahead and the Lakers couldn’t set their pace.
Jake nearly lost them game 2 by clowning around so hard in just 15 mins.
I was hoping the Spurs would pick him last off-season. Boy am I glad he got paid more to go to the Lakers. We got Carter Bryant instead.
There’s the guy the Hawks traded
We still don’t want Gabe back.
dude is a huge reason the lakers were up 3-0. guarantee gabe would not be a reason for that.
Gabe hasn’t been bad for the Hawks against the Knicks. Not good, but not actively terrible like I was expecting.
Gabe is not often actively terrible, it’s just that he’s invisible out there on the court. He averaged like 3/1/1 for the Lakers in the playoffs.
And like 4/1/1 in the regular season
Kind of the point. Dude is cardioing out there most of the time haha
sure, but kennard’s offense has a much higher “value over replacement” for the lakers than anything gabe could’ve given them, especially once reaves and luka went down.
I barely notice him out there tbh
Only if he’s in a heat uniform
Yup. Had to remind myself that what he did the first 3 games and even most of March still eclipses anything Gabe ever did.
Dude was absolutely balling for us in his last month after a rough start to the year. He just continued what he was doing when he got to LA
I was wondering when his 100% 3-pt % would revert to the mean…
Despite the loss as if it wasn’t on him and Austin
think that’s the joke
woosh
I’d say Smart turnovers more than Austin missing shots
you forgot bron and japan
Dude was knocking down 360 no-scopes early in the series
Didn’t want to be banned so he turned off his aimbot hacks
He’s legitimately one of the best shooters in the NBA when he’s on. Led the league in 3PT% in three different seasons.
Luke is just a weird player, he has like confidence issues or something. When he was a Clipper he would randomly go months refusing to shoot the ball. It was so frustrating because it’s like bro you shoot 45% from 3, just put the ball up.
He also doesn’t really add much in other areas of the game so on the nights where he isn’t feeling his shot he’s usually a net negative. Weird ass player bro. I’ll always be a fan but he should’ve had a better career than he has.
Ultimately Kennard is one of those players where you have to ask yourself: Is it actually possible that after 9 years of playing in the league, he was just needing to go to the right situation to live up to his talent? Or is he just one of those players that will never be able to capitalize completely on said talent? Lakers fans are realizing that it’s probably the latter.
You could replace every Kennard reference with Ayton and it’d be the same lol.
If Luke Kennard had Russell Westbrook confidence, he’d be unstoppable.
Let’s say half, because even Westbook would have been better if he had only 80% of his confidence, and he’s a physical freak.
Hawks also complained about his unwillingness to shoot contested before. To the point people speculated he only wanted to fulfill the shooting percentage bonus for himself.
JJ did trying to coach him into a more aggressive player, but it still hasn’t fully sticking in.
He literally one of the best shooters to ever play the game. He has the second highest career 3pt% of all time, 44.2, only behind Steve Kerr with 45.4.
Somehow, Gabe Vincent returned
Came back to earth
kennard trick y’all man
Those games were obviously fake lol if he could do that all the time he would
Guys been more or less the same guy on 4 different teams, the idea the lakers magically unlocked his potential in year like 9 is just far fetched. He definitely isn’t this game 5 bad but he isn’t game 1 or 2 good just hot and cold streaks.
Yep. But of course when he has a good game (which he has done on every team), the media pushes this: Lakers and JJ fixed him! Very similar to Rui defending Jokic moderately well for like 10 minutes, and the media running with this narrative that LAL figured something out.
really ? i was told by lakers fans that “the media” is biased against them
I mean it was a good trick, it won them 3 games, those wins were very real
Luke cooled down at the worst possible moment. LeBron and AR would be more tired for the next round. BUT. They wouldn’t have been 3-0 if Luke wasn’t hot. Better to be up 3 and have a four times to beat advantage than trade wins.
Get out of here with your reasoned rational arguments and thoughts
Luke “Gabe Vincent” Kennard
Him and Rui in a pump fake contest
Just out there doing cardio
He’s turned into a complete net negative yikes
Cardio Gabe is back⁉️
Gabe Vincent statline I hate my life
Luka Nard Dog
Despite??
