Mike Brown, for the second game in a row, went on a rant about officiating in response to a question about Hawks defence
JJ had two and 1s not called. Kuminga got called for a blocking foul that was nothing. And multiple blatant illegal screens. That was in like the last 5 min. You didn’t lose the game bc of the refs. Mike brown seems like a loser. Why should PF be equal. That doesnt even make sense.
As soon as the Hawks used their second challenge you could tell the refs got the call to make it close.
No reason to only have 2 challenges when you win them both and the refs are this bad.
There were 4 other occurrences afterwards that would be easily won challenges but they ran out so they just got screwed over lol
Yep absolutely insane for Brown to come in here blaming the refs.
They swallowed the ref for you guys at the end and gave Brunson a very questionable And 1 that was far less contact than the two JJ’s at the most important part of the game.
Jalen literally got the putback because 3 Knicks quit playing expecting the foul call.
Jalen couldn’t hit a free throw last night so I’m guessing they would have preferred the foul being called
Also KAT played basketball. This team talking about the refs, it just doesn’t even feel real.
Two games in a row the refs gave it to NY by swallowing their whistle while eye fucking KAT setting an illegal as hell screen.
Mike a bitch
Were they as thirsty for KAT as VanGundy was, though?
That is the point: He wants even more lob-sided whistle for the upcoming games, knowing his team’s big market profile.
And everyone is pointing out illegal screens but you all forget this man had been an assistant coach for GSW dynasty and would only be shocked if the refs call an illegal screen while the ball is in the hands of his star guard lol
I remember seeing a couple replays on NAWs drives and twice it was just an uncalled foul too lol. He’s having a rough series offensively but that just made me laugh
Thibs got fired and all it did was make the Knicks worse 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You didn’t lose the game bc of the refs
All these coaches know that, it’s gamesmanship to try to influence the officiating going forward. Its why I’m not a fan when people say “look even the coach says the refs were in the bag for the other team so you know its true” like yeah no shit the losing coach is saying that. Players will argue to a refs face that they didn’t commit a blatant foul or last touch. Jobs, titles, and millions of dollars are on the line. It just generally is not coming from an objective place, especially in the emotion of the game and right after the game.
How were there people who seriously thought this guy was an upgrade from Thibs?
Everyone knows he’s not. But the Knicks fired Thibs without any plan to replace him. The coaches they wanted declined. So they got this resting-dunce-faced potato looking turd
But he ran sprints that one time with his players!
I was told so so so many times on the Knicks sub that Leon HAD a plan when he clearly didn’t
knicks FO assembled an elite starting 5 then hired this guy to bring it home lmfao
5 picks for Bridges, and he produced 0 pts on 0-3 (+/- of -26) and Hart 2 pts on 1-9
Thibs also would have played those guys last night.
5 picks for bridges because he’s a two way player with size who doesnt miss games. who else can say that?
He might start missing games if he doesn’t play better
Elite starting 5? Look at their plus and minus together. It’s not great.
plus and minus doesnt change that you have a point guard that can drop 30 on any night, ultimate glue guy in josh hart, 2 elite 3 and d guys and the best shooting big man in the modern game. thats an elite starting 5
What about defense/
bridges, hart and OG are all solid defenders at worst
having 5 good players doesn’t make a great team. They need to be able to play together and their plus and minus together is about even which is actually really bad for your 5 best players. While the Hawks for the season was +40 which is insanely good. They have an identity and chemistry.
every team thats down in the playoffs right now has a bad coach. everyone can see that
That doesn’t work together at all. Also idk how anyone can call Bridges elite at this point.
bridges would be the 2nd best player on your team after jalen
Nope. Y’all just completely overrate how good he was on a bad Nets team. But good luck with that logic.
Crazy man. The Knicks 4-5th best player is our second best player yet they’re losing. dunno how that happens.
Just all box score and stat watchers. If you win you’re better. That’s the whole point of the game. The rest of the stats don’t matter.
Maybe the Knicks and Hawks should replay game 2 and 3 since it’s a fluke and the Knicks are better.
The way Bridges is ok there’s nothing elite about that starting 5.
a bunch of all stars and all nba talent doesnt make a starting 5 elite. ok
Who exactly are the bunch of all stars that aren’t all nba here lol
when was the last time the bulls had an all star?
What does that have to do with what he said?
lil bro is all over the thread crashing out
why are you speaking for him? lmao
2 All-NBA/All-Star does not make an elite starting 5, I could concede 3 with OG, but Hart and Bridges are not all-star level players.
Elite and we have the worst player on the league as a starter
When your a sports team unless you have a significant upgrade who’s available then why would you sack a coach who’s done a very good job with your team.
