Just fire your coach every year you don’t win the championship

This is a little disingenuous given the circumstances. If the Pistons get knocked out and the Knicks do get past the Celtics, losing in the ECF would absolutely be a failure. Losing in the finals wouldn’t get Brown fired, even though he’s cost us 1.5 games in a best of 7 series

Whether or not he gets fired for a hypothetical trip the finals is a conversion I’m not interested in, but he’s been a total disaster-class in this series.

Coaching obviously matters but people also act like it’s the reason teams don’t win championships when the majority of the reason is the players.

Between Brown, Nurse, Atkinson, Mosley, Udoka, Adelman and Splitter, it’s very possible that 3-4 current playoff teams have new coaches next season

Why would they want to get rid of him if he were to help get them to the finals?

Brown will survive the year if they beat Boston in round 2 but truly lose to a superior opponent in the conference finals.

Anything short of that & there’s no reason to keep him around!

As to whether he does reach the finals and gets fired for not winning is a bridge I’m not crossing he knew exactly what he signed up for when he came here he knew the expectations were when he agreed to put his name on that dotted line it’s New York it’s always been about championship or bust but his coaching performance this series has been completely abysmal

This is the result of the shit show that knicks had when firing thibs after losing in the ECF and not having any plan as well. Thibs was loved by a large portion of the fan base and Mike brown has done nothing in his career to make us think this was an upgrade or excited at any point. So whether it’s right or not, the knicks brought this on themselves.

This is only plausible if we get bounced in the 2nd round, but I think he’s safe for at least one more season. They’ll find a scapegoat for this season’s failures and then give him the boot next year if he doesn’t meet expectations.

Nurse and Atkinson being on the hot seat doesn’t make much sense to me. Nurse’s best player hardly ever plays. Atkinson’s team thought James Harden would make them a contender in 2026? Also “return to title-contender status” is far fetched. This group has never been a true contender. Cleveland doesn’t have any good wings and they’ve got two non-shooting bigs in their starting lineup. Only so much Atkinson can really do.

David Blatt got to the finals and then had a great record in year 2 mid year

I really like pretty much everyone on the Knicks so I want them to find success but there is some level of satisfaction that the Knicks and Nuggets gave up on the coaches that got them where they are and now they seem to still be struggling to meet expectations

If you want real change start by firing everyone who was involved in the Mikal Bridges trade.

This Knicks team has such a small window. It truly is this year, maybe next year and that’s it.

Knicks need to at the least make the finals.

Getting leapfrogged in the ECF by Detroit/Cleveland/Toronto/Orlando would be a bad look.

Taking a step backwards and losing to Boston in the 2nd round would be a bad look.

Losing to Atlanta in the first round would be a terrible look and sound the alarms.

I think the Knicks could wind up in a disappointing finals run if they lose 4-0 or 4-1 to whoever comes out of the West, but that’s closer to a retool than blow the whole thing up.

The problem is the Knicks have 0 tradeable firsts, and I’m not sure what Mikal Bridges value is.

I said this a year ago, but that Anunoby contract was going to age poorly. You can’t be paying him $40M+ and get to where you want to go. Anunoby, Franz Wagner and Michael Porter Jr are the only 3 played signed through next season that have never been an All Star. Wagner and MPJ are 24 and 27. Anunoby is 28 and will be 30 next July. He’s like a Derrick White tier of player getting paid 2nd option money.

He’s a great defender and a great tertiary option, but he’s just so expensive if the Knicks want to get better. Basically their only avenue to significantly improve is a KAT for Giannis swap (which doesn’t make sense for Milwaukee), or they’re just going to be rotating bench pieces.

The Knicks put all their chips in, so of course Mike Brown is on the hot seat because if he can’t get it done, there’s just not a lot of ways to shake things up without a total mismanagement of assets. So, the only fix is a coach to figure out how to make this group work. That was the problem with Thibs too, it ran its course and the only reasonable course of action to get better whether it worked or not was try a coaching change. That Mikal Bridges trade screwed their flexibility.

if they fire Mike Brown, the knicks will be back in the basement again. This is like the Bucks all over again, but at least they won a chip.

The Knicks will never win a ring with Dolan running things. Firing Thibs with no clear replacement in mind shows how inept the guy is. 

Mike Brown cannot fix the Mikal Bridges trade, which is the reason why the Knicks will not be able to over the hump. 

Out of the 16 teams in the playoffs, I’d put the Knicks roster at about 9th best. Middle of the pack for sure. But Dolan’s dumbass thinks they’re capable of winning a championship?? And he’ll fire Brown if he doesn’t win one? Man there’s a reason the Knicks are a joke and it’s the psycho sitting in the owners booth
