Would a POE 1 player find POE 2 fun now?

POE 1 is my favorite game because I love the idea of theory crafting fun and unique builds that nobody else has thought to try yet. I also love how powerful you feel towards the end game.

I tried POE 2 when it first released, but everything felt slow and there didn’t feel like much room to experiment. It didn’t help that every build I theory crafted and found fun was immediately nerfed (“cast when” trigger spells, beira’s anguish infernalist, etc.)

I decided to just stick to POE 1. Lately I’ve been hearing that POE 2 has gotten better though, and I know there’s a new league soon.

Has it gotten any better on the theory crafting/build diversity front?

Does it feel any faster/more fun than the early leagues?

They don’t nerf mid season anymore unless it’s straight up a bug. The game has gotten a little faster now with the inclusion of sprint, but still not as fast as poe1. In terms of build variety it has gotten better with the inclusion of two new classes. So might be worth giving it another try.

they definately still do

biggest one of this season was 100% reduced duration

they also drop nerfs all the way up until the day before the patch so if you like theorycrafting builds its really lame not being able to begin theorycrafting till after the patch is already out

I think it can get fast and fun but it takes some time and investment, no reason not to try the new league

I think the problems you have with the build creation largely still exist. Some stuff has been nerfed, some stuff has been buffed, but there aren’t like entire new avenues and layers to explore. I think it’s fair to say build creation isn’t really deeper, just slightly different.

It remains to be seen if 0.5 is gonna address that in any fundamental way or if it’s gonna be more of the same. Reworking the endgame has been the stated focus of the patch so I’m not holding my breath for major overhauls elsewhere, but we’ll see.

I’d say wait until new league. Next league we get a big endgame update and currently endgame is one of 2’s weaker points. Still loads of fun though.

Well as someone who loves poe1, I can say poe2 is way slower but more rewarding, you actually get happy getting rares, cuz they actually matter

i really hope they keep poe 2 slower and harder then poe 1. thats what i like about poe 2. but we have to see if they make it more like poe 1 i guess.

supporting different versions of the same game is just not smart but I understand them as I see the loud part of the players forces it more and more every patch

About the slowness well they certainly did great job, just look at the time needed for ultimatum with 13 waves versus trial of chaos. Anyone finds the new vision fun?

Hmmm I have thousands of hours in PoE2. I tried PoE1 but uninstalled after a few hours so there is definitely a difference in the games.

Your character and the gameplay during the campaign will feel different compared to PoE 1, in the endgame it will feel more and more similar

Except if you like zoomy builds, current PoE 1 meta has builds that even early league and on a low investment are faster than maxed out Temporalis builds in PoE 2. Still, both games are amazing and 0.5 will (hopefully) be a good turning point for endgame players finally.
