If Ime Udoka gets fired, that means KD will have seen 5 head coaches get fired within 3.5 calendar years
Notably, most of these coaches haven’t seen a head coaching job again, except the brief Monty Williams Detroit stint.
Slim reaper of coaches and culture. Once he joins your team just know your coach and team culture are cooked
Imagine trying to keep a team together and then someone texts you saying your veteran star player has been discovered with an alt account called getofmydickerson shitting on every single piece you have to try and make anything work lmao
God they should add this to some NBA videogame
In old NBA 2ks with more emphasis on offline franchise modes, you’d be penalized HEAVILY for not giving players the right role/not playing them the minutes their role commands. Talking like 7-10 points off their overall rating. It should be something like that tbh
2k about to add hate tweets from an account called “getoffmypeckerson”
“KD Challenge Mode”
You start with a franchise full of young talented players and you have to bring in the locker room bubonic plague himself and have to avoid getting fired after 1 year
Basically the young Jays Celtics when they had Kyrie and Gordon Hayward immediately going from all star to crutches
2k has Shams calling in into the games, might as well have someone read what getofmydickerson tweets or messages to someone too
KD Simulator as a vaguely gtaesque game would be peak gaming.
Too much KD blame. He is an issue but the culprit is the Rockets FO that failed to get an actual point guard after FVV went down.
Honestly we were cooked either way. KD is the only reason Ime wasn’t on the hot seat this season. If we had an injured Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks we’d have been in the play ins.
Unless you’re the 2016 warriors
Warriors won a championship before he joined so he didn’t have the power he had with other teams
Most teams brought in KD to be The Guy. Warriors brought in KD to upgrade Harrison Barnes.
KD is a good guy. He just wants to create more jobs.
Lol
Ime is getting Ime fired, not KD fwiw lol
Beyond tactics, he seems miserable to play for. He seems pissed off 100% of the time, just to varying degrees. Players need to still enjoy playing basketball to be at their best.
Nothing wrong with watching film of that game 3 back but making them watch the final plays in the locker room after the game just seems like a punishment/humiliation ritual more than a teaching moment. They all know how bad they fucked up. It was probably the most deflating moment of these young players’ basketball careers already before he did that.
As far as team vibes go, KD and Ime is a match made in the depths of hell.
This video is hilarious. And a lot of these are the same mistakes Celtics made vs. the warriors in the 2022 finals
That’s not what was said.
I didn’t say he did lol
I’m just contributing to the conversation on a board for conversation
KD the type to get Phil Jackson fired
KD doesn’t have a posse of friends so what would Phil say?
Phil Jackson would be like Steve Kerr though
I get KD is a lockerroom cancer. He absolutely is, but Ime Udoka will get fired because Ime Udoka fucking sucks
I never thought that I would root for the Lakers in a series, but watching the Rockets and how things have gone have turned me into a purple and gold Pom Pom holder. Udoka is the worst. He may not get another job after this.
Yeah, it feels wrong rooting for the Lakers, but it’s how I’ve had to go.
You realize he has a 6 year extension wtf are yall talking about?
The stuff everyone is clearing paying attention to going on with the Rockets right now, that you obviously are not 💀
Also, contract extensions don’t mean shit in professional sports for coaches lol.
If the owner wants to eat 65mm which I doubt he does especially considering the roster deficiencies that the GM didn’t address.
Of course I know it’s separate from the team/ cap space but billionaires don’t get to be billionaires by wasting money on uncertainties.
Firing Udoka paying and him 60mm just to hire another coach doesn’t solve the shooting deficiencies of this roster, and KD being a cancer.
I’m saying move KD get some shooters, recalibrate the culture, FVV gets healthy, you have your young core in place, force Ime to upgrade his offensive assistants and go ahead in 2026.
All this is other stuff is hot take knee jerk foolishness
Easy coach sniper
I forgot steve nash was even a coach. That whole period was a fever dream to me.
I know this is a KD hate thread but honestly Ime really has earned it. Much different than getting Atkinson or Vogel fired.
Coach reaper
Ime Udoka deserves to be fired. He needs a PG, huh? Well, he had James Harden but thought he was too good for him.
We gotta stop with ADHD society. Sure, KD joining the Rockets would cause NBA fans to assume that a 2nd seed team should get better. But, isn’t the goal of all other teams to get better? They’re the 5th seed without a true point guard and likely behind the scenes issues since the all star break.
