[Injury] Donte DiVincenzo goes down with a non-contact injury early in the first quarter, was able to walk off into the locker room
Same as Tatum, Hali, and Dame. That negative step is so dangerous. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
And they all wear #0.
This is honestly a wild random stat
I made this post last year and it was removed by the mods. Clearly the etsy witches at work.
I’m not generally a superstitious person, but I deadass wouldn’t touch the number 0 if I was an NBA player. 4 going down with achilles injuries is spooky
So, a little stitious?
I suppose so, yes
I think that does make you superstitious lmao
Gtfo here, that ain’t random
kinda is at this point. It’s four different players; that’s a crazy occurrence.
Very aggressive about the #0 lol
Keep my motherfucking number out of your mouth.
Shut the sub down
Vince Williams wears 0 and tore his ACL
Hendricks got a season ending injury in October 2024, and he wears 0
I gues 0 is a number that summons injuries
Nah Gilbert Arenas was number 0 and he never…wait 😳
Obligatory fuck Tari Eason
If I was in the league that would be enough players to make me superstitious enough to change my number
Ummmm don’t tell us tell maxey!
I didn’t even wanna say his name man 😭 I want to tempt the universe as little as possible
Holy shit
Interesting
If Maxey gets hurt, I’m coming back for you 😠
Wtf
DUDE
Numerology.
Zero is the worst, lamest number anyone can pick. It’s literally nothing. Zero doesn’t exist. It is non-existence. Why would anyone want to be #0?
Yup pretty much every achilles injury looked like that when you try and lunge in the direction of the ball prayers up to him
Fuck me change maxey’s number
HURRY
Idk why, my immediate thought was “Hali” was Tamba Hali
Ugh the second he stepped backwards and fell I got a bad feeling
The exact move i did when i tore mine last year. Exact same gd step smh
So unfortunate he was playing so well this series
I just turned it on and missed it, but the way he was waving it was not a good sign.
Holy hell these Playoffs have been something for injuries.
Kinda curious about the data re Achilles injuries. Feels like there’s an uptick in those injuries because of the amount of movement and speed required in the modern NBA
Definitely seems like it and it keeps happening when players take that negative step to push forward.
Cause that’s where the achilles gets max lengthened right?
Ya no idea how they even train to prevent that. Terrible and now Ants injured Timberwolves had a curse put on them
You can’t I assume. Achilles seems like it just gets worn down. The answer is less impact but the NBA isn’t going to accept less games since it hits revenue
Right, but people have been doing that probably since we stood upright. Complete non expert here but i think it means either a: we are nearing a point where human tendons cant handle the force muscles exert; or b: something with current shoe construction. I lean heavily towards b myself
It’s a natural motion but not really a motion we should be doing daily, & pro players probably doing that 100 times a day
Its just volume + intensity. All time highs for both in the sport these days
It’s why players take so many games off now. The game has so many more hard plants today that just didn’t exist. The body goes through so much stress
There was an article on ESPN last year when there were multiple in the playoffs. Suggested that a focus on other legs areas possibly knee was unintentionally creating weakness in the ankle
That’s possibly part of it. I read an article recently that analyzed game footage to quantify the number of hard foot plants per game and that number has significantly increased over the last decade. Lots more quick changes of direction and cuts that add stress to the body.
It’s that fuckass negative step man
I think we had an outside path to the title w the spurs and okc a bit dinged up. Maybe not unless ant could get to 100%, but there was a path.
Without Donte that door, even the remote chance, is closed. Ayo can approximate some of it, but not the volume shooting.
Ayo can approximate 2x the output apparently 2nd highest points of the bench in NBA history on 75%
Ha, ya, I guess. He’s not the high volume quick release shooter Donte is.
He’s more dynamic on the ball, of course. He does overlap w ant more though, which is one reason he worked well off the bench.
But regardless that leaves our bench thinner, which ultimately I think is what we’d need to beat the spurs or okc
And that’s assuming ant is back after this series. Hell it’s assuming we win this series.
Man I really hope im wrong here.
Zero chance. That’s Achilles and he’s done this playoffs and into some/most of next year. Huge blow for our team
Might have been his last game as a Timberwolf. This fucking blows
He may no longer be a Timberwolf but he’ll always be a dawg
Timberdog*
He played all 82 games and you gotta think that has something to do with it. It’s probably time to shorten the season.
Long overdue for a reduction to 64 or 72 games
theyll never shorten the season tho. less money.
Only alternative would be to start the season earlier, or make it go longer to have more time between games.
But that presents a whole other set of issues.
they ARE starting earlier. Before, it used to be like 1 game around October 28th or so and the rest were Oct30th/NOv1.
now the season is starting like Oct 12th or so.
Ideally, they need the schedule to stay the same, and still drop it to 72. Probably eliminates all b2bs.
if they are starting the season earlier, we might get more games. Hockey is gonna move from 82 to 84 next season, NBA owners are gonna be looking at those stats next season to see if it can also happen in NBA.
