Luke Kornet steps up with Wemby out in the win: 14⁄10 with 2 blocks
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401869382
14 points
10 rebounds
2 assists
2 blocks
6⁄9 FG, 1⁄1 3PT, 1⁄2 FT
The title neglects to mention that HE SHOT A THREE for the first time in, like, three seasons? And he made it!
And the announcers were completely oblivious to how crazy it was they were just like “kornet for 3 -_-”. If only we had local broadcasts in round 1 still
it’s because Kornet used to be a legit spacer. Shot 36% from 3 in his first two years with the knicks, then apparently he had an injury that messed with his mechanics and so the celtics just had him be a traditional center. I mean it worked and got him a ring but I think it’s worth trying to get it back next season
Yeah. If Kornet could be a decent shooter those double big lineups with Wemby would be crazy.
He has the NCAA record for most 3s made by a 7 footer lmao
There are going to be some mildly surprised Celtics fans waking up to this thread in a few hours
I’m furious there’s no highlight of this
Best playoff 3 point shooting percentage ever at 3⁄3 from 3 now in his career postseason. Way better than that Curry bum
Wanted to put Luke ‘the real chef’ Kornet but then the title would be way too long
Luke “SPLASH” Korndog
I’ve seen titles that are nearly a paragraph, you would have been fine.
I mean Luke K. is a well known sharpshooter from 3, I fail to see what the big deal is
Dusting off the old weapons
I saw that and I was like “is…is this a secret weapon???”
and everyone just went along like this was a routine play for kornet. Hopefully, it becomes routine next season. Needs to dust off that shooting touch he had with the knicks
he wanted to shoot a 3, sometimes a man gets tired of putting his tip in and wants to contribute differently
I think he attempted one in one of our last regular season games
Yea. Spurs weren’t wasting a Luke Kornet 3 ball game.
That 3 started the comeback
Not even remotely but it was sick as fuck
Let’s be honest, Scoots technical for yapping started the comeback. Unlucky for him
He used to be a stretch big when he came into the league. He changed his game so much
He’s written in his blog about how devastating it was to lose his jumper, which he believed to be his most valuable skill and the key to him making it in the NBA. Awesome to take that kind of hit and bounce back like he did.
If he was more willing to shoot midrange jumpers every once in a while he’d be so much more dangerous. As it is, defenders now don’t even consider him a threat unless he’s within layup range. He finds himself unguarded close to the paint a lot and never capitalizes on it.
God I wish we got a highlight of this but we needed a post of every single LeBron made basket
Boston really had KP, Kornet, Horford & Queta as their bigs last season, just an embarrassment of riches
Porzingis barely plays anymore and had an illness that nobody could figure out what it is
Horford was starting to show his age last year and looked washed up parts of this season outside of the play in game vs the clippers
Queta had a good regular season but is proving to be almost unplayable in the playoffs so far. Plus last year he was not even close to the level he’s playing at this year
It wasn’t as great as you think
It’s the talent more than anything, even if it didn’t mesh well
Kornet is a huge floor raiser. It’s hard to understate just how important he is on both ends of the floor for this team.
Spurs don’t have a winning record without Wemby without Kornet and Fox leading the way early in the season.
Thank you, Celtics!
No problem! And thank you for D White!
The most perfect trade: Derrick for Luke!!! Enjoy! We love Luke!!
:D
front offices should be ashamed for letting San antonio sign Kornet for a deal with a PARTIAL GUARANTEE on the 3rd year and a TEAM OPTION on the 4th year
hes gonna make only like 5% of the cap by then
We all knew he’d be a steal on that contract.
He’s not flashy, but he does everything you want a backup C to do.
Plus the vibes are amazing.
Kornet was the #1 target of nerd Spurs fans in the offseason. We’ve seen teams with great Centres struggle without competent backups, and moving those minutes to be a pretty good player, rather than a minimum guy is really valuable. He’s been all season.
Plus, the celebration after he hit his 3 was iconic.
If the 76ers realised that during Embids prime they probably win the 2019 chip
Daryl Morey refusing to listen to what the fans were saying for years
GIVE EM THE NASTY LUUUUUUKEEEE
He’s been so good with and without Vic so far this series. Felt like he was slumping a bit towards the end of the season, lingering injuries potentially, but man he’s holding it down so well. Thank you KORNDAWG
yeah but tbh he’s a playoff riser, he more than made up for it when it mattered already.
so many nba podcasts laughed that we paid Luke 40 million. He’s severely underpaid haha.
THEY HATE TO SEE A WHITE BOY CATCHING VIBES
DON’T ASK ME WHO “THEY” ARE
Luke vs Timelord lol.
He was awesome! Lob threat, competes for boards on both ends, obviously unselfish, butter from 3.
Lukesanity
Kornet must be what they call a playoff riser. He seems to be doing better now than in the regular season.
Such an underrated part of our success this year
Best backup big in the league my god
idk his on off numbers don’t look great
Big Luke, he played a big part in our win tonight!
Kornet Kontest for THREE!
KornyforKornet
Hell yeah. Love to see my boy King Korn stepping up big.
Dude was playing good D late in the 4th when he was gassed as hell with 5 fouls. Great performance.
Thank you so much Celtics fans
140% FGP
bostoner - KAWRNET THE KAWNQUEROR KANNAWT BE STAWPPED!
you can just hear it roll of the tongue. The gave us a great one. we’re blessed by his presence.
Donovan Clingan is darkness in this series, even when the Spurs don’t have Wemby.
This isn’t the first time Luke has stepped up when his team needs him and has to contribute more. Last year against the Knicks, I remember a game where he also gave his all and showed he knows how to deliver.
Magic City Luke baby
Spurs-Celtics connection RAAAAAAAH I FUCKING LOVE ROOTING FOR AN EAST AND WEST TEAM
I think Luke Kornet is actually the top bench guy in win shares this season even more than Keldon. This dude just wins games.
Celtics diaspora coming up huge today
Luke is the quirky white guy we have needed since the red rocket
