These MLB teams have the largest margins of victory in a single game over the last 10 years [@foxsports IG]
The Mets on both sides in the same year is hilarious
And that Mets win was just half a month after that loss
It was a weird time
Who are we kidding, shit like this is the norm. Weird times would be if the Mets actually performed to expectations. I’m not sure I’d even know what to do tbh
Yeah we’re weird, but i think “two 20-run games in the span of a month and on both sides of them” is weird even for us
Valid
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”
Thats nearly a couple weeks!
Baseball’s a fickle bastard as I try to remind myself.
Try. I wanna WIN dammit!
Thus proving the Nats were 41 runs better than the Phillies, of course.
We do own the most losses in baseball history too.
I think sports history, no?
I didn’t think about that but yeah, no other sport plays that many games for over a century.
I still remember the clip of that loss where Keith, Ron and Gary just started passing around the media guide and reading facts about the ‘69 world series lmao
Perfectly balanced as all things should be
The duality of Met
It’s really the most Mets thing the Mets could do
How can you not be romantic about baseball
Yeah, that’s pretty amazing.
Then there are the Rockies &1 & 5..
The most Mets thing ever
I was at the 24-4. After it got to 15-4, I was pretty much all “fuck it, lemme see how much worse the Mets can make it look like”
Only the Mets could pull off being on both ends of historic blowouts in one season. Peak chaos ball right there.
The Juan Soto curse continues
Like 15 days apart
Imagine scoring 9 runs on offense and making a list for worst losses ever.
Certainly difficult to blame the bats.
Not when the other team probably threw in a junk reliever to get their arms some rest.
8 of the runs were in the first four innings
Miami local sports station: “the Marlins bats came alive today as they score nine runs ^^^and ^^^fall ^^^29-9 ^^^to ^^^the ^^^Braves
Being only featured on here once AND having the highest number of runs from the losing teams featured is basically a win for the Marlins
They probably had the mascots out there pitching by the end.
That game was crazy…and the grand slam for the last 4 runs was the cherry on top.
UGA just beat Arkansas 26-14 in a baseball game, on Saturday. I had to double-take the sport and score when I saw it.
I remember when the Rangers beat the Orioles 30-3
Funny. I dont recall anything past this 10 year threshold. (Because of the tears…I can’t see past the tears)
Also Josh’s 4 homer game against the O’s
That’s a shame because the 2013-16 O’s were a lot of fun
2014 was a blast.
Chris Davis was wild those years
The other funny thing about that game is that the Orioles were up 3-0, so it was a comeback win for the Rangers.
The other other funny thing about that game is it was the front end of a doubleheader
The other other other funny thing about that game is that the Rangers only scored in 4 separate innings and were only up 5-3 after the 5th.
The other other other other funny thing is that the O’s had just given their manager an extension prior to the game.
The other funny thing is someone earned a save in that game
That, and also Wes Littleton getting a save for pitching the last 3 innings having inherited an 11-run lead that grew to a 27-run lead.
To be fair, that’s still an accomplishment. I know I couldn’t protect a 27-run lead in the show.
Fair point!
I was today years old when I learned a 3-inning save existed
Didn’t that game have a save in it too?
It did. Wes Littleton pitched three innings, qualifying him for the save.
To be fair, a lot of people would have lost that lead. Not anyone in the MLB mind you, but you or I maybe.
The Rangers batters made 27 outs that game. Meaning any randomly picked Rangers at bat would more likely come around to score, than they would end up getting called out.
That game had three grand slams or something it if I remember correctly
That was the first game of a double header, too. Rangers won the second game 9-7. Outscored the Orioles 39-10 for the day.
Remember that game and thinking would they score more
The funniest part is that Ohtani basically did jack shit in that Angels win lol
1 for 7 lmao
The birth of the reverse Tungsten Arm
Aluminum Leg
No, the funniest part was the Rockies winning the series getting outscored 32-12
That is a peak Angels stat.
I went and watched that game just to see him, he made two outs in the same inning. It was really funny.
Law of equivalent exchange
You’re a monster
Glad to get rid of that dead weight /s
I can’t believe it was only 3 years ago he was with the Angels, it feels like it was before the pandemic
They also lost that series
It was all Mickey
That game alone is probably is the reason the Rockies signed him twice
Yeah he went 0-for-5 with a walk, just a total passenger while the rest of the lineup went absolutely nuclear.
That 25-1 win was the highlight of the last 10+ seasons as an Angels fan.
The combined Skaggs memorial No hitter is the highlight
Was at that game with some proper Halo Honks. Easily the best moment (or at least most emotional) as a fan since 2002 WS.
Detmers no hitter was the moment I was sure the Angels would break the playoff curse. I think that was the year they lost like 18 in a row though
I still think firing Maddon was the wrong move that season. Something had to change to end the losing streak, but it should have been the pitching coach. Instead Matt Wise got to continue his terrorism for another year.