I remember seeing a few sports business experts talking about it and saying the profit loss would likely be smaller than everyone expects. With fewer games and a better quality product, you can charge more per commercial, ad, and game. I think Lowe said something similar.
The prediction was that it would maybe cut profit by like 1% or something. They just need to get enough owners and the NBPA to finally realize that long term quality of the product should trump squeezing every last dollar out today… So yeah, it probably won’t happen. Lol
With fewer games and a better quality product, you can charge more per commercial, ad, and game.
Yeah but we don’t need to reduce the number of games in order to charge more per commercial, ad, and game. We’ll just charge more anyways. /Billionaire CEO
Stars being injured and sitting out costs money.
Seems like it would be an impossibility to get the players to ever agree to this. It straight up just means they make less money.
Sort of but it could have happened game one in the season. He literally put all his force on his Achilles when rocking backwards then forwards quick with his heel in the air. There are coaches who work with you get players to get it ingrained into their heads to never take a large step back to push off. Always a shorter step under your body but flukes happen.
Wild that he’s 85+ games into the season (preseason etc) and they’re only 3.02 games into the playoffs when he goes down
So, so sad. That “step” is always deadly…
You’re not… classic drop step into calf ripple. Sucks so bad.
More and more teams need to be doing intensive conditioning to train players to stop drop stepping.
That’s just how you explode from a stationary position. You can’t get rid of it.
Its crazy that its become so ingrained in NBA players. After Hali’s injury, at warmup of my next game I tried doing one just out of curiosity and it felt terrible on my achilles even at warmup speed, can’t imagine having it as an actual move
The crazy part is, that it’s most definitely a common move to do. Whether it be off the ball to lose a defender or even in dribble moves.
49ers player tore his achilles doing it just to run onto the field from the sideline….
Trying to remove it from a natural reaction should be the #1 priority of all training staff.
Shit even regular people do the little hop negative step to change directions smh
I doubt anyone realizes how much they negative step while doing chores and just throughout the day in general. Teaching that out of people would be ridiculously hard to do. Only thing that’s really gonna help is shortening the regular season, or load managing and I know this place hates that, so shit out of luck then.
It’s really a natural motion. It’s the quick change of pace and think about it, these guys are much taller so their center of gravity is higher.
There’s no way to really word it but the optimal way for these guys to play the game puts their Achilles at high risk, which sucks.
This is literally a move done 1000x a game. I don’t think any of you guys actually play basketball if you think you can get rid of this jab.
I am so mad, hes been playing amazing
Dr. Sutterer already has the video up. It’s not good. https://youtu.be/o0OEvhaXyMw?si=_d5tYcyfzOl64hoG
I follow him as well. Always amazing how fast he gets his videos up. Between that and doctoring he must never rest
He’s the GOAT at this
same move Tatum made last year
That pop and calf jiggle tells you everything enough.
Fuck you achilles.
- Troy
Troy is the name of the city, Piano_Fingerbanger.
It would probably be Priam or Helen or Paris or Andromache or Hector saying it.
FWIW, the entire city of Troy is collectively allowed to say “Fuck you Achilles”. Hector was his most notable kill during the war but he’s also responsible for killing multiple other notable figures sided with Troy during the war:
Mofo had an insane K/D ratio. Him and Odysseus carried that entire siege.
Maybe a hot take but Achilles is my favorite Brad Pitt role
That is why noone will remember your name
Jersey #0 is truly cursed.
Yeah what the fuck
even I can diagnose this one now
this past year has turned all of us into achilles specialists
This is the one that we no longer really need Dr. Sutterer to be sure about, as fans😅
(Best wishes to the guy, btw)
he still posted his video before halftime, what a legend
The goat, fr.
I legit watch every single video he posts, lol.
I really think Silver is going to have to address the amount of Achilles tears and soft tissue muscle injuries recently at some point within the next few seasons. The league is going to have sit down and look at shortening the season no matter how much they’ve been avoiding it
To much money involved on all sides sadly.
It’s the style of play, not the length of the season. Guys are running and cutting way more than any other time in the sport.
which is why they need to cut the season
Fewer and shorter timeouts could help. If the players don’t get so many breaks, they have to pace themselves more or the coach has to go to the bench earlier.
Also, if we didn’t call so many offensive flops, there would be less time standing around for free throws.
They could play 20 games and it wouldn’t matter. These injuries can happen at any time.
So by your logic if the NBA season was 1 game long and each playoff series was a best of 1 we would see the same amount of achilles injuries each season as we do now, right?
The answer is bench players get more playing time. Rotations have to be shorter instead
so ultimately lowering the quality of the regular season games anyway?
I keep saying that I’d prefer them to make changes to how the game is played. There’s just too much movement in today’s game for the human body to handle. Today’s players are just absurdly athletic and coordinated, enabling them to do explosive moves that are probably at the limits of what our bodies can do.
