The Spurs outscored the Blazers 73-35 in the second half
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401869385
The Spurs were down 17 at halftime, they come back to win by 21
the game thread in our sub was saying some unspeakable things for these past 2 games just for us to win anyways lmao
Our sub has gone to shit. Some act like they have never watched or played any sport before. One bad quarter and suddenly Mitch is a fraud, Fox is a fraud, and half the team needs to be traded, apparently.
That’s all team subs.
Tanking teams are the opposite.
One good quarter and everyone wants to fire the coach and burn the building down.
Every point scored by anyone other than Coop over the past two months was apparently an affront to basketball itself and grounds for immediate contract termination
I’m glad I left after [censored]
Preach
The downside of attracting casual fans
Its new to us
i can’t imagine watching the game with those people at a bar, they’d get so many angry looks with everything they say.
anonymity here has made these people bitches for real. they gotta start being positive and they’ll start seeing the game positively.
Yeah I had to leave the spurs sub like 10 games into the season. That sub both hates basketball and the spurs I don’t get it.
I did the same. Absolutely miserable people
Im chalking it up to fans that missed the glory years and cant appreciate the swings in playoff basketball.
partially, i think the other half is wemby fans, who were previously curry fans previously lebron fans. we got the stud, he brings the idiots
Dude its not just your sub. Social media has fried people’s brains. Sports discourse is fully cooked as well as anything else that matters in life
That’s why I tend to avoid the our game threads for the most part.
The worst comment i’ve seen was i think back in January when we lost and Wemby had a bad game.
Some mf said “Wemby learned nothing from training with Hakeem and KG” or something like that.
Oh and the “Wemby is a black hole on offense” line that circulated for a bit
These kids, I swear
Don’t mind the sours too much
This is reddit after all
Our sub has become Wemby-only fans right now. I had a lot of “discussion” about how Spurs historically operates compared to how they want the team operate now that Wemby is here. A lot of new and young fans really poisoned the well.
They must be children. I had to unsub
Lol obviously didn’t watch the Blazers this season we always do this.
The turnovers especially are a rough watch
jerami grant contested midrangers over and over again seemed less than ideal
And this was his better game…
Happens in literally all teams’ game threads across every sport. People are genuine lunatics and morbid when it comes to sports. Wish humans could drum up this much passion for like literally anything else
When a bunch of pessimists get together under the right circumstances it creates a doomgasm online.
There are a lot of young and bandwagon fans in the Spurs sub. For some, this is their first taste of playoff basketball.
Makes sense considering the rebuild and where we were at. Haven’t seen the sub in a bit but man i remember so much fun there after sochan was drafted
Which is crazy because your young core is the most promising in the league.
Sounds like every game thread
The talent gap is crazy even without wemby
like the “FIRE MITCH’ comment lol
our sub is genuinely so ungrateful for the position we’re in and it’s so exhausting sometimes man
you should see the pistons subreddit
Add that to the 61-43 in game 3 and the two second halves at home are a 134-78 in favor of the Spurs. Truly disgusting stuff
It’s disrespectful to the unwritten rules of the game
I’m glad we brought a subject matter expert to weigh in on this
Dead horse, meet Reddit
insane composure
Incredible maturity by a team led by a 22-year-old & a 21-year-old while heavily featuring a 1920-year-old
Edit: damn Harper turned 20 already
Fox led the comeback, I’d argue
That one Barnes dunk was huge for morale too.
Its honestly my fault, i forgot to put my fox jersey on during the first half.
These comebacks are expediting our postseason development.
San Antonio intentionally going down in the first half in order to maximize the amount of Portland despair when they inevitably win by double digits.
blazers vs Steph scar tissue
Blazers and getting traumatized by a Steph C. name a more iconic duo
just like in the 2001 cinematic masterpiece, A Knight’s Tale, starring Heath Ledger
Wemby’s d is so much fun to watch.
Yeah?
length > girth, apparently
length + timing
awareness is huge tbh
Never underrate body control
Yeah and his defense is good too!
lol relax
Brother….
hnng
It’s his length that’s so impressive…
long ass meat
Largest playoff comeback margin of victory in history by a team down 15
Ummm… this is just not true
He means biggest turnaround, not just winning the game
If he meant that, why wouldn’t he have said that?
Cmon bro. Everyone but you knew what he meant. Choose to do with that information what you will
Honestly I did not and was immediately like, wasn’t that the Clippers.
Fair enough. I was hyperbolic. Either way the confusion has been cleared up so no harm no foul
“Largest playoff comeback in history by a team down 15” is what he said. How is anyone supposed to interpret that as something completely different, BRO?
He misspoke and the misunderstanding has been cleared up. Why does this aggravate you so much?
It’s hilarious how fucking weird you guys are. Little bro was wrong with a stat and instead of being like, “nah man, the clippers hold that record, but the point turnaround actually is a record”, you weirdos double down and say he’s right because he actually meant (even though he didn’t) some obscure shit nobody even knows about and then act like we’re in the wrong, lol.
Ok here you go. The original poster was wrong and meant the point turnaround was the record.
You’re not in the wrong for the first comment but coming after everyone who shared the correct stat and corrected the confusion is an interesting choice.
Edit: I will also add that this was talked about on the broadcast several times which is likely why so many people picked up on what op meant and were able to clarify
Smartest oklahoman
Cringe
Largest winning margin in the playoffs by a team down 15+ at halftime.
That’s not what he said, but okay.
It’s not what they said, but it’s the correct version of the stat they were trying to share.
No, they were blatantly wrong and you’re moving the goal posts to a stat that is correct. Y’all are so fucking weird. It’s okay to be wrong sometimes and just be like, “oh my bad, I meant this…”.
