These announcers
Why? Why are these guys calling The Celtics game. I’m sure they’re fine. But why do the networks switch things up in the playoffs?
It stinks and it suc$
Yeah Mike Breen was calling this out. The networks pulled local coverage of the first round so we can have some random announcers even though it’s the same company NBC. So dumb
Especially since Scal was calling the Nuggets yesterday. Which is kind of fine since it gives us somewhat of a Celtics perspective on them.
scal on commentary is actually lowkey entertaining though 😭 at least he brings some personality to it
mike breen calling it out makes it even worse, like even the people inside the industry think it’s a bad decision
Mike Breen calling it out was perfect timing too - you could tell he was annoyed with whole setup. Networks always do this stupid stuff in playoffs like we don’t already have good local crews who know the teams better
This is not better, obviously. These networks do not employ enough people to deal with this. It made way more sense before.
nothing like getting used to a broadcast crew all season and then the playoffs hit and suddenly it’s two random guys you’ve never heard of 😭
Yeah, wtf, where’s the local team. Thought we had them game 2-6!!!!
getting the local crew pulled for the playoffs of all times makes zero sense. that’s when you need the most invested commentary
We are so spoiled with Scal and Drew. Makes you appreciate them even more when we have these guys calling the game.
On another note - I saw that Drew raised more than $50k(!) for charity running the marathon. Amazing!!
Bennetti is one of my favorite announcers in any sport. He’s mainly baseball (which he’s great at) but I’ve heard him do a half dozen basketball games and he’s great. Give him a chance
They need 8 crews for the first round so you wind up with some real c squad talent
“c squad talent” is exactly it. they spread the crews so thin in round 1 that nobody gets the good teams
I think you’ll enjoy them, honestly! They know ball.
fair enough, willing to give them a chance tonight. just hard to adjust when you’re used to your guys all season
I wish it could be Drew and Scal too! But when I saw who it was I was happy enough.
Drew and Scal diff but “they know ball” is all the endorsement I need
Drew is generational and Scal balances so well with him. We are spoiled for sure, especially when I stay up so late in the UK to be able to watch games.
staying up late in the UK just to watch ball is real dedication, respect. Drew really does make it worth it though
12:46am here. But it has to be done! ☘️
12:46am 😭 bro is running on pure basketball and willpower
[deleted]
honestly giving them a chance but they’re making it really hard to stay engaged lol
What channel is the game on? I’m not finding it.
“NBC Sports Network”
NBC Sports Now but that channel is not showing the game on Pluto
None if you’re on FIOS.
NbcSN its channel 1211 for me on xfinity outside Boston
Nah they aren’t fine they’re legit the most boring human beings I’ve ever heard
Who the fuck picked these people, why is national broadcast fucking awful this is sooo boring commentary wise
right?? like who approved this crew for a playoff game. the energy is completely flat
Wait, why can’t I find this game on Hulu live?
Robbie Hummel is actually a pretty decent announcer, just not much personality.
These are the worst commentators ive ever heard
I feel like I’m watching a sixers broadcast more than if even Doria was here
To be fair, Drew was running the marathon. Probably needed a bit of prep and recovery time.
Drew said on the last regular season broadcast that it would be their last because they weren’t given the call during any playoff games :(
We’re getting out shot 47⁄45 to 39⁄25 and still only down by 7pts. We might drop this game, but I’m genuinely not worried about this Sixers team.
Mean people said the identical stuff when we lost to the Knicks last year after game won. We were favored by similar amounts as we are now.
complaining about anything, 1-1
Gotta listen to Austin rivers talk about his favourite restaurants
You know, I disagree. I can’t stand homer announcers, and always watch national broadcasts when available. Last night was one of the few times that I found Scal bearable, and it was entirely because he wasn’t able to do the homer schtick.
It actually occurred to me that I’d love it if there was a rule that past players couldn’t do commentary for their own teams. I really like having a more neutral commentary crew.