I understand The Knicks wanted to sack Thibs so they could modernize the offence but replacing him with Mike Brown was a big joke.
Cause their offense needed more juice outside of Brunson isos, and Mike Brown had a great track record of elevating offenses with ball movement, cuts, screens, etc. All stuff he picked up from GS and his time in Sac. And at least on paper, their roster is good enough defensively to where I thought there wouldn’t be much of a dropoff under Brown
That was my thinking, I thought it was a great hire at the time
I feel like on paper they’re a bad defense because KAT is average on his best days, and Brunson is a non defender. So 2 their 5 starters are gonna get hunted, and the other 3 can not compensate for that unless they’re all clones of prime Draymond Green.
I think the Thibs firing makes sense, but the Brown hiring was not the move.
They should’ve had something lined-up before they pulled the trigger. I still don’t know why they didn’t go with Mike Malone.
All three coaches challenges in the game went the Hawks way.
Hawks burned their challenges at the start of 4th quarter and were out of challenges for the majority of 4th quarter
Also the hilariously illegal screen by KAT on the final ATO play for the second game in a row goes completely uncalled and Brunson still can’t get it to go.
L2M will say Towns foul and they won’t call it again in the next game. But to be fair, I won’t have liked if that ended the game. It feels more satisfying this way, lol
Maaaan Yeah if the options are winning on a foul vs live play, but if it’s winning on a foul vs losing on no call, I’m taking the foul all day
Them calling an illegal screen ona guy who constantly cheats like that is perhaps the most satisfying way for a game to end.
Nah fuck that. Rules are rules.
Hindsight is 20⁄20 but Brunson had a pretty good look from 3 (because of the illegal screen) if Hart didn’t take an extra dribble before passing
he does it all game & never gets called. Look back at most of brunson’s “open” 3’s and there’s a 50⁄50 shot (or better) that it’s preceded by a blatantly illegal screen from KAT. Not to mention the whistle Brunson & Hart (et al) get driving to the basket vs. JJ getting hacked all night with no call.
But the 2 challenges the Hawks used were kind of ridiculous calls. The second I dont even think there was contact at all
As a third party I would actually favor the calls were in favor of the Knicks for the majority of the game
No “but” needed, that was his whole point
But the 2 challenges the Hawks used were kind of ridiculous calls.
Right, which was super annoying because they were so obvious and we didn’t have a challenge down the stretch (when there were a few more questionable calls we could have challenged)
LMAO fuck you potato-head. The refs have been trying to give yall this series the entire time.
I have an awkward username for this series…
Just means you can’t be Mike Brown
That’s what Mike Brown would like you to think
lmao oh mikey. I thought he turned the corner in SAC but NY has proven that a lot of coaches have very low ceilings. dude just get KAT more involved lmao its not complicated
You don’t even need to run plays for Kat, dude geniunely was a one man offence in those early Wolves years, just tell him to shoot more and play his game dammit and let him be himself instead of making him play like PJ Tucker
That’s Mike browns biggest flaw. Hes too focused the the team running his “system” and playing exactly how he wants them to, instead of playing to the strengths of the players he has.
Its. that. simple.
If KAT isn’t taking 8 3’s a game why even have him on the floor? Just bafflingly stupid to play such a bad defensive big so many minutes but not actually utilize his skill that compensates for that
Mikey 😂😂😂
The plus minuses for the Knicks were wild for a 1-pt game.
Naw keep on running the clogged toilet offense, maybe one of these flushes will finally go down!
Have they tried cutting the turd in half with piss?
my guy, you put deuce mcbride on mccollum and had josh hart guarding the inbounds pass, then ran iso brunson with the whole goddamn arena knowing it was coming
lmfao
So basically the same gameplan as Thibs on offense, paired with worse defense.
He put Terence Davis on Curry for game 7 of the 23’ playoffs when we had Davion Mitchell. War crime
Whining about refs in a game where your calls were more generous overall is… a move. Like NY is a great team, but every person who coaches the Knicks seems to struggle with rotations and understanding who should be on the floor. I think fixing that should be priority #1, not complaining about officiating.
Yeah this is such fucking loser behavior. They should fire him mid press conference at this point.
Mike “I’ll tell you what the problem is” Brown is not the guy you want figuring out rotations.
It’s hilarious that without fail this postseason, blaming the referees is the only reason why teams lose according to postgame interviews
That’s because basketball is a flawed sport with rules that are impossible to enforce properly, giving refs enormous influence over the result and making them easy targets as they will 100% make several mistakes over the course of a game.
