Wanted my boy to win but no one expected this to even be a race so I am still happy for Kon putting up a fight! Shoutout to VJ and Harper, as well. Insane top 4 this year. 

Not mad at the results tbh, kons main argument was that he had been consistent all season while cooper took a while to get going but that argument went right out the window the last month of the year.

Said it himself in his exit interview he wasn’t injured either just missing shots. Tough to see after the rest of the 80% of the year he had but he wasn’t allowed to take his foot off the gas pedal if he wanted to beat a generational talent like Flagg.

I won’t lie the Grant Hill appearance had me sure it was co-ROTY which I would’ve been more than okay with, both deserved it, but still so happy for Coop!

I’m not saying anything about anyone else but there are games when 19 year old Cooper Flagg looks like the best player on both ends of the court for either team. He’s the real deal. Well deserved award

Tight race but props to Kon and his records as a rookie. But Flagg is extremely talented

I don’t understand people saying Kon got robbed. Coop was literally a one man show while Kon was the 3rd option on a team that shoots 3s constantly. Kon was efficient and consistent up until the last few weeks, but Coop led his team in points, rebounds, and assists, and blocks, something only MJ has done. Coop also has 4 40 point games and a 50 point game as a 19 year old first option. Kon had a great season but Coop deserved this over him 100% imo.

Not sure how I feel about that one, but I also wouldn’t say it’s undeserved.

It depends on what you value the most and Flagg was the flashier of the two. He had very gaudy games where he scored 42, 49, 36, 51, and 45 points games. He was the youngest player in NBA history to score 40+ points in a game. He was the youngest player to score 50+ points a game. He was the youngest player to have 10+ assists in a game. He was the first rookie since Iverson to have consecutive 40 point games. He beat LeBron’s rookie record of most 40 point games scored with four. 

Was always gonna happen. I don’t want to say Kon robbed, Cooper was incredible, but Kon was my pick and had one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time. Cooper’s late surge and Kon’s poor performances towards the end of the season definitely swung things.

This was close enough I’m pretty sure Kon got screwed by the voting being after the play in games. I mean Bill Simmons who’s as high profile of a voter as there is straight up said he changed his vote after Kon had the bad game in the play in

Kon is generational, would’ve won most other years.

But this is fully deserved for Coop. One of the most productive, impactful rookie seasons in a long time. Instant 1st option as a teenager and he excelled, all while being a positive everywhere else on the court.

Congrats to Coop but shoutout Kon as well.

This is the correct choice. It’s analogous to 2004 when Carmelo had more team success, but everyone knew Lebron was the better player.

Kon is great, he had a great season on efficiency and advanced stats but he was also a 3rd Option on his team. Cooper was thrown to the wolves and ended up having to be the 1st scoring option and POA defender. All of this and he led his team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks and was top 5 in everyone of them for all rookies. He deserved the rookie of the year.

Well deserved, had a team of a rag tag group of guys thanks to Nico’s fuckery and put up nice numbers. Kon didn’t have the offensive or defensive responsibilities that Cooper had.

Definitely a closer race than I anticipated at the start of the year. Kon is potentially on pace to be the next great shooter. That said, Coop was carrying a mangled franchise in the wake of a franchise-altering trade on his back as a 19-year-old. All-star point guard and big man (Irving and AD) out for the whole year, and barely got to play with the other good young talent like Lively.

Such a damn impressive rookie year. Dallas basketball on the up between Paige Buckets and The Maine Event.

Wow, honestly surprised. I really thought it would be Kon or coROY. But as a duke fan I can’t complain. 

Silver lining in all this. Was a super entertaining season to watch. Disappointed it happened without Luka here but we wouldn’t have Flagg if Luka was still around. Weird, conflicting emotions as a supporter.
