[Highlight] Jake Rogers breaks out a knuckleball on the mound
The stache too makes him look like a dead ball era pitcher
It’s him, Tungsten Arm O’Doyle
He’s like Old Hoss Radbourn minus the tertiary syphilis.
Bring back position players being fun on the mound. The eephuses are so boring
Gotta throw a proper eephus at least. If it doesn’t leave the camera’s frame then you’re doing it wrong.
It’s fun when they go like 5 eephuses and then just throw a 86 mph fastball though
the inverse eephus
I think it was Desi Relaford a few decades ago who had me and my buddy in shock when he unleashed a 92 mph two seamer at the knees to paint the outside corner.
Dude should have been a pitcher.

Can’t find video though

Oh wow. What a find!
You’re a wizard!
how’d you find this
Position player? That’s clearly Andrew Chafin!
-sad La Tortuga noises-
He’s the only “pitcher” to have thrown a knuckleball so far this season
Haha I was totally gonna say what’s with the Waldron erasure lol.
This statistic saddens me
I miss Tim Wakefield. RIP.
I need to know what rock I’ve been living under to not have known this…
Yeah and Curt Schilling outed Wake’s cancer diagnosis to the world on a podcast before Wake was able to himself
I was going to post the same thing. I miss watching him throw those weirdass pitches and just destroy people.
Oh shit. Really?
Starting pitchers laughing in the dugout during a 12-1 loss because their catcher just threw a knuckleball for a strikeout. Everything about this is why I love baseball so much.
Joey was still probably late on it
Punch out by a position player 🤣
Honestly feels like I could strike out Ortiz at this point, get me on Pros vs Joes!
His whole presence on the mound was incredible including the stache
Every catcher has to learn a knuckleball, it’s light enough both in velo and grip to not worry about injuries, and it gives them a way to mess with their own pitcher
Lmfao. Looked nasty too
We need him in our pen right now
No takebacksies
Reading this tonight made me chuckle
An actual knuckleball? In this economy??
Amazing!
Backup catcher K-ing you with a genuinely nasty Knuckleball has to be gut wrenching
Average Joey Ortiz experience
Ayo that was kinda nasty.
The league would be better if there was a knuckleball renaissance
If you want tee-ball sure, it’s just nice to have it be super niche
Average Joey Ortiz AB
Those seams froze completely in the last foot of that pitch. Wow. 😳
Awesome, also I think every team should have a bench position player that practices a knuckleball for this exact spot it’s a good pitch to throw without risking injury
Oh man I love this. Tim Wakefield would be proud.
He sorta looks like Walt Terrell
Here’s some guys
Sick pitch
Damn nice pitch
The motor city mustache strikes again!
Am I tripping? Does the strikeout ball just disappear with some sleight of hand? The catcher has it then reaches into the mitt for the new ball and it’s gone.
You’re totally right. I slowed it down ans went frame by frame and the ball just disappears out of his hand. I’m so confused. I need someone to zoom in and enhance!
This is fucking awesome.
r/madlads
Love a good position player pitching
That’s legit
The next 2 way player.
That was a hell of a pitch. Amazing.
You love to see it
hes nasty
That was genuinely gross
I’m getting strong Rod Beck vibes from the stache
Honestly impressive movement on that
The knuckleball is so insane to me, I used to watch the late great Tim Wakefield baffle the best hitters with it, of course there is one notable exception
Bring back Tim Wakefield! Knuckles forever
Looks like the type of guy that would throw a knuckleball.
What a pitch.
Tim Wakefield origin story
Why is this not a curveball though
a curveball has spin, and the more spin, the bigger the break.
A knuckleball is thrown with little to no spin and the air current on the seams as it “floats” towards the plate effects when, where, and how much it breaks, making it a very unpredictable pitch to control, catch, and hit
? Cuz he threw it like a knuckle ball with a knuckle grip and the ball had very little rotation like a knuckleball. And didn’t spin at all like a curveball.
Did I miss an inside joke or something?
he asked a valid question seeking an answer? idk why you had to be snarky whereas the other reply was a respectful, helpful answer
I think if you know what a knuckleball is and are operating on the assumption that flaired users are also pretty baseball literate, the first comment seems silly, like there’s a joke at play. I don’t think River_Pigeon was being unkind, I think they’re genuinely worried they’re missing something.
That said, I appreciate you advocating for respect and helpfulness, and you might be right that the comment you responded to wasn’t as genuine as I’ve read it to be.