Also it’s just commonplace for fans blame the referees now. I’m old enough to remember when that was loser behavior and people valued having an internal locus of control. Now it’s been completely normalized to externalize blame from yourself onto anything else you can think of as a coping mechanism. Accountability is at a cultural low
At this point I just assume anyone who does this post game is showing that they’re online and caught up in narrative
They’re trying to avoid accountability so they can keep their jobs.
Very typical behavior from Mike Brown.
Tbh I really think he’s trying to redirect the locker rooms frustration towards the referees instead of at each other. I don’t think he’s a good coach but I do think he has high EQ and he’s showing it here.
Oh fuck off
There’s been two blantly illegal screens on KAT the last two games in the final minute that haven’t been called.
Hilariously, the one time the KAT moving screen into Brunson 3 has worked against the Hawks this season was a regular season game they won with it, resulting in running into the Hawks in the playoffs. Hahahahahahah
I mean it worked in game 2; Brunson hit a huge three when KAT butt-checked NAW into the Netherworld
The KAT illegal screens are pissing me off.
They can’t call anything on KAT in the final minutes, because that would mean he’s involved with the game and apparently that’s against the rules.
Knicks been floppin like fishes all over the place
It’s 100% obvious that the refs are officiating in favor of the Knicks this series, unbelievable that they’re whining about calls.
Absolute insanity.
The refs have nothing to do with your star player turning the ball over at the end of the game and Mikal Bridges putting up absolutely nothing
The refs were blatantly favoring the Knicks lol
Every Knicks fan owes Thibs an apology.
nah he wasnt a good coach either
He was a stubborn mule who believes bench players are evil, Mike Brown is stubborn in the sense of not adjusting anything (and if I said Taylor Jenkins was probably the better pick of their last options)
exactly
What Crafty James McCollum does to a man
El Presidente
Adam Silver needs to grow some nuts and punish these players and coaches for this crap. It’s way out of hand, to the point everyone on this app thinks its okay to blame someone else for your loss. Loser behavior
For real it’s so grade-school. I think I saw something that said even if you removed all of OKC’s FTs from this series they still are up 2-0 on the Suns
Okc only had 3 more fts in game 2. Booker even had 1 more than SGA. But just easier to blame refs over protecting the ball since Suns have a ton of turnovers.
Yeah having coaches and players call refs out by name and then you have owners going on social media complaining. It’s just not a good look for the league and something has to be done. These players have so much influence to the younger generation and all they are telling them is that it is ok to make excuses and blame others for your shortcomings. I hate it so much
It’s funny because Booker is literally one of the most egregious baiters in the league. There are literally stats to prove this!!!!1!1
As a Knicks fan I can tell you we are not blaming the refs we are squarely blaming Mike Brown’s terrible rotations and inability to draw up coherent offensive plays.
Yeah, I don’t see many Knicks fans blaming the refs. When even the most diehard fans aren’t complaining about the refs, but the damn coach is? That’s not a good look
Its so obviously not the refs, Brown is such a loser for this.
They’re cooked
Refs literally been trying their hardest all series to help the knicks win man fuck outta here
Chris Finch has started an epidemic of cry babies.
I think it’s hard to tell if coaches are good or bad because you don’t get too much exposure to what their preparation is or what they’re saying during the game.
That being said, I could tell for sure when Mike Brown was coaching LeBron in his first Cleveland stint that he’s not a smart person.
His all defense line up with 15 sec was comical. CJ scored immediately like no one was even on the floor
There are some games where I appreciate coaches doing this because the calls truly were overwhelmingly imbalanced. This was not one of those games.
Bro literally benefitted from two major no calls on KAT illegal screens in the final seconds of both games
No one watch KAT’s screens at the end of the last two games. Nothing to see there.
the media’s collective fellatio over the mike brown signing was something special. he’s such a dogshit coach. imagine going small ball on defense when you’re up 1 and you know CJ is trying his best to get the ball. what a dumbass.
Lol this is not a rant.
This dude is such a loser.
My kingdom for an illegal screen call
Im becoming increasingly convinced there are two main archetypes of coaches
X’s and O’s guys
Doc Rivers type “Locker Room Manager/ Player Coach Guys”
Some rare coaches have both
But group 2 wins in the playoffs in spite of their coach, not because of them
Ngl I was hating on this excuse but it works for everything. I fucked up at work yesterday and blamed the officiating, my boss just stared and couldn’t say anything afterwards. Went home and forgot to buy groceries so my wife was pissed. Blamed the officiating and she got real quiet. Forgot my moms birthday. Told them it was Scott fosters fault and they were similarly speechless.
