With Mason Miller getting a day off, Adrian Morejon secures a 1-2-3 9th inning save at Coors Field as the Padres win 1-0
He is also filthy. Less filthy. But filthy.
Yeah Adrian tops out around 100 instead of 104. Pathetic. 😂
this pitch says 101 lol
He was definitely Morefilthy tonight.
Does anyone know why Miller got the day off? We didn’t play yesterday.
Seems like Stammen just managing his workload this early in the season. Had pitched both nights prior and was pretty busy in general last week
Seems like the Padres always have a really good bullpen. It must be nice. 😂
Having a good bullpen and having Tony Gwynn is probably the two most iconic things the Padres are known for
Hopefully we are also known for winning a World Series soon!
And giving up the one and only homer to Bartolo Colon. And Slamarena
Legend
Ruben Niebla🤌
Formerly Darren Balsley 🤌
Meanwhile Tatis still homerless :/
Arraez had too much influence on him.
I’m not trapped in here with you
You’re trapped in here with me
Well, we didn’t for like 20 years.
Must be a new fan. There was a short period in the 2010s where we didn’t but from the 1980s to Trevor Hoffman to Heath Bell we’ve had unbelievable bullpens.
Yeah what the hell? Even in the lean years we had guys like Bell, Street, Yates, Hand, Rodney, Kimbrel, Gregerson, Adams, Otsuka, Linebrink, and my goat, the legend, Tim Stauffer… as far as I can remember, we’ve never had to worry too much about the bullpen.
My Kaua’i king Kirby Yates! So bummed he left cause he was such a good dude. I also remember Don and Mud talking about how involved his wife was with the other wives and making sure they were happy too. She even owns a company that places baby sitters with MLB families so they get the support they need.
Miller’s so good, people forgot that the Padres bullpen is still elite without him.
Imagine losing a guy like Robert Suarez and still having the best bullpen.
We lost Josh Hader, Tanner Scott, Robert Suarez and somehow I think this may be our best bullpen yet lol
Wouldn’t go that far. Need to see if Marinaccio, Bradgley, and Jakob can hang first. Jakob we’ve seen good flashes for sure
People forget how fucking good Morejon is. Dude have been like a top 10 reliever since 2024. Wouldn’t be surprised if another team gives him big money to close for them next year.
He’s been with the Padres org for 10 years, I want him to stay!
He was originally supposed to be a starter before TJs
New padres owner is gonna give him $1B
Our flame throwing right hander will get the day off. I guess we’ll have to go to the flame throwing left hander for tonight.
With 2 strikeouts. He’s following the Miller Template 🤣
Must be annoying for the batters to get a break from Miller’s 101mph avg heater only to have to deal with Morejon’s 99mph+ heater
All-time Coors Field scoreline.
I’m expecting 30+ runs the next 2 days to make up for it
You know you are spoiled when people are upset they didn’t get to see Miller only for Morejon come out and make light work of getting the save.
It’s almost like we have 3 elite closers with Miller, Morejon, and Adam.
He had a bad start to the year (wasn’t helped by our captain bobbling a few balls) but when he’s on, he’s almost as dominant as Miller.
It was more bad luck than anything. He’s a superstar.
Started off the season a bit rough but he’s back he’s such a solid player he is gonna get paiddddd.
How often do 1 nuthins’ happen at Coors?
They put the stat up. Last time the Rockies lost 1-0 at Coors was 2006. Not sure the last time the Rocks won 1-0.
2006 take me back
I had to rephrase a few times before Screwball could understand my query, but I believe this is the list: https://screwball.com/search?q=What+are+the+1-0+or+0-1+Rockies+home+games%3F
Last time the Rockies won 1-0 was April 2023. Two of the games they’ve won 1-0 were against the Padres (in 2008 and 2005).
there’s been twelve 1-0 games at coors including this one, padres have won 2 of them
Padres get to play 8 inning baseball games when they have a lead. Pretty crazy even when Miller gets the night off.
Expect the unexpected at Coors.
How does he make 101 look so effortless
Losing Suarez and still having a bullpen this good is kinda crazy.
Why did Merrill put the ball in his pocket after the catch? It wasn’t Morejon’s first save or anything.
