The story of the series is going to be scoots emergence, and why the spurs continue to run the offense through castle when you can see the guy below him in that graphic is more efficient in the usage he gets.

Last night had a great moment where scoot and Harper went blow for blow to end the 3rd, then the spurs turned the ball back over the castle and he proceeded to miss the basket and backboard entirely on 3 different jumpers and threw a few turnovers in there.

Gotta ride the hot hand in the playoffs

Jrue, Scoot, and Sharpe have all come off the bench at different points this season, though for Jrue it was only 2 games. I imagine Sharpe and Scoot would be the bench guys if Lillard comes back at an all star level and Jrue doesn’t decline. Scoot being solid defensively means he can play with Lillard, but Lillard is pretty ball dominant, which would make Scoot a little redundant on offense unless he adapts how CJ did.

I think Dame is the one who is gong to adapt his game. I can see alternating possessions where he and Scoot each run the offense. It will save Watson Dame, too, and he would automatically become one of the best kick-out 3-point shooters in the league.

Castle is a better defensive player

I would rather have Harper running the offense. He plays much more fluid and in control, and he is much less turnover-prone. He can get into the paint and create his own look when there is nothing there, while Castle relies on getting a head of steam, which works until you run into a brick shit house like Williams III

It’s also very hard to look around and see what Kon and Edgecomb are doing with high usage, and it’s impossible to put it out of your brain that Harper was the consensus better prospect than them, and when he has actually been given run, he has played great basketball. Just very frustrating to see that and ignore it to placate a rookie of the year from a much worse class.

He has always processed the game well. Prior to this i felt like most of his good games were based around hot shooting nights, but he was able to easily get to the rim against a Wembyless team.

He usually has excellent pick and roll feel so i feel like his assist numbers should go up a bit soon. He was pitched to basketball fans as a Rose/Westbrook/Morant level athlete and he just isnt. He is more like a young Eric Bledsoe or Baron Davis lite type athlete and thats fine.

Been real impressed with how quick he’s been this series. Both Harper and Castle have had trouble staying in front of him so far.

People say his athleticism was overrated but i never thought so. I think people were looking at him through the wrong lens. He’s not a vertical athlete like Ja or Russ but more of a horizontal athlete if that makes sense. More like a Jrue Holiday/CP3 type. His blend of speed and strength is very rare for a guard his size. Makes him a pain on both ends of the floor.

I’d kill for him to end up close to prime Jrue. CP3 would be crazy, but it would be difficult to envision him having that level of skill. Still, I am a believer in Scoot needing some time to get better and he showed up big in the first two playoff games of his career

I mean the shooting is majority of his good game. He was taking contested jumpers though yeah they were within the flow of the game. He was honestly quicker than castle and got to his spots.

Scoot has been fantastic. His def was ramping up this year and now he’s playing best ball of his career on big stage. He’s absolutely owning the matchup w castle.

I don’t really get the castle hype TBH. He can’t shoot at all and his def hasn’t been that great really. Maybe just a bad matchup for him or something.