Would recommend
I got called out for cutting in line at the store the other day, and I resorted to my reddit training. I started ranting about Tim Donaghy and how it’s a big conspiracy led by Adam Silver. Even started frothing at the mouth a little. It worked, everyone just got quiet and I kept my spot. Thanks kind stranger.
Was the officiating bad?
Only caught the 4th but it didn’t seem that bad to me.
The officiating has been bad but not in the way that Mike Brown should be complaining about lol
I’m a Hawks homer so take my opinion with a grain of salt. It was better than Game 2 but that’s not saying much. Refs are clearly favoring NYC in these games.
Jalen Johnson was getting mauled in the paint with no calls over and over.
Game seemed relatively fairly officiated until Hawks used both challenges on obvious overturns and then as soon as they didn’t have a challenge remaining the refs put New York’s cock all the way down their throat and tried to bring them back into it.
Wasn’t bad. But KAT getting away with that hold on the final play was horrible
3 games against the Knicks (including the regular season one) vs Hawks have come down to the final shot this season.
KAT levels someone with the most obvious illegal screen for Brunson and it goes completely uncalled. All 3 games.
Record? 1 Regular season win (ensuring this matchup happens) and 2 playoff losses. Congratulations, you played yourself dummies.
They need a real point guard instead of that 6th man they currently have. No one is looking to set the table and Brunson is really the only one who scares anyone when he puts the ball on the floor. They’ve got a really solid roster but no one on the floor to drive it.
This is not a rant.
The majority of Knicks fans are blaming Mike Brown. Haven’t seen anything about the refs in the subreddit.
I get Brown has to stick up for his guys to the media, but drawing up so many ATOs that are just Brunson ISOs after that wasn’t working, sticking Towns on the weakside corner, not doing anything to try and give anyone else a clean look. Shit was ROUGH
Stumbling and bumbling through his answer like it was a game he had to coach.
He’s an embarrassment. You’re coaching for your job brother.
Temu Doc Rivers
Im a Knick fan, officiating is fine. And im okay with bashing the refs, we got screwed by them last year against the Pacers. Ill also say we got a favorable whistle against the Pistons.
This dude needs to stfu and start working. Thibs was stubborn, but I never questioned his passion or attentiveness.
The refs were aiding the Knicks during there run yesterday. Let’s not do this Mike.
Postcard from Sacramento: we feel your pain Knicks fans
He’s out getting g-g-groceries Julian?
Bro should update his resume
Starting to sound like chris finch
And for their next trick, they’re going to make his job disappear if he loses in the first round!
As a cavs fan I love seeing another team in a big spot fail with mike brown. I was so mad when the Cavs brought him back as if he showed anything in his first stint.
This idiot only knows hero ISO ball to end games, he got bailed out by the hero LeBron.
He talking about kat’s moving screens that are never called? Officiating has been far worse in other series compared to this one
WHAT
The Kuminga block call was hilarious, KAT no call, multiple no calls on Jalen drives.
Mike buddy. This is the NBA. You a big market team. The NBA is not trying to fuck you lmaooooo.
That’s some sore loser shit, man. Brown got hilariously outplayed because somehow, he couldn’t up with anything better than Brunson iso down the stretch.
He wants the free throws even, lol.
The Knicks have 9 more attempts in the series.
Maybe he should rethink that.
The coaching in the series has been no contest - Quin is coaching circles around Mike.
Oh fucking brother, can’t wait for the report that shows KAT got away with yet another illegal screen at the end of the game.
The Knicks just haven’t seen perimeter defense like this before. They’ve been spoiled by Brunson bailing them out at the end of games, but what happens when you play a team where all 5 players can guard on the perimeter and have length to bother Brunson? And they have two of the best perimeter defenders in the league? And you can’t put Mitchell Robinson on the floor on offense in the 4th because he’s Ben Simmons at the free throw line?
The only answer for the Knicks is they somehow figure out how to get KAT the ball inside the paint in clutch time, the Brunson hero ball stuff might work sometimes but not enough.
We’re firing this guy for doc rivers aren’t we😞
20-26? The sixers beat the Celtics with 10 less free throws.
Kat literally got away with one of the worst illegal screens and held Dyson creating a huge amount of space for Brunson.
Big mouth potato head
Yawn. Yet another coach that lost complaining about the refs.
Lmaooooo
Lots of crying after losses this year. What happened to “Players got to play better and I got to coach better?”
Now it’s cry about the refs….
Complaining about the refs when it’s OKC gets thousands of upvotes but any other team and the fans correctly make fun of the losers.
Both the difference and reason why are obvious.
It is. Heavy is the crown.
It’s always the same few coaches too.