Hard agree. Firing Maddon was dumb
Going 6-0 against dodgers last year was our world series.
Detmers no hitter/Rendon left handed homer was way better.
Really stoked to see the Rockies at least topping the charts in something.
There have been some satisfying as fuck wins against the Dodgers.
That Red Sox game was fun. I remember that day.
Was that the Raimel Tapia inside the park grand slam game
Tapia
Yep. I will never forget the dumb look on the outfielder’s face.
That outfielder was Jarren Duran and losing that ball contributed to him attempting suicide
Fuck…
Don’t worry, it’s not like Duran could see through time and your comment added to his misery
For me, the weirdest part about that HR wasn’t even Duran completely losing the ball. It’s the fact that the ball actually landed just in front of center field fence. Ball must have been carrying hard.
“he never saw it!”
It was the way there was negative effort to retrieve the ball once he saw where it was. That’s gold Jerry. Gold.
Verdugo is absolutely hauling ass from 200 feet away to get to the ball too and Duran’s just standing there 30 feet away with his hands up.
I still can’t figure out why Duran gave up there - did he think it bounced off the stands, making it a home run?
I think the perspective is misleading, Verdugo was always gonna get there before him because it dropped pretty far behind him, but it’s still not a good look.
It’s honestly kinda sad looking back at that play, because that play likely contributed to his declining mental health at the time due to his struggles and the hate he had been receiving.
Glad he’s doing better now mentally, he may not be the most likable guy, but you never wanna see someone go through the struggles he went through.
That’s got to be one of the rarest ways to score, surely?
Like a fat kid on prom night…
That Blue Jays game was no fun. I remember that day.
Fuck i have a 538 flair not a red sox flair
It’s okay. I got where you were coming from.
If I remember correctly, didn’t Sydney Sweeney throw out the first pitch of that game?
I think you’re right!
I was at citi field watching the mets with my brother for that game. Whenever I go to a game that doesn’t involve the Red Sox, I try to focus on the game in front of me, but of course you can’t help but peek the scoreboard. Every time I peeked the gap got even wider. And if you thought I missed the Duran blunder, don’t worry, they showed it on the jumbotron during a mid-inning break.
You are wrong. That game in fact was not fun. :(
You’re not looking at it correctly. Put yourself in someone else’s socks.
The most shocking part was that Gausman was our starter for that game.
We also somehow scored 11 runs in the 5th after having 2 outs and no one on. We had 27 runs with 0 outs in the 6th. Unfortunately we only got one more run the rest of the way.
Apparently someone proposed that game and the Red Sox played “love in a hopeless place” lol
Watched it live in Boston. Man was a great experience. Fans showed up, beautiful weekend in July. Honestly, even the Boston fans were great, 50% of them stayed whole game and got talking to some season tickets holders, all very friendly. 100⁄10 game as first game at Fenway.
The first time I went to Boston to see a game at Fenway I remember the Red Sox won 15-1 and I thought to myself, damn I should have come tomorrow and gotten to see a close game
The next day the score was 22-10
[deleted]
Please don’t use my whereabouts from 12 years ago to dox me
21-0 AND a CGSO by Kolek. It was awesome.
I feel nothing, it’s all scar tissues anymore.
29-9 is a football score
There’s a really funny game in Baltimore if you extend it to the last 20 seasons
I have a game used ball from the 28-5 beat down the Jays gave the Red Sox.
How many Inside the park Grand slams have there been? Crazy game
“Raimel Tapia inside the park grand slam” is a beautiful combination of words.
I scored two of these – the Jays in 2022 and the Padres last year. Best moment from either of those was the inside-the-park grand slam by Raimel Tapia over the head of an extremely confused and frustrated Jarren Duran.
What did we do to Boston…..
If it’s the game I’m thinking of, it was more like Boston did it to themselves with some of the worst fielding I’ve ever seen.
To be slightly fair to the Red Sox, they were wracked with injuries at that point, IIRC.
That’s the game Tapia hit an inside the park grand slam.
That was a glorious game. I remember leaving when the Jays had 14 runs to pick up a pizza just down the street. They cracked 20 before I got home and scored 5 more in that same inning.
I was in Denver for last year’s Rockies game. My Uber driver went into conniptions when we told him the score
We were up 19-0 against the Rockies after 5. They held us to only 2 runs in 4 innings after that for what it’s worth, lol. IIRC after 5 innings our whole lineup had at least 2 hits each or something like that.
Let the record show that the Braves entry on this list was a come from behind win.
And all started with the 3rd base safe challenge call from the fish.
Apparently, we took that challenge personally.
I thought that final score was a legit typo when I checked later on that night
Imagine if Truist Park had fans in those stands. I bet World of Coke could hear those cheers!