Let’s be honest, even with a health FVV, do we see them better than OKC, a healthy Celtics team, a surging Spurs team, or even a health Lakers team? I didn’t even mention the best player in the world’s team, the Nuggets. Even Timberwolves have shown to be a threat the past few seasons.
There’s only one winner. KD gets to do something he loves for multimillions a year. Let him live 🤷🏻♂️
I think healthy FVV + healthy Adams + healthy KD would make them competitive against every other healthy team. But I might be wrong.
This is why nothing will change in the offseason, except maybe some bench adjustments but nothing major. It’s well known for Rockets fans that aren’t smooth brained that we basically threw in the towel once FVV was injured and next season would be the one we’re actually going to compete in. We’ve been hard capped this season so no chance at making significant roster moves, give this season a wash and compete next season. With that said, Shepherd should have gotten significantly more play time all year so he would be better prepared for next year after zero play time his rookie season.
RIP Frank Vogel. I hope that he joins the Pacers coaching staff as an assistant, but he’ll most likely stay in Dallas until Kidd leaves or until Vogel gets offered his next head coaching gig.
By now, the 2023 CBA has practically killed the player empowerment era. So Vogel stock is rising.
This idea that he can fit in any system needs to stop cuz he clearly can’t
He wants to be the system but doesn’t realize he is the problem. If Pop still coached and KD went to the spurs it would have been a rude awakening
a guy who gets caught with multiple burners obviously lacks the necessary accountability to lead a team so the blame will always fall on the coach
I mean did you see what the coach said during the press conference the other night lol.. he threw his whole team under the bus. He’s done. Regardless of how we feel about kd the coach was already on the hot seat.
Despite this Reddit meltdown, Ime is not getting fired
Ime is for sure getting fired. The Rockets were planning on contending. Obviously, that was a stretch, but they were a actually a disaster this year- despite the record (mostly due to a hot start.)
They blew a historic 18 4th quarter leads, and were 1-8 in overtime. There is a serious coaching breakdown, and I’m sure Fertitta and Stone know they need to move on from Ime. It’s not only that he’s a awful in-game and development coach, it’s that he throws his players under the bus regularly and has created a toxic environment.
There is simply no way the Rockets can keep him and save face. He’s gone.
Can someone make this template for Lebron including assistant coaches?
Modern day Rick barry. Supremely talented dickhead
In anticipation for a KD reunion, the Warriors are pre-firing Steve Kerr.
Seen or caused?
The coach sniper
Kings or Bulls will hire Ime if he lowers his asking price
Kd will not be here next year either
Wth does calendar year even mean here? 5 coaches in 5 seasons, no unnecessary word juggling.
With him being the reason, no less.
But, I do blame the franchises as well.
So many people wanted to pretend he was an equal - or, hilariously, even better - than Bron.
How tf is it kd problem? Ime was on the hot seat from last year he kept having Steven Adams on the floor watching curry switch onto him all series and did nothing about it
Him and Kyrie are the biggest toxicities I would think twice about, even for the rivals.
Ime Udoka will definitely not get fired, but it just go to show you how impactful KD is to any team
I honestly think KD shouldn’t be in the league after this, go play in China or Euroleague
Kryptonite Durant
Slim Reaper at it again
He got Kenny Atkinson fired too
vibe terrorist
I’m officially to the point where I’m just blaming Durant wherever he goes. As soon as he joins a team, the team chemistry just tanks. Just look at the difference in Phoenix from last year to this year. I’m sure Houston will be fine when he leaves.
I’m really curious how KD will be remembered. His first 8 seasons with the thunder he was a darling of the league, pulls that egregious move to GSW, and doesn’t see a lick of success outside of it.
Will he be known as a perennial top 3 player for a good portion of the 2010s or is he gonna be remembered as the walking toxic locker room
It was coach killa KD who said for the world to hear when he was with the NETS…We really don’t need a head coach AND the world is flat believer Kyrie agreed
Say no more All the evidence we need coach killa
KDickerson is the problem
Idk I feel like Sengun deserves some blame for not taking any real leap this year and you can’t put that on the coach. The opportunities were there but he hasn’t shown much growth on a skill level or athletically this year. It would be dumb to fire him after this season
Next stop Golden State or LA?
