He’s basically a perfect #2 on a championship team IMO

When you look at how high the bar is for being the 1st option on one I don’t think his consistent scoring is getting to that level but he’d be a perfect fit next to so many superstars

I mean, I feel like he’s taking that step in front of our very eyes… he’s been the best player on both teams in that series without question.

I agree insofar as I want him to, but Sct plus the next step is basically Scottie Pippen with more offensive skills. Obviously I’d like an MVP candidate level guy, but the bigger issue is that we have a perfect 2nd option (is a good scorer and rebounder, but an incredible facilitator and defender) and we haven’t been able to put a single star beside him

When we drafted Scottie, we had FVV, Pascal Siakam, OG, and all our picks. We managed to turn that into worse players with less upside and more money. It’s so sad knowing that Scottie isn’t likely to be on a contender in Toronto, at least not for 4+ years, bc we wasted picks and all-star+ guys on Jakob Poeltl, Immanuel Quickley, and Brandon Ingram– of which, somehow, Jak is the best so far this round

We do, but we have a trash roster. If we could just cut ³⁄₅ biggest contracts (IQ, BI, Jak), we’d be better in 3 years. We turned some of the best players on some of the best teams (OG and Pascal) into IQ, who doesn’t play and doesn’t play particularly well for 35mil, and BI, who doesn’t play and plays even worse for 40mil, and also traded the  only FRP we got. We also traded an FRP in the Wemby draft when we were actively bad for Jakob Poeltl and 30mil, and won our way out of one of the best prospects ever 

I still think we can win this, but it’s hard to know how much it matters. We certainly can’t beat the Celtics or Knicks or any other team with good shooting and rebounding

Seriously I’m so fucking sick of this bullshit. It’s gotten to the point where if I hear someone talk about some element of a hypothetical matchup that is predicated on “X team being healthy”, I consider it unrealistic. Feels like almost every team these playoffs is missing one starter or major piece.
