They didn’t. Its based on a McMenamin interview where he’s talking about what he thought was happening based on what he saw in practice. No medicals behind it. McMenamin hasn’t had sources within the Lakers for a while. Especially with Reaves.

Lakers going into the rockets series were +15000 to win the title. After the game 1 win, they jumped all the way up to +10000. I check ESPN + DraftKings just now and it somehow jumped even further up to +7500. Now maybe that’s because of the news that Reaves might be coming back sooner than later but that seems like a pretty big jump especially with what Shams is reporting about Luka

Also, the rockets were a -800 favorite going into the series and are now only a -225. Obv game 1 win + KD being injured accounts for some of that but idk seems odd

I mean it makes sense. Austin’s oblique injury doesn’t have the same re-injury risk or long term damage risk as Luka’s hamstring. I’m glad that they’re not planning on bringing him back in this series. If we win, great. If we lose, oh well.

I mean there’s pretty established time lines for these injuries. As long as Luka has a grade 2 tear, as reported, then he absolutely would be healthy at some point during these playoffs. As an example, finals are over 2 months from when he got hurt.
