In both cases, the critics are taking aim at the wrong culprits and the league is far too happy to direct the blame elsewhere instead taking responsibility for the fact that they are creating conditions where teams feel they have to load manage or tank. The implementation of the NBA’s player participation policy is fundamentally dangerous legislation that will have the exact opposite effect as intended. It’s far better for a player to take the night off than it is for them to suffer an injury.

It’s a shame he’s hurt and can’t play, he’s a great player to watch. Definitely makes sense sitting him though, a lot of Achilles injuries over the past few years started out as calf strains/soreness etc.

There’s something to be said about the high number of games and whether we need those in the face of increasing injury risk.

I’ve found that one can barely celebrate or truly savor all the stuff that happened in a game that just ended and then there’s another game with one of the same two teams (or BOTH teams) on it.

If this was about TV, there’s ways to add review/magazine material from those games without needing more games.

The question of gate/parking/food revenue is a different question and that has also probably driven up the number of games.