This isn’t a debate, so nobody is trying to “move the goalposts.” They put out the wrong stat and I just put out the correct one to clarify things. There is zero need to get pressed about this.
Why would I be pressed when I wasn’t the one wrong nor was I the one moving goal posts to be right?
Damn, I’m glad to be not Oklahoman, that’s for sure
Ya I live in San Diego and you’re likely in texas. Yikes. Texas is such a shit hole, lol.
What’s next on the playbook? You going to tell me how much more educated, rich, and/or successful you are than me?
First one to win by 15+ so yes it is
So, “Largest margin of victory by a playoff team that was down 15”? Got it
Someones salty. Just admit you were wrong
No one was wrong lol, the comment says Largest playoff comeback in history by a team down 15
When it means, largest margin of victory by a team down 15.
It kills me to defend a Thunder flair, but egret wemby fan typed is not what wemby fan meant. Thunder flair is right that the first comment is just not true
Just admit you are wrong
Boy why are you here. Doesnt MIN have other things to worry about like Ant’s knee. Gtfo, we just finished watching the game and knew what he meant
You’re salty that the top comment is wrong and that’s straight up weird to die on that hill. Give it up dude.
Swear yall Thunder fans are the whiniest bunch around. Guess it tracks since the Thunder are the whiniest bunch of players
I’m suddenly whiny because you’re blatantly wrong? Jfc y’all are seriously 12 years old because only a pre-teen would double down on something so dumb, lol
Boy if you dont get out this comment section and go worry about your boy Jalen Williams soft ass Hammy
Or what? You’ll get on your e-bike and yell things?
Stating that was the largest comeback in NBA playoff history is not true, and is a huge disservice to Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell
First team to be down 15+ at half only to win by 15+ in a playoff game
Yea I meant margin of victory sorry
Have you ever been so goddamn locked in
Spurs have had the look of a team full of 10 year vets the last two games. Vic and Castle were built for this
And well, Harper and Fox are pretty fucking good too
It must be cool as hell to get lucky and draft a generational player and then get the 4th and 2nd draft picks the following years.
Just want to say, in a draft where it was a toss up of who was the clear number 1, 3 teams passed on Castle.
Sure, but it’s still a generational player followed by the fourth and second picks. I don’t love how much luck the draft introduces.
Helped having a 7’7” Monk back in the lineup
7ft8 bodhisattva cheat code
Portland were very hot from the field after that cold start it wasn’t sustainable and they were getting away with a lot of fouls on defense tbh
They also needed a stretch where we couldn’t hit anything.
These young kids are growing up before our eyes right now.
This team is scary.
Every Blazers fan called it in the game thread
I never wanna see a Clingan 3pt attempt again
The defense was suffocating and the magnet ball stopped for the Blazers. Just different levels.
Wemby’s defense and spurs shooting are breath-taking to watch. Definitely the biggest threat to OKC’s back-to-back titles hope.
Series of blown leads!
The only game we lost we lost Wemby after 12 minutes
Spurs also won a game without Wemby so it evens out
It’s so jarring to see us getting clapped off the face of the earth in the 1st half of these games only to come back in grandiose fashion
My doomer ass might need to start being a believer
1st player for playoff road debut to get 25+ points, 5 plus blocks, 10 + rebounds
Young dudes, earning their playoff stripes.
Keldon and Vassell coming through to spark the 4th quarter rout.
The young Spurs never give up
Blazers were so fucking sorry in that 2nd half
The Spurs are just really good
Impressed by the half-time adjustments by this Spurs team. Just wish they’d clean up the first half more.
When i check the half time, POR leads by double digit lead…
And when i check the last quarter, SAS blowout the POR in 2nd half… 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
I’d like to hear from all those who said the Spurs were going to choke under the playoffs lights.
Everything comes on the defensive side of the floor and the effort was much much better in the second half. I really like the adjustment to put Fox on Deni which, among other things, totally discombobulated Portland’s offense
Trailblazers imploded in that 4th quarter. Those turnovers were nuts.
Clingan was a terrorist in the 3rd.
Confirmed San Antonio were playing Portland.
I’ll give credit to Mitch, he’s inherited Pop’s ability to not overreact.
Thats just blazers basketball. If they got the lead at half its almost a guaranteed loss.
job’s not finished. I won’t breathe easy until we get that 4th win and actually move on to the next round lol.
That just wild bro spurs prob not losing another game
Turns out Steph isn’t special. We do this against everyone
Watching the game the spurs really didn’t play bad in the first half. It was just one of those halves where they couldn’t buy a bucket… happens to every team… they just shot way better in the second half
you can’t miss shots against the spurs. our offense really gets going if we don’t have to inbound the ball. given Wemby’s presence its a difficult proposition. you just have to shoot really well against them to beat them. Portland has done for stretches but then they go cold. that’s why denver is a difficult matchup for them in the western conference (a hot Boston team could totally beat them), they can shoot the ball (despite their performance this round). it really does feel like if the wolves pull through and ant doesn’t play much, we are going to have that OKC versus SAS collision and the thunder will have to shoot well to win. I believe they can because Shai is a freaking assassin but he will have to be heroic, esp. with castle up his ass.
It is weird that we flipped the script from the regular season where we would do great first half but then crumble in the 3rd.
Now, we sh*t the bed the first half and then suddenly become a dynasty in the 2nd half
That’s gotta be unethical.
We used to blow out a lot of two digits lead in the second half on the last couple of seasons.
Good to see the improvements, it’s nice day to be a Spurs fan ☺️
L O S S P U R S
Is Mossad going to take down Castle?