There is no chance he will after that huge extension less than a year ago (I’m not saying he shouldn’t based on performance but I can’t see the owner eating that one so quickly and there are plenty of excuses to buy all of them time).
Bathtub water drinker, baby killer. It is about time he is exposed. Lucky for him he is good at balling cause otherwise he would shoot up schools. He needs professional help. Always using money excuse to deflect from his problems.
“It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”
Houston really needs a veteran coach like Glenn Anton Rivers to take over and establish a culture that can get these Rockets to the second round (maybe even a game 7!).
I googled him, and I can not believe he’s unemployed! If I’m Houston I don’t even wait for the series to be over to pull the trigger.
The nickname “Slim Reaper” is more appropriate now more than ever….
It’s what he does!
Why would Udoka get fired? The roster construction sucks.
Because it’s easier to change the coach than the players, and because Ime’s offense has been an absolute mess this year. A playoff loss (maybe even a sweep) in a series they were favored could be the nail in the coffin. Him seemingly throwing the players under the bus didn’t help either, easy way to lose a locker room.
But you’re right that the roster construction is a mess. Rockets needed a proper point guard and more shooting. It would have been tough for any coach to put an above average offense on the court. Management doesn’t want to take blame though after spending big to bring in and extend KD.
Still crazy to me Rockets didn’t make a move for a guard given the players that were available for cheap at the trade deadline. Huge whiff by Rafael Stone.
It just confused me that everyone wants to fire the coach when KD has proven time after time that he kills chemistry. I think the Rockets would’ve been in a better position if they had traded for Devin Booker over KD.
He’s an absolutely dreadful coach.
Trade KD for DBrooks and JGreen and keep Udoka
Why would Ime get fired after 2 50 win seasons? I mean I’m sure the expectation was to get out of the 1st round but no one was thinking this was a WCF or bust season.
Also its crazy how these folks are trying to pin last nights loss on him, Jabari smith just has to dribble the ball and wait to get fouled. The doofus just doesn’t need to foul smart on a flailing 3. Reed Sheppard turns the ball over…WTF is a coach supposed to do about all of that? I’d go off too if my team was so dumb late in a winnable game
30 seconds AND the ball smh
which would put them down 1-2 in a 1st round series against a team missing 2 of its 3 best players… the offense has been unwatchable for more than 1 game
He doesn’t have the fcking personnel, they have no shooters, no PG and the star they brought in to lead doesn’t lead and can’t operate getting blitzed by a double team…..go figure. Could things be better offensively I guess but you tell me who’s the reliable shooter on that team? Who should be running the offense?
The GM fcked this up royally
which do you think is more likely/easier to change? this is how the league works and always has lol
It’s easy to get KD outta there, recalibrate the culture and start fresh with FVV healthy and the young core.
There’s no way you fire a coach who is at the start of a 6 year extension because KD came in and fcked your culture and compounded that by not having proper personnel.
I mean you’re saying that like udoka has ever coached a decent offense though.
At a certain point it’s a coaching issue too lol
I’m not saying he can’t / shouldn’t improve but I’d give him that chance to bring someone in to help and allow him to do so with a Legit PG, FVV healthy, which they don’t have. I wouldn’t fire him, eat 60mm and run it back with KD who’s already shitted on the team AND Quit
sounds like a good way to continue being a 1st or second round team to me but who knows. kd is much better at basketball than udoka is at coaching
KD is A HORRENDOUS teammate and a culture destroyer you don’t see that?
His offenses are a disaster and the team has performed below the talent level this year. They have blown 18 4th quarter leads, are 1-8 in OT, and much of it has to do with the coach refusing to implement a simple offense that, yes, even Reed Sheppard could run and would improve with time.
Ime is an absolutely inexcusably dreadful coach for a team with competitive aspirations. He’s good at calling his players “bitches” or whatever, and if they’re really young, they try hard and sort of fear him. That’s why it worked his first two years (at least regular season it did.)
But once players realize he is probably the worst coach in the NBA when it comes to running a system, making adjustments, exploiting mismatches, the “play harder, quit being a bitch” stuff stops working. It would take too long to even go over the mind-numbingly bad decisions he made constantly all year, from rotation decisions, to in-game play callling, to development.
He needs to go, and the Rockets will let him go.
He also got Kenny Atkinson fired, although not in this exact time frame

Is this the Udoka burner?
