Ja Morant points the finger guns after Desmond Bane makes a three
Nice to see Ja and Jaren show up for Bane
$50,000 fine incoming.
How you get fined on your day off
Ask Ja
Where is Ja?
In a Memphis Club standoff
Not a game, not a game! We talkin about bleachers?
Love to see it
That is kinda nuts that these two can be anywhere in the world and they choose more basketball.
Ain’t got nothin else to do
They are just supporting their friend. Dont see the issue.
Wow. Didn’t know the big 3 were still cool
we still dont know that. all we know is Ja is in the arena, pointing finger guns. it’s kind of mysterious
(in)active shooter
Gold
Ja shoots fake guns so much better than he shoots the 3.
Damn you… 🤭
gotta be the best reddit comment I’ve ever seen
Perfection
Glock down defense
I get the feeling he just wakes up in this pose when his alarm goes off in the morning.
Wonder what his alarm sound is
It’s just Paper Planes
No, surprisingly it’s “Boom Boom Boom” by The Outhere Brothers
He’s like the Cactus Jack of the NBA. cactus Jack
He makes that pose at the toilet after he takes a shit.
Either way, that was a solid fingerbanging
This is so wholesome. Still showing up for their friend in the playoffs
It’s great to see that level of support from former teammates! 🙏
Memphis, Utah, Orlando connection
BBQ, Soaking and DisneyWorld
Honestly yeah this is super rad
This actually makes me think Morant might not be the source of ALL the grizzlies problems, I figured JJJ would just be cordial on the court after he left and avoid them all otherwise.
As far as I know Morant has always been really liked by his teammates. I might’ve missed something but I don’t recall him being a locker room cancer. Iirc he also liked Jenkins a lot more than Lisalo and didnt want him fired too so he wasn’t even putting blame on the coach for their struggles.
Ja has done a lot of stupid shit, but his teammates always loved him.
I want to say there were some reports earlier this year about their locker room getting really awkward, but the regular season is all a blur.
bc Ja doesn’t like Iisalo
FYI it’s Iisalo—double i
IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT HIS NAME IS
i am dumb
That’s just due to him wanting to get traded and they wouldn’t get rid of him not because he doesn’t like his teammates as a general locker room problem
Anybody can report anything, doesn’t make it true
Yeah, we all know people who are genuinely pleasant to be around but are also — in their own unique ways — complete dipshits
Ja’s issues as a teammate is more him being an immature and poor leader by example.
He seems fine as a teammate generally.
I feel like that’s been kinda clear for a while people just ignore it because Ja’s character
Its the same with Lamelo, people assume because he’s an idiot off the court his teammates must hate him. People who are idiots in their personal lives are often great to be around!
Kyrie has been the gold standard for this for years now. No one he’s ever played with or been coached by has ever said anything negative about him, at least not publicly. By all accounts, he’s a great guy. He talks about flat earth and Black Israelite shit and creates some really bad optics for himself in the public eye tho.
James Harden
Can confirm. I am highly regarded but fun to be around
Dam. This hit me at the core
I mean folks said the same thing about Dillon Brooks. Maybe instead of the grizzlies problems being every other player, there’s something in that front office or ownership thats stinking it up.
I mean let not revise history. Brooks was gone for a reason. He was fun to watch but he costed a team in the playoffs with some of the worst shooting I ever seen.
Yep. Nobody wants to hear that though unfortunately
It’s literally just injuries
Nah. Dillion was his own beast that was separate from the 3 of Ja, JJJ, and Bane. I’m glad he’s done well since he’s left here but don’t make up things
Let’s have a look, and oh look every season since losing to the Warriors has been derailed by injuries.
Ja actually been well like by his teammates. Luke Kennard said the locker room would be quiet and than Ja would show up and they party. I think the issue was firing Jenkins and trading Bane. After that the team was basically down hill from there.
Everytime it crops up that <insert player here is causing problems> rarely is it beef between the actual teammates. Except KD.
I don’t know, he just pointed a gun at bane
He finger banged Bane
What, you don’t fingerbang your homies?
None of them asked to be traded. I think they all miss that 2020-2023 team just like us fans
Trading bane to save money probably contributed to the terrible morale
Watching the 3 of them choke in the playoffs year after year contributed to my terrible morale.
Ja Morale.
The mid 3
First guy to be suspended in a game involving two other teams
Bro is the poster child for “How tf you get fired on your day off?”
Memphis front office: “You did WHAT at the Orlando game?!”
The only reason memphis cares is because the heat just dropped a 2nd round pick from their 2 2nd round picks offer for Ja
The entire Orlando bench were doing the exact same celebration. Ja just can’t win.
He has a bit of a different history with guns though, right?
Well good thing these are finger guns.
That would actually be hilarious.
Unfortunately, I must admit that this is extremely fucking funny from Ja.
