[NBA] Cooper Flagg Is The 2025-26 KIA NBA Rookie of the Year!
Mavericks are very lucky.
suuuuure they were lucky sure sure
Wink wink wink
very lucky to lose luka
Until they trade him to the Celtics for a box of scraps
Hey man, I think we can use Cooper more than you.
But he’s a Mainer :)
If there was a quid pro quo between Nico and Silver, then the Luka trade isn’t the worst trade of all time.
Lol why? Who else can actually play on their team? They didn’t even make the play in
Did you say the same when y’all got wemby and 2 more lotto picks right after?
Bias incoming, coop should be the RotY but kon is a baller. Both dudes will be solid for years
This season’s rookie class of Flagg, Kon, and Edgecombe is absolutely stacked.
I’ve got kon #3 for rookies this year. Edgecomb is my #2
Long term? Reasonable take even if i dont agree
This year? Nah lol
I mean people used to say with absolute certainty that Ace Bailey is in a different stratosphere of a prospect than Kon Knueppel
Look how that turned out lol
ah you’re not the brightest
My personal opinion as a sixer fan. But those 3 are def the top 3 rookies this year.
Are you being serious right now? That’s an insane take
Spoiled ROTY race, not a lot of bad choices. Hyped to watch Flagg for years to come
Coop and Kon were the two obvious ones, but Edgecomb, Coward, and Harper are all pretty damn good too. Great year for the rookies.
Best rookie wing since Lebron. Maybe the next generational American player. His ceiling is the highest of any player outside of Lebron. Probably grows an inch to 3 inches as well. Top 10 all time is within reality. Lot has to happen but he’s clearly a one of a kind player.
That’s a lot of speculation from one season.
It’s worth remembering that the number of top 10 players is 10– many, many, many promising HOF level talents did not maket hat cut
Funny how people just blatantly downplaying a winner for an award. Can’t admit the difference of great player from another tier.
get that 3pt % up over the summer flagg!!
No matter what people say this is fully deserved. His ceiling is also much much higher.
This was expected so not much of a surprise. Would have preferred if Kon got it, but Flagg was obviously the favorite since he got drafted.
You didn’t watch his games. Lol. Just because he is the number 1 pick he’s already the favorite? There are people here that think Kon deserves to win it. Flagg just outplayed him and the much better player overall. Only Kon’s lead was the 3 pt %
People always want an under dog story and it’s a shame they don’t want to pick the rightful rookie as ROTY, Flagg was a significantly better rookie this season
Well I felt like Flagg has been the underdog for the ROY throughout the season. Becuase the general consensus for the media was all Kon.
Significant is a stretch
Well deserved. I had Kon but this is fair.
Thats my adopted home-state rook! Gooo Coopah!
Well deserved. 😍😍😍😍
Cooper’s great and will end up the better player, but Kon basically lost this award because he played through a back injury down the stretch instead of resting, due to his team (in large part thanks to drafting Kon) making an actual postseason push. That’s always gonna sour this one for me.
Kon misses the last 10 games/play-in due to injury instead of fighting through it to help his team and it actually HELPS his case. That’s an issue with the mindset of the voters, imo.
The people that have thought it was Cooper’s before that, more power to them. It’s just the sheer amount of people who clearly changed their minds without looking at the nuance of the situation is wack. We all know there are voters like Perk mucking shit up, but so many of these people who put Cooper 1 in this vote had Kon before the injury.
And people wonder why guys don’t play through shit all the time…the vast majority of media and fans either cannot or will not factor “playing though an injury” into their evaluation of a player.
Well Flagg got injured game 49 and missed 8 games then Kon lead by then.
That’s apples and oranges though. It’s not like Kon’s main selling point was the games played.
Additionally, the time of season this stuff happens changes the calculus completely.
Like Cooper starting the year off poorly being gone with the wind, versus Kon ending the year poorly deciding the race, for instance.
And even still, I’m quite sure if Cooper toughed it out and played like shit during those 8 games, it would have been a major hit to his ROTY case.
My whole point is the voters ding guys more heavily for playing through injuries than vice-versa, which I don’t think is even a debate outside of long-term chronic issues.
Throw in that the play-ins games clearly worked against him when they weren’t supposed to be factored in, and yet they couldn’t factor in that he was hurt…my beef is about the voters, not Cooper winning in a vacuum. Like I said, anyone that had Cooper before the injury, more power to you.
It’s just that there is no vacuum, we can keep abreast of a majority of voters opinion’s throughout the season, and in this instance they changed their votes based on contextless stat sheets without nuance.
Yeah I am just saying the Flagg had injury in this season too. The opinion in the Mavs sub was Kon was already set to win the award as close as the voting are.
Okay, I mean I know Cooper got injured, I was just giving you all the nuance that differentiates the two scenarios.
Anyway, to TLDR, my issue isn’t that they picked the wrong winner for ROTY. Both deserved it, and Cooper will be the better player in the end. My issue was watching the voters in real time over the course of the last month forgo nuance completely for the #1 pick to end up with the award at the end, while also reinforcing the toxic, empty-headed culture in the NBA space around playing through injury.
Better than Luka
Well deserved was a close race tho
Forever and always a Flaggott 😤🏀
Flagg is a great player and will in all likelihood be the better player in the future, but Kon deserved the rookie of the year award. It wasn’t supposed to, but the delayed award because of the Luka appeal clearly influenced the vote, even when it wasn’t supposed to. Kon likely wins without the delayed appeal stuff.
Somehow “the Hornets were robbed of the Rookie of the Year” has happened twice in a year’s time.
(crying Jazz fan)
Flagg is the better player, but I think Kon had the better season. This was always Flagg’s to lose, and the last couple games of the season gave voters a clear path.
Kon got robbed f you nba and copper flag or copper fat
Harper got robbed. Of course Knuppel and Flagg are getting mad starts as a good player on garbage teams
Yeah Wemby and Castle robbed him of the opportunities to get that ROY. Blame your team.
Weak
Should have been Kon. Played more games, led this team to a better record.
Led? C’mon now. There are huge differences in their roles. Also you betray that your flair should actually be Charlotte with “this”
Led might be strong but let’s not act like he wasn’t a hugely important figure in their turn around. Hornets improved by nearly THIRTY wins because suddenly LaMelo had an elite shooter with a high IQ come in and start immediately. Without him, Hornets likely make some improvement due to less injuries but nowhere near the 19 to 44 jump that they did.
Led? you’re crazy lol
Played more games? He fumbled his remaining games.
Do they show his losing turnover and foul on Kon in this?
Do they show the kon artist stinking it up in the biggest game of the season?
Kon should’ve taken 15 or so games off in the 2nd half of the year to avoid that rookie wall
Wow. Hahaha. And Kon didn’t have a turnover in the whole season?
Not one I can think of that choked away a game on the final possession lol