I hate these despite the loss posts. It was funny the first few times but now every bad performance is a “despite the loss”
It’s funnier when they drop a shit statline in a “despite the win” post.
Kennard and Smart shooting is not sustainable
I was hoping Kennard turned back into Kennard after the Lakers extend him, oh well
Awful 2 games from him.
Lakers fans actually said this guy was a star 😂😂
Kardio Kennard
lukesanity is over.
1 pts is grammatically incorrect
Do you know what the word despite means???
I thought that said 31pts for a second, but I’m used to these sarcastic despite the loss posts so…
Suddenly the Basketball Gods removed that Luka Nard aura from him 😵
lol
Man, he was trash tonight
4 FG attempts in 31 minutes? He wasn’t even TRYING to score, dude just running around out there
JJ shouldn’t have given him so many minutes tbh
how do you only get two threes up in 31 minutes damn
Streaky white role player has a bad game and gets the sarcastic stat-line postgame thread. This sub, man.
What do you mean “despite”?
he looked scared
Luke CantNard
Cardio Luke
That’s… not what “despite” means
r/woosh
You really think the odds are higher that I was wooshed than this guy doesn’t know what the word despite means?
It’s a running joke in this sub. So, absolutely
He finally remembered what city he’s in. Im telling you, LA is CURSED!!
Great, Kennard turned into Vincent at the worst possible time.
You can’t expect more from him, he’s been this kinda guy his whole career. If he’s not shooting well, he’s a net negative.
He’s one of the reasons why the Lakers were up 3-0 in the first place
How dumb are some of you guys that dont understand the title is sarcastic
I didn’t watch but 4 shots for Kennard seems like hes back to his usual programming. Genuinely coulda been way bigger in the league if he had Dion Waiters mindset.
You can visibly see him play with less confidence
Despite the loss
PT*
Game 5, hard to hold against him given the limited touches.
But Game 3 was not a great sign. He had a lot of touches so he should’ve stayed in rhythm but was already reverting to the mean.
The sextuple-single statline
Luke Can Hardly Score
JJ basically lost his trust in him with ball handling duties and set him back to being the player everyone knew before joining the Lakers. A lot of credit to the Rockets defense they adjusted to him and made him a none factor. Doesn’t help when the Lakers coach loses his trust on the guy either. Should be teaching Kennard how to play through some of those defenses.
Teaching a guy while in the middle of a playoff series isn’t the greatest answer.
You can’t learn to escape amen Thompson overnight
It’s not that serious on the teaching. For example the coach needs to tell Kennard to push the ball if the defender is being overly aggressive. Just little basic shit like that. Kennard usually just stands there while the defender locks him down.
Icarus
They made a game plan around him, and he was missing his shots tonight. I’m not too mad about it though after his performance this series, he had to come down from his shooting streak sometime
Luka Nard
Ayyyy… a whole post for Luke Kennard???!!! Nice. Well worth it what we traded him for.
im new to basketball im more football/soccer. ofcourse playing 31 minutes and having 1 point is not what anybody wants… is this terrible or is this pretty normal? ive watched skits on youtube where people mock players for having 0 points or 5 points in 3 quarters etc. and i know theres alot more like assists and blocks, rebounds etc. My question is, are all players on the court expected to get a decent amount of points? for example in soccer there are defenders who defend the goal, they are rarely involved in attack so nobody cares if they dont score. is it the same for basketball, is there a position that isnt expected to score (or we accept to play 30 minutes and have 1 point)?
Why does nobody know what “despite the loss” actually means?
It’s very obviously sarcastic
why don’t you know sarcasm
Luke’s worst game as a Laker. Now that Austin’s back, Luke’s gotta go back to bench, in role and in minutes.
That’s not how this works, kennard wasn’t the one getting credit for carrying the first three games. The person who was carrying before should be getting blamed now for failing to carry.
What do you mean despite?
I think he’s trying to troll