Spineless Silver ain’t stopping shit
There’s literally nothing Adam silver can do to stop an injury like this from occurring. Shortening the season would result in fewer Achilles ruptures, but they’d likely still happen at the same rate.
Maybe there could be changes made to player conditioning and practice schedules, but I wouldn’t have a clue where to start with that. I think Achilles injuries are just gonna be an issue going forward
Not happening. Football has issues and is increasing the season.
all love dvo
No way. He’s been cooking this series too. Always open in the corner.
Yeah man not like this. A great team I always enjoy watching.
That fucking negative step. Damn.
Go peacefully into the night, my sweet Prince
Dang. Hate to see it. Dude is an absolute DAWG
The false step is destroying everyone’s Achilles
That fucking sucks. Looks like textbook Achilles
oh shit
No! Not him!
damn that sucks. hope the best for donte
so damn sad. was just having an otherworldly series up til then.
Dude was balling out and this shit happens. This is heartbreaking man
Fuckkkkk
FUCK
RAGU NO
That fucking sucks
65 game season when
I really don’t see that happening when the damn award eligibility is set at 65. Awards should be set at 60 with a 72 game season I think.
Players don’t want it for the money and the NBA doesn’t want it for the money
It looks like its what we all think it is 😔
Doesn’t look like a full tear. Usually with a full tear, there’s a recoil up the calf.
Edit: Nevermind, looks like it was the right leg. Yeah, he’s cooked. 😔
No man fuckkkk
We somehow need to condition players to not do that back step. Every Achilles has looked like that after stepping that way. That sucks dude. Feel so bad for him.
Not my Knicka Donte
This is happening too much.
Heal up Donte.
Welp
Please be okay
not divincenzo 😢
No!!!
Noooooooooooooooo
Damn. That’s unfortunate
Damnit man 💔
I fking hate that we all know wat injury it is. Fking hell
Rip achilles
RIP, love to watch him play. Always a hustler, this might be a losing blow for the wolves
Damn, I was worried about Aaron Gordons shit snd dontes popped
Aww man I was loving watching his hustle.
Oh no no no there’s a visible pop. Man, not Donte.
Thunder boutta walk to the chip lol
false step is a killer
Damn. Hope the news is good. These playoffs have been too good.
If I wore #0 in the NBA and have not yet torn my achilles, I would switch my #.
Poor guy. Popped his Achilles for sure. Brutal for him and the Wolves
I fucking hate injuries. If the basketball god was real, he’ll turn the injuries slider to zero
Hate to see this, and same explosive move. Eventually this going happened to more players in the future.
noooooooooooooooooo
aw man donte :/
What exactly does a torn achilles feel like?? Seems like everyone has that vacant emotionless stare when it happens
Felt like someone kicked you right above the heal on that soft part. Then there is no to little pain. Feels like your foot has gone dead. Zero flex ability. Cannot do a “gas pedal” or tippy toe.
Unfortunately, this is an obvious diagnosis
Why do Achilles tears happen so often in the last few years? More than any other time in the past.
Increasing amounts of movement around the court, probably in part because of the rise in 3 point shooting which forces defenses to be spread out.
Damn it achilles tendons really suck.
everyone clearing the way for okc once again
can anyone come up with a good reason as to why B2Bs are still a thing? he played every one of them
Not Ragu !!!
Look at his calf on the replay, we all know what it is.
at the 1:12⁄1:13 moment, you can see the “snap” on the calf.
hope it ain’t so
I didn’t see an obvious pop like Tatum or Haliburton. Hopefully it’s not a tear
there was at 1:12⁄1:13
Textbook partial rupture
The number zero curse continues.
he walked off on his own? is that good news ?
I’m hoping by the fact that he could walk off that it’s not the achilles. It definitely looked like it, but none of the other recent ones walked off like that, right?
He was able to walk off and thought it was just a calf injury but then I saw the replay. 100% achilles tear.
Fuck you hate to see it. Sucks for DDV, he was absolutely balling.
Was him walking off a good sign?
Looks like an Achilles unfortunately. Crazy how often that’s happening now.
:((((( He’s been electric all series
When we lost Donte in the playoffs we won the Finals.
Oh fuck off..
Damn! Really sucks as he’s played well
Can clearly see the reverberation throughout the leg. Man that’s an achilles no doubt. Will likely see him for the start of the 2027-28 season unfortunately.
Doesn’t matter who it is, I’ll never watch that twang down the back of the leg without feeling sick.
fuck fuck fuck FUCK
Cya later Achilles
There goes the timberwolves momentum. Donte creates so much space for others and they have to guard up on him or he makes them pay at the 3. Sad news
i’m so sorry donte:(
That’s another achilles…
My heart and well wishes go out to the guy and his recovery🫶🏼
another year, another achilles damn
oh shit there goes the achilles
prayers man, this dude does everything right and didnt deserve his season to end this way. blessings my brother
You can see it happen on 1:13 timestamp. Good speed to his recovery.
Man we all know what that is. What a shame.
