Felt like he had more than 6 TOs, he struggled so much. He just cannot deal with a double team at all. Lakers weren’t even being fancy, they saw KD with the ball and immediately threw a double team. Worked pretty much 90% of the time.

I don’t understand why he was getting the ball past the 3pt line. Dude was getting hounded the entire time & it just reminded me of the Celtics/Nets series (KD being run down from intensity).

I liked when he had Sengun nearby to dump off and take advantage of the shifting defense. Just hard to have to play those two at the same time

How LeBron dealt with doubles and traps, and how KD failed to deal with them, needs to be made into film and studied. I know Rockets have bad spacing, but when KD was on the floor them had at most 2 non-spacers in Sengun and Amen. The Lakers played Vanderbilt, LaRavia, Ayton, and Hayes heavy minutes and none of them are spacers. It’s not like we have that much more spacing that it makes dealing with doubles and traps completely different. We do have more ball handlers but at the same time, KD could not even get the ball into the hands of Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason, etc., and these are players capable of shooting or driving and finishing.

LeBron had three turnovers in the first quarter, 0 TOs for the rest of the game. Houston threw doubles and traps at him a few times and every time resulted in a bucket. The moment the second guy started coming up, LeBron always had the ball out of his hands and flying toward the free man. Rui had an open three and Hayes got a 2+1 against a late contest from Sengun out of position. Doubling LeBron is free eats for the rest of the team.

Meanwhile KD had 9 TOs this game. Every time we threw a double it felt like it resulted in good results for us, either a bad shot for Houston or a straight-up TO. If our players weren’t so garbage in transition the score would have been worse.

Put LeBron on this Houston team and I guarantee you see their 3pt% shoot up. They have players who can shoot who aren’t getting the ball because KD can’t deal with a double in his 18th season.
