3 years ago (April 24, 2023) Darvin Ham made this very inspirational timeout speech.
Salute!
Go hard on them dudes
What I tell the army of bears standing outside the club on twink night
Imagine u r bron or AD. U go to the bench in a close game during a timeout. U r expecting your coach to draw up a play and he comes out and says this BS. I would be livid.
“Hey. Everybody…..play hard….. that’s all I got.”
I’m lovin it!
How do I unsee a video
I’m pretty sure that’s just Jamahl Mosley today
“put the ball… in the hoop… its not that hard…”
And then this guy teams up with Doc Rivers. It’s the two fucking stooges
It’s almost like they don’t show the x and os on those videos but gotta shit on every coach.
Cmon cuh. Darwin ham didnt draw up no damn plays. There were so many times lebron came out of a timeout and told his teammates to forget whatever bs ham drew up and to follow his lead.
Sounds like Dion Waiters “reading” his 2K line
Bro don’t remind me
ham being a dumb ass single handily cost us two years of the bron-ad era smh people always bring up that wcf run but he wasn’t even doing anything thing the same mistakes he made later on were still there just not as frustrating cause bron/ad and the role players were on a heater
I lay the blame ultimately on Jeanie. Hiring Ham was just a dumb move.
They needed someone that can “talk to” russ. Because vogel wanted to bench him and russ got in his feels and FO backed westbrook, because they couldn’t justify the fact that they blew up a championship roster for a guy that was going to be benched making 50mil a year
I will never forgive Russel Westbrook for what he has done
He did nothing wrong. The lakers FO tried to be cute and it blew up in their face.
He wouldn’t play ball. He behaved in an unprofessional way and it’s a huge reason why the Lakers won’t sniff another chip. Luka may change your fortunes, but I’m just not convinced about that.
Same result. Should’ve just benched him, kept your championship coach and made something else work.
You guys had just won a chip with vogs. Don’t blame Jeanie, all those bad moves the lakers made were pushed by LeBron. He’s had the lakers by the stones since the bubble chip
Ridiculous lebron definitely didn’t run the lakers if so we would’ve gotten derozan instead of russ.
weren’t we also in the talks of getting Turner & Hield as well?
Celtics flair. Checks out.
nahhh as a Celtics fan it disgusts me to see that people actually think like this
Think like what exactly? Has LeBron not meddled with team personnel. Am I completely making that up. I’m a LeBron fan. Wtf are you on about?
Gonna start by saying sorry for the novel didn’t think it would be this long. But to think that it all falls on Bron. I never said he wasn’t apart of key decision making, every superstar is for example Curry meeting w KD to join, and Luka being the driving factor in getting Kyrie. but before JJ, other than Mike Brown and D’Antoni the lakers only hired people that were already in the org. Ham was an assistant to the lakers, Vogel was a scout etc it wasn’t solely bc of Bron that ham was hired. Another thing is Bron initially tried to get Derozan but the Lakers wouldn’t give him a third year, which in turn led them to pivot to Russ
I don’t think its all on Bron. But he had too much say in those choices. And in public he gets to pretend he has nothing to do with it. That’s why I’m highly critical of his role in the lakers demise. The front office obviously has to take it’s criticism. But brin gets protected.
“Too much to say”
This is when you laugh because folks really think they understand the extent of things they have no direct involvement in.
“Bron gets protected”
From what? He’s been criticized his entire career. What more do conspiracy theorists want? The GM criticism has been with Bron for ages. What more do you want?
I was very specific about what he was protected from. You: “protected from what?”
Owners and their front office are who hire coaches.
With the blessing of their stars. This is my point. People will disagree but then only tell half the story in their response.
ham being a dumb ass single handily cost us two years of the bron-ad era
Even as atrocious as Ham was, he had help in that endeavor.
Rob Lowe’s evil twin:
And more that I lack the stomach to recount this morning.
God damn that’s awful. People giving Pelinka his flowers this year right now for getting us out the hole but forget he’s the one who got us there with a comical amount of terrible decisions.
The number of recent Lakers that Rob Lowe’s evil twin has acquired, who then never again played NBA basketball after leaving Los Angeles, is disgustingly long:
Carmelo Anthony, Kent Bazemore, Alex Len, Cam Reddish, Shake Milton, Christian Wood, Harry Giles, Skylar Mays, Sterling Brown, Davon Reed, DJ Augustin, Wayne Ellington, Darren Collison, Avery Bradley, Jemerrio Jones, Jared Dudley, Markieff Morris, JR Smith, Dion Walters, and that’s just from this decade.
There are an additional ten or so who played only a couple games each after leaving the Lakers.
Even a good coach – not that Ham was – would struggle with rosters composed of so many players who do not belong in the NBA.
Dwight Howard played his last season with the Lakers as well
They made the WCF in-spite of him 😭
probably wouldn’t have lost all those close games vs the nuggets if they had a better coach, but people act like they got the wcf because of him not in spite of him
contest w/o fouling
Make your free throws
foulling*
Anyone remember when this sub pretended Darvin Ham was actually a good coach for like a 3 weeks when he joined the Bucks?
r/nba loves pretending every single decision the Lakers make is a bad one, so it leads to nonsense ass moments like that
That being said, I hear there’s a HC spot open in Milwaukee…
Remember when r/nba said lakers fans were delusional for thinking Caruso was good, and then proceeded to clown the Lakers for letting him walk? Yeah… it’s more about hating on the Lakers than actual basketball knowledge
You heard wrong
Taylor Jenkins is their coach now
Gotta love when people were posting record comparisons of him and Redick!
I remember when they tried that last year when JJ had their struggles, I remember people saying JJ is worse than Ham this fuckin year when they were struggling.
I remember this
The fact that we got to the western conference finals despite having this dude as a coach will always be a miracle lol
Wow that was just… sad
How does this happen? How is this level of incompetence tolerated?
When I’m baffled by Mike Brown’s decisions I’m like, he’s not stupid, he’s been doing this his whole life, there must be something he’s seeing behind the scenes that I’m not. But maybe he’s just… stupid?
Same when I see youth leagues in the park and the coach as an adult is just screaming at kids for underperforming instead of teaching them to play the game. I’m like, is he…. just really stupid, but somehow allowed to coach these children?
I’m convince most coaches are ass. I truly think the best coaching occurs in the women’s game. Especially in the youth level. Most coaches are egotistical, confidently wrong and use performative masculinity to rally up the troops.
Holy moly, that’s Jordan Ott behind him, right?
JJ changed my life
I always assumed that Ime Udoka is just an alpha Darvin Ham but I haven’t really seen any footage from their bench before lol
I actually went to a rockets game earlier this year and I was able to hear the conversation from my seat. It was pretty bizarre but no one seemed to react much.
Ime just holds the clipboard and stares at his players during every timeout until they look away first, then he nods and says, “that’s right, that’s what I thought” before dismissing the huddle
hahah saluuuute
Always reminds me of these gems of a voice acting performance in 2k15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2wpIeZDrHE
Luke kennard sighting
helluva ball club
I’m so happy my Bucks didn’t settle for him after Doc
Me coaching my nephews little league after I’ve had a couple brewskis
Mike brown took inspiration from ham last night!!!
The picture quality makes this looks like an early 2010s game
Remember when he benched Reaves for Cam Reddish?
