Marcus Smart has stepped up in the absence of the Lakers star guards and has averaged 20.3 points and 8.3 Assists with 5.4 Stocks (3.7 Steals and 1.7 Blocks) on 68.4% TS during the Lakers first 3 games against the Rockets
20.3 points, 8.3 assists, 3.7 steals and 1.7 blocks. The stocks number is the wild part to me, 5.4 steals + blocks a game from a guard is ridiculous in my opinion.
And it’s not like Smarts just getting hot on a few shots either. He’s doing it on decent volume: 11.3 FGA and 8 FTA per game, while sitting at 68.4 TS%. For a guy who has never really been known as an efficient scorer, that’s a massive swing.
Playmaking has probably been just as important too. He’s got 25 assists to 11 turnovers, so around a 2.3 AST/TO ratio, while basically being asked to do a bit of everything.
