Getting a high 2nd and Simons for an expiring Vucevic was good business and I think they were just happy to get off Ball and White. It’s not like they’re irreplaceable.

The talent is there for New Orleans, but to be fair they’ve been handcuffed to Zion, their most talented player, who has been hard to build around because of injuries.

I might be in the minority, but Bulls aren’t that hopeless. You got Giddey for your next era, very rare true pass-first PG. That’s a solid direction—just needs to keep building it. Plus, great city, good market, culture.

Dosunmu is the definition of a normal starter that gets you like 12/3/3, him having 1 good game recently doesnt mean his worth frps, bulls getting 4 second round picks essentially for him is not terrible.

Frankly getting out of Zach’s contract without giving up picks was impressive. People were saying it’d take at least one FRP for any team to accept him.

Giddey is worth more than a late FRP and Caruso was a free agent that summer so no one would have bothered offering more when they could have just brought him in the next year.

Same with Coby and Ayo. They’re free agents this summer. The Bulls were openly saying they weren’t going to extend them, so getting anything in return for a 3 month rental is all you can hope for.

It’s still horrible mismanagement, but mostly because they ran with a pat hand for too long. But the idiots who did that were fired so at this point who gives a fuck. They cleaned house and have a totally blank slate for a new GM to use when they come in.

The fact that the Bulls are 4th all time in titles speaks to just how incomparable Michael Jordan is. They were completely terrible before he got there, to the point he got asked on draft night if he “thinks he can fix that Chicago thing.” And obviously they’ve been terrible since, but right in the middle is 6 NBA titles. 

None of those guys were ever getting firsts, seconds were always the most we were gonna get. Which is exactly why we should’ve kept Ayo.

Also they did get a first back in the Zach Lavine trade.

The only one I have an opinion on is Ayo. He wasn’t really worth a first. Maybe next year, if he continued to play well and signed a reasonable contract. He’s been great for us, but he was having a career year and due for a contract which reduces his value and makes GMs hesitant in case he regresses.

A highly regarded, but so far disappointing prospect, and a bunch of seconds/filler feels about right.

Well, you see, that team wasn’t good and should have been blown up sooner. Their best players were kept way too long, so it makes sense a bad team’s best palyers weren’t worth that much in trades after they got old and expensive.

They held on too long to Caruso. The warriors were ready to give the bulls a 1st round pick for him in February 2024. 1st round pick plus Moses moody for Caruso and maybe Drummond.

The Bulls front office and ownership is awful.

I think this says more about how good their team actually was before these trades. Contracts matter, the guys that couldve gotten value didn’t really have great contracts. I think they couldve gotten a 1st for Vuc if they traded him sooner to. It looks like they were looking for players in return moreso than picks, or maybe the picks offered weren’t as appealing. I remember thinking they got a great deal for Ivey before his implosion…tbh they should’ve filed a grievance about that, they got pretty fucked outta that situation, im sure DET knew what was going on

Yeah we’re well aware. If it wasn’t for the lightning in the bottle that was the MJ era and that very brief Rose era with Thibs, they’d be far and away the worse run franchise. The ownership cares almost entirely about ticket sales and our front offices have been incompetent. We constantly over value our players and hold onto them too long.

AK’s biggest mistake was not trading these players when they still had value. We were never getting back FRPs for Vooch and Coby who were both on expiring deals. The Ayo trade was the only one I disagreed with because it wouldn’t have been too expensive to re-sign him and he would have been a great role player even for a rebuilding team.

Ayo has good playoff game and here we are lol. None of those guys are worth 1sts and thank you to the Sacramento Kings for taking Zach fucking Lavine away from Chicago.