Ja’s grenade celebration and then explaining that it is not a grenade and that actually he is “taking his words and throwing them out there” was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen an NBA player say
That grenade celebration is goated lol, I will forever pop for that
Yea loved it when he pulled that out, love Jarrett Allen’s Afro pick comb celly too, obviously don’t see it very often tho. All time favorite for me is still Wesley Mathew’s bow and arrow, just a classic
Melo’s 3 to the head. That’s my shit right there.
That’s the one I always thought was the coldest.
Aahhh good call, didn’t think of that one but definitely a classic. Side note, don’t think I’ve ever seen a Toronto Amir Johnson tag, what a pull
Arenas shooting up the whole huddle was the wildest
Gil gives 0 fucks. He’s like the Ja mega evolution.
Ronald Acuna added the grenade to his arsenal of HR celebrations afterward. Always hits the spot.
Remember this gem from KG?
KG is literally ruthless lol
If he wasn’t washed it would be funnier
Nothing beats him whipping out the RPG celly in the London game while the US was threatening to invade Greenland. One of the funniest, most tone deaf things I’ve ever witnessed. 😭
This is the first time I’ve seen someone care about that in relation to the Greenland situation. You’re overthinking this one a bit.
yeah thats a mr fantastic reach lmao
Noted foreign policy ambassador Ja Morant
people like to think the news/events they’re exposed to (their algorithms) are somehow connected or correlated. Exposure bias or something like that
doubt ja morant has ever read or watched the news in his life
And neither do NBA fans, apparently. Being hounded for having a laugh is one of the weirdest things to happen to me on this sub…
bro, nobody in the NBA even knows where Greenland is
Idk I legit laughed out loud. Something about this dude’s antics.
He looks drunk ngl
Tbf what do you expect he’s in Orlando in the offseason lol
I am very depressed
Had some good times
Good times?
Good times
They had a few years of good times.
How Memphis fumbled that core needs to be studied.
Losing Steven Adams was a bigger deal than it seemed at the time.
And Dillon Brooks. Everyone thought they had to do it at the time but he’s proven to be a great glue guy and player
The rockets also lost Steven Adams’s and completely fell apart in the second half of the season. Adams lowkey has an argument to be the best offensive rebounder ever, his teams rebounding rates are always absurd. He carries way more value because his teams always end up with 10-20 extra offensive possessions.
ehhh Brooks is debateable. Adams no doubt just look at the rockets. Brooks is harder though. He was huge in the regular season but like Anderson, Melton, and Tyius Jones they all suck in the playoffs. The grizzlies had three core issues: garbage playoff performance but amazing regular season role players, their all stars never develop beyond their regular abilites (Bane shooting, JJJ blocking, Ja dunks) so they were always A tier but never that championship S tier, and injuries beyond the eye can see. I think injuries prevented their core from developing other skills, and since they are such a small market they could never get a real bench core to replace their mid players for the playoffs. They only had the draft.
Every team needs their glue guy
Everyone needs their guy that can rebound like an animal to make up for JJJ’s complete inability to rebound as a 7 footer
100%
Injuries and stagnation from their stars aswell as never really filling the holes left by role players leaving. Ja for example has played 65+ games in a season exactly once in his career.
I totally get you on the injuries, I just think firing Jenkins has proved to be a horrendous move
I mean, I really think it was the right move. I always point to what edeys production looked like before and after Jenkins got fired, it was a night and day difference. I don’t think it takes a genius to know how to play into zach edeys strengths. Our struggles from this year was purely from how many players got injured early on, we still played mostly competitive games until the very end even with a low quality set of guys playing
And still, on average, has played more games than Joel Embiid.
It’s called injuries my man
They didn’t fumble it tbf, Ja regressed and was never healthy. JJJ/Bane are low all star tier.
Sometimes teams just don’t make the next step, they picked the perfect time to blow it up too
The star player became a huge problem and wrenched everything
I think it’s kind of funny of that a guy legally owning guns in the most gun loving nation ever is considered the one who ruined everything. Don’t get me wrong, Ja was definitely being irresponsible and deserves criticism, but there are stars in the league that have done way worse things and they don’t get half of the shit Ja does.
Nope. Injuries.
Injuries, injuries, suspensions and more injuries.
Dont think it was really Memphis that fumbled anything
Did they fumble?
Ja is perpetually injured, hasn’t really broadened his game, and based on overwhelming evidence im comfortable saying he’s also a moron.
JJJ is kinda underwhelming.
Bane is good, but like not that good.
This clip is honestly super wholesome, but let’s not pretend like the Grizzlies fumbled away a dynasty here.
Fumbled? Go look at Jas injury history. Dude has played one healthy playoff series. It’s literally just that. JJJ and Bane aren’t good enough to be the leading guy on a team.
Dumbass comment
Don’t know believe it’s nice they all still support each other
You can wipe away your tears with your 7 first round picks
We love Bane. Magic can be your eastern conference team.
What the grizz had with these three before it all went south makes me sad…
that team was fun and it looked like they had a bright future
And that future was illuminated by several red and green dots
All those second round losses, wasted.