Duvall with three jacks, he almost had a home-run cycle, which would’ve been insane
“we scored 9 runs! must’ve been an easy wi-”
Imagine you’re the Marlins and you have half a crystal ball to see that you’re going to score 9 runs the next game. You’d be feeling pretty good about your chances, only to end up losing by 20.
Imagine scoring 9 runs and taking the 10th biggest ass whooping of a decade
That Jays game was so fun. Raimel Tapia hitting an inside the park grand slam because Jarren Duran lost the ball and made zero effort to go get it was golden.
Ahhh yes the Ramiel Tapia inside the park grand slam game
Was at that Dodgers one in 2021. Seeing Pujols in Dodger colors was such a trip
Pujols cracking a homer off of Josh Reddick was the cherry on top of that perfect day
That was a bright spot in a bad season lol
I thought that was the one without a home run, but Rivas hit one.
Hendricks was on track to pitch a CGSO, getting run support on the one day he didn’t need it.
Yeah but how many included a cgso from the winning team?
I remember finishing up a beer league game, coming out to the lobby of the arena and seeing the jays at 27 runs being like what the fuck is this?!
Hey remember when Cleveland won 22 games in a row in 2017?
I remember.
That’s is all. Lol
Angels number 1 at something, not awful?
27 of those 28 Blue Jay runs came before the end of the fifth inning.
25
They had two innings without any runs. So did Braves in their win against Marlins. Both teams had a chance to top Rangers’ tally.
29-9 is still a wild score. An eternal scorigami.
Austin Wynns with 6 hits in the 9-hole will always be my favorite random Reds trivia stat
29-9. But we scored nine runs!?!?
Ah yes, the 2025 offensive powerhouse Cincinnati Reds.
I was at the Tor-Bos game. Inside the park grand slam.
I would normally feel bad about running up a score that high, but as a Toronto sports fan I’ve been terrorized by Boston far too many times so that time it was fine.
I remember tuning in to the Jays game when the score was 27 and was so disappointed that they didn’t break 30
Imagine scoring 9 runs and still losing by 20, that’s insane
I just watched highlights of that Braves game. Adam Duvall hit a grand slam, 3-run homer and 2-run homer in the game. I think that game pretty much ended Jordan Yamamoto’s career as he gave up 13 runs.
Ayy I was at the Blue Jays vs Red Sox game, was crazy…
The 29-9 game is I believe the only MLB scorigami this century
And it almost had the first home run cycle in the Majors. (Duvall just needed the Solo shot)
The Mets appearing on both sides in the same season is certainly something.
21-0 is wild. Mfs playing MLB the show on Casual.
Mariners making the list. Let’s go.
mom, what were the 2019 astros like?
Of course The Rockies are on there losing in…twice. You too Baltimore.
Whew
Proud to say I was at that Mets game 1 double header. Got very drunk and it became a circus to watch. Scott Kingery on the mound
i was at the rockies angels game lol
lol remember when the Rockies fired their manager the day after that 21-0 loss
I have a copy of Ben Ingram’s box score from that ATL/MIA game. It’s kinda nuts to look at.
Freddie Freeman finished that season with 53 RBI. More than 10% of them (6) came in that one game.
That Red Sox game was memorable
Right after this game, Rockies’ Mike Moustakas was traded to the Angels and they lose the series to the Rockies
Two of these are from the Astros in 2019 🤔 that’s conspicuous
Pain
Lord Dinger is not pleased, we must repent.
Almost felt bad during that 21 - 0 game last year considering how tough the Rockies have been against the Padres. Still feel like I need to repent so Lord Dinger doesn’t get angry.
I remember that Diamondbacks game. The doom and gloom was real.
The Angels being outscored in the series will always be amazing
” still only counts as one”
I fortunately wasn’t watching the Cubs/Pirates game live, so when I checked the box score after the game was over I just took a deep breath, laughed, and moved on with my day.
Orioles and Dinger are carrying this list
Man
“Hell yeah. My beloved Mariners aren’t on this li… fuck.”
I was at that angels Rockies game what a fucking time
Angels won that first game of the series 25-1, then lost the next two to lose the series, if I remember correctly.
Never forget 2023. Then it went downhill fast.
Ouch. Orioles on that list twice
so are the Rockies
The Cubs beat the Dodgers 16-0 last season and it’s not on the list. Baseball is fuckin’ crazy.
Now I must go back and watch that massacre again. Time for an afternoon fish fry
That reds/o’s game was gnarly.
Do not look at Shohei’s stats in the angels game….
I thought I’d remember a score that lopsided for the Padres…..
I remember that 28-5 very clearly…
I don’t like this list…
Also the Angels somehow being 1st just encapsulates so much about that franchise…well, it was over the Rockies though…
Mmmmm I don’t like this graphic at all
So are the Rockies good
Not seeing the Twins on either side feels like a win
I have fond memories of that 28-5 game. Felt like everything that could happen did happen in it
