[Highlight] Desmond Bane on Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. being at his game tonight:
“It’s special. Those are guys that I spent 5 years with… It’s a friendship that’ll last forever… I’m thankful that they pulled up to support.”
It was cool to see them show up and they are all on different teams now.
I was in Dallas for a couple years during Covid and took a job bartending at Applebee’s when I first got there and worked with an older black woman who was very nice to me. Many of the customers and almost all the kitchen staff were not very nice and I was thankful when I got a better job at a bar in a much better location.
But I lived very near and would go back in for drinks at the Applebee’s on occasion and I went in and found out Ja Morant had been there all afternoon with some friends one day. He paid the nice lady’s rent, left her thousands of dollars and paid for everyone else in the place (albeit it wasn’t many since afternoons were slow) and no matter what I hear about the guy he seems like a righteous dude in my book.
Heard he also paid off some persons medical bill or something
I don’t think it’s something he “advertises” for obvious reasons. But this was someone I knew very well, she trained me when I started and she had issues standing for long periods of time so I would cover for her a lot when we worked together for almost a year. And she was so overjoyed I could tell she’d been crying. Before that time I’d only heard negative stories about Morant and they didn’t sound at all like the person he is out in public.
I heard he choked out a 17 year old
Well, you heard wrong.
Ja seems easily irritable but also generous and respectful at the same time tbh.
Easily irritated on the court when things arnt going right. A kid on the court having the time of his life when things are going right.
Dillon and Bane are healthy and playing well. JJJ will soon be playing for a pretty good Jazz team. I hope that Ja gets traded even if we get nothing in return to go to a system that has a screening big man and some outside shooting.
Ja maybe a meme on social media but a healthy Ja with a healthy team is still very dangerous.
I’m scared he’s coming to the Kings. Not cause of the talent level but because I don’t think we have the team for him to thrive. I don’t think he’d mind the city
Are you talking about this?

Dude that’s totally her. This may be a case of the stories get taller down the line or he gave her a lot more on the side than what this shows. But that’s the Applebee’s on the corner of Skillman and NW highway in Dallas. That place is right on the edge of Lakewood, which is a really nice area, and on the other side of NW highway there’s a ton of rundown apartments so you never knew what you were gonna get through the door.
It got broke into so many times that we had a pool on which window was gonna get smashed next. A lot of the time it was homeless that would just steal whatever liquor bottles they could carry which sucked for me because they made me load all the liquor on a cart and lock it in the walk-in every night. I wouldn’t get out of there until 4:30am on my night shifts.
Really awesome. I didn’t think it was going to touch me as much as it did.
He banked that three in and turned to them saying i called it i called it and they were laughing their ass off
If you ever get a minute listen to the podcast Bane and JJJ did together. Bane talk about how Ja and JJJ were some of the most positive people in the locker room when he got drafted. He talks about how he goes to his college to mentor new players to be positive like that since playing in the NBA can be lonely and too many people focus on their stats instead of their teammates.
The vibes on that young Memphis team when they first sorta broke through were awesome. It sucks that it went south so quickly but for a couple seasons it was exciting with those guys
Yeah it seems like that team became somewhat of a punchline bc of the way their last playoff run ended but they really were a fun squad
Sucks that they kind of did it to themselves. Started talking CRAZY after doing nothing. OKC went the exact opposite route of these guys, and actually won something.
They lost me when they started disrespecting NBA legends for no reason. You don’t gotta bow down to Bron, but caling him old and shit only to get dominated by him, is crazy
I’ll never forget Bron’s face after the And-1 against Brooks
That series went 6 with us starting a literal 6’7” g league center btw. With Adams and Clarke that’s an entirely different series. The team was constantly devastated by injuries. It was ridiculous
Good stuff, thanks for the share on this info mate
It’s just not fair man
It was between guns and ball, and Ja chose Smith and Wesson
are y’all incapable of not being weird about ja
Grizzlies were cooked long before that. Whether they liked it or not, Dillon Brooks WAS the culture in Memphis and everything fell apart once they threw him completely under the bus for the entire team melting down against the lakers in the first round. Once he was kicked they were never the same
Blaming Dillon Brooks (who shot 51% TS or below for 5 straight seasons) instead of injuries is genuinely fucking stupid
Man I feel like it hasn’t been that long since Ja handed Bane his MIP trophy but it’s been four years.
Bane became my favorite player so fast.
Idk why he’s so hated in this sub sometimes
It was when he threw the ball at og. I like bane but he pulls some punk shit when hes frustrated
also short arms
That’s Ruben Bain Jr.
Hopefully central Florida buys into a Bain and Bane advertising campaign
But massive biceps lol
he is a problem child, but he’s my problem child
Twice this season he has thrown a ball at someone lol
he’s got a bit of a history with flagrant fouls when he’s frustrated.
He has anger issues lol
I feel more happy that my Jazz got Jaren, if it means Jaren brings good vibes to teams
Jaren is a great guy for the team and the community.
They at Rachel’s right now eating steak and making it rain 🤣😂🤣
POWER OF FRIENDSHIP IS BACK
I use to really love that Memphis team at one point. Solid group
r/nbaww
That’s love. Love to see it, man.
I loved that grizzlies team
was very cool to see
✊🏾🐻💙♾️
It was real cute
Memphis Grizzlies Dynasty: March 2022 - March 2022 🪦 🕊️ 💔
I’m happy for them as individuals that they’re happy.
Yeah ngl, the deadliest i saw Bane was when he was with the grizzlies and dillon brooks
Bane, shooting from the hip, fires friendly remark about straight-shooter ja morant.
Thank you Desmond for helping me win my fantasy league this year 🐐🐐
Ja thinks he’s going to be in Orlando next season and be the next Penny
I don’t like any of the aforementioned players but I was really happy to see JJJ and Ja on the broadcast. Anyone who has played sports knows how special great teammates can be. I might think these guys are clowns but friendship is dope
I’m crying right now
They’re clapping his cheeks as I type this…
You can leave Ja’s team but you can’t escape the finger guns.
We fine in the East
