Not wrong but you better believe it takes an incredible amount of dedication to achieve and maintain the mobility he has at this size. Tall stiffs have existed forever, but Wemby redefined what is possible as far as how fast and fluidly a body that size can move, and a lot of it is boring hard work 

Yeah but we’ve seen quite a few 7’3+ aliens that are really effective big men and reliable rim protectors purely on the basis of their height, but none of them were ever in the GOAT debate or got the hype Wemby’s gotten because a lot of big men are able to just rely on their size without having to get freakishly good at basketball in the way that smaller guys do.

Of course Wemby wouldn’t be able to be the best rim protector in the league if he was 6’4, but he also wouldn’t be the absolute 1-of-1 player he is if he hadn’t put the work in to become a basketball savant on top of it.

Easier said than done. Being that tall and providing offense as well, it takes a lot of your energy to also play defense at the highest level. It takes discipline and determination.

Bol bol, as tall as he is, is a bad defender. He’s 7’3” why on earth he’s a bad defender? for one he lacks the necessary fundamentals, IQ, and lateral speed. Second, he doesn’t have the determination and discipline to do it every possession.