Kinda dislike how “ring or bust” fans have become. 2nd round is awesome, it’s great for the fans, and you give yourself a chance at a ring
Especially for a city like Memphis. We aren’t bringing in fancy free agents. Since 2010 (when I became a fan) all things considered we’ve had pretty good success as a very small market. We’ve definitely blown some good opportunities with rosters and letting veterans go too early and such but overall I can’t complain too much.
667-610 over that span. Two 56 win seasons in the west plus a 55. One WCF. 11 playoff appearances. Fuck ya Memphis
I’m happy with any of my sports team’s seasons as long as they are competitive in the playoffs. Obviously a title is better but totally agree we shouldn’t discount a fun season of winning a lot of games
I get it for Lakers and Celtics fans. But fans of most teams, there’s a lot to be proud of for having some of the best seasons in franchise history. My team used to be in this boat where the best we had in my lifetime was a first round playoff win. Sometimes you just gotta appreciate the good times because you never know when it’ll be over and you’re back at the bottom again
Y’all act like the Grizzlies have multiple second round playoff series wins. We have one. One second round series win in franchise history. So second round playoff loses, I’ll take it.
Atleast we had fun
no it was a dynasty remember
The Grizz hate Draymond so much They made sure the dynasty died after Brooks left to prove Draymonf wrong
2016
Its better than almost the entire rest of Grizz history. They were involved in the two best regular seasons in Grizz history and easily the second best Grizz team overall.
lol from a magic fan. lotta “lost in first round” on their wiki page. don’t be throwing stones.
If that grizz had the current version of Dillon Brooks, they might’ve been able to move farther.
Brooks hasn’t really improved at all, he just stoped chucking up the worst shot attempts of all time.
I hate it here
Isn’t that an improvement?
thats improving
Injuries suck. Worst part of sports.
Two seasons ago Drake London did this celebration and the Falcons head coach, in an attempt to defend him, said it was a water gun 😂
He had to “find a way” to defend his guy
lol
Kia Center gonna need a new ballroom
Fresh
nice
Ja Wick at it again
“How’d you get fired on your day off?”
Lmao
Cool the old Grizzlies core are still bros. I think the NBA was too rash with JA and the Grizzlies were foolish to break up the team.
Ja didn’t do himself any favors, made the leagues decision much easier
It just feels like AI getting targeted for baggy clothes all over again. A lot of people did gun celebrations. The gun videos were corny, but I honestly think it really wasn’t a big deal. Just the NBA blowing shit out proportion because they’re obsessed with Twitter.
I don’t disagree but it wasn’t like he did it once or twice, dude just couldn’t help himself after being warned
I’ve seen enough. Get him OUT of that arena!! Posing a threat to those around him /s
How’d he even get those guns in the arena!
The secret service must be in charge of security tonight
Ja,JJJ,Bane and Dillon, that was a good team. Why did they split them up?
Injuries and not good enough core to make it out of the second round
And yet, here we are.
Kleinman put g league players around them in their prime, and then somehow convinced everyone including our bootlicking fans that Ja was the problem.
They scape goated Dillon and then it was downhill from there
Wow they really show up for bane
This is how delusional I am: this makes me hopeful. Of what? No clue. Maybe just the warm and fuzzies for days gone by 😕
Classic Temetrius
Straight to fukin jail for that one.
Scott Foster getting ready to T him up
I’m impressed that Ja showed up at a game. I would like to see more players at the games.
Picturing the ref calling a tech on him out of habit
“Finger guns” EVERY FUCKING PLAYER DOES IT OMFG
If this country had real gun control the Grizzlies would still be good
Never thought I’d still be out here defending Ja, but here we are, years later, still pretending like every other player in the league doesn’t do this celebration. Somebody take a finger gun and shoot me in the fucking face, please
Never change Ja Wick lol
I believe this is the first time I’ve seen something like this. Are players from another team even allowed to attend another orgs playoff games?
It happens literally every post season
Allowed? Lmao what?? Why wouldn’t they be
Of course, and this happens fairly often
Chris Paul attended a Thunder playoffs game last year. Although I guess he was an expiring so he was technically a FA the second Spurs season ended.
Remember how Grant Williams (after already being traded) was in the Celtics’ locker room when they won the Finals?
So yeah, I’m pretty sure there’s nothing wrong with active players watching another team’s game.
LeBron came to a regular season game to celebrate his old teammate Z while he was still on the Heat. Then he returned to the Cavs the next season.
Let him have his fun he’ll be on the Kings soon in basketball hell
/s if needed
Assuming he can’t get fined as a spectator lol
Worst C-Clamp forehand grip in the NBA
I might cry
This dumb mf, just bust out a laser pointer
Love to say they’re still cool, maybe the most sad end to a genuinely great trio I’ve ever seen.
He’s fine in the west
And?
I just knew r/nba would give more of a shit about this than actual games
You’re here too.
Bang
You just know those two are up to some no good fun after this game
