Jonathan Kuminga in the win: 19⁄4 with 2 steals on 7⁄12 FG
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/gameId/401869387
19 points
4 rebounds
1 assist
2 steals, 7⁄12 FG, 1⁄4 3PT, 4⁄6 FT
The agenda posting after every good or bad Kuminga game is always so funny
Its so funny that Kerr fans and JK fans are constantly fighting while Hawks fans are, like, mildly happy with him as a 6th man
Which accurately describes Kuminga. On average he’s like, mildly decent at basketball. Hard to get worked up about that.
He’s good when he is locked in on defense and playing within his skillset/hitting 3’s
He is really aggravating when he plays outside of his scope
He thinks hes lebron when more accurately hes like Aaron gorden
This is borderline insulting to aaron grodon
It’s super insulting to Aaron Gordon. Aaron Gordon is lowkey one of the most impactful players in the NBA. He always goes underrated. Great, switchable defender. Can run the offense, can score volume if you need him to, can board, can box out to let Murray or Jokic lead the break, just an absolutely clinical swiss army knife. He got bullied in that 2021 playoff matchup against Draymond and he completely transformed mentally. Any team should want that guy.
The original comment isn’t a slight on Gordon though, you’re taking way too much from it. There’s nothing wrong with saying Kuminga has flashes of Gordon’s skill set but plays outside of that from time to time.
There’s no comparison to who’s better in the slightest, and Kuminga still needs a fair bit of leash, maturing, and work to get to Gordon’s level.
He’s a true pleasure to watch play and have watched developed. His arc reminds me a lot of Marion. Even though Marion was technically the third option on the SSOL Suns, he had the skills to be a top option at the time. Eventually, he accepted his place as an elite role player rather than star and excelled. Damn shame he never made an All-Defensive team
I would fucking love if kuminga became the Hawks’ Aaron Gordon
What the fuck… atrocious take man. Aaron Gordon is closer to LeBron than Kuminga is to Gordon
now this is insulting to lebron
No, it’s not. Aaron Gordon is constantly underrated because people are obsessed with counting stats. AG adapted to playing with Jokic, covering his weaknesses and enhancing his strengths. It’s a lot like Draymond and Steph, tbh.
still doesnt adress my above comment but ok. i do agree ag is udnerrated. idk if ur comparing him to 40 year old lebron or prime lebron tho. if its 40 year old lebron i agree, otherwise ur just flat our wrong
Man, y’all kids are not familiar with Prime Bron if you think AG is even close to him
if you think AG is even close to him
that’s pretty much the point. AG isn’t close to lebron. But kuminga isn’t close to AG
Smh, Kuminga is closer to AG than AG is to Prime Bron.
He’s more like Corey Maggette. He could be a 20+ ppg scorer but only on a team that’s winning 25 games.
Jonathan “Bad Porn” Kuminga
Kerr wanted him to be Shawn Marion, which he somehow took as an insult.
I think that’s pretty much the read from Warriors fans. Lots of potential, just frustrating to see him play boneheaded.
He’s a slightly taller Bennedict Mathurin
Absolutely, which is still better than regular height Benedict Mathurin!
Mathurin is a better shooter
ATL have to figure out what to do with him during the summer. Hard to gauge what to offer him, or even if they offer
the Kerr stans in shambles
you dont see Hawks fans doing “I told you so” posts about Porzingis but Kerr stans in here fighting for their lives, upset that JK had a good game lol
we not forgetting the “thank you warriors” posts
you shouldn’t, especially when Hawks went 19-6 after the trade while Warriors went 9-19 lol
no Kuminga to hold Kerr back, that losing record is solely on Kerr
sure let’s ignore all the injuries the warriors out where most of their playoff rotation was out
All of that is true but come on KP for Kuminga there’s a clear winner even if kuminga is inconsistent as fuck
KP has been really good for the Warriors and JK was sitting on the bench lol
Agreed it was a terrible trade. So it must’ve been non bball things the Dubs were upset about, so they did it anyway. They made the adamant choice to trade him, maybe Kuminga punched Chef in practice or something, who knows
Warriors fans are so fucking delusional if they think they won that trade, even their FO is not sure if they want KP back. KP can have a good game, but he is inconsistent while his bad games looks like he is not even a starting caliber center, and oh he is more injury-prone than fucking Kawhi Leonard. Meanwhile, JK is actually learning and being developed because his coach is giving him a role that fits him with fair criticisms.
Curry back, Porzingis who they traded JK for played, Horford played, Podz played, Draymond played, Melton played, Gui played, GP2 played
still lost in play-ins. no excuses for Kerr
Maybe 2 starters out for the season? 😂 Also Steph only played a few games since a long injury lmao. Kerr didn’t make him shoot 4-16. Pretending its Kerr’s fault is hilarious.
Porzingis played 15 minutes against Phoenix on a bad ankle. Curry spent the game limping around on one knee. Literally ended the season with Draymond as their only healthy starter.
gee who didn’t see that coming with an old ass roster. yet Kerr decided to run these guys into the ground instead of shouldering some of the load onto young legs and DNPing Gui and JK
curry played 4 games before that and porzingis was always on a minutes and back to back restriction talking about running them down
why do you think Curry got injured in the first place?
gee almost as if Kerr DNPed JK and got him traded for a guy with “mysterious illnesses”
Way more bummed that we gave up Rollins than I am Kuminga. Guy is getting paid 24m he should put up 19 points once in a while.
He literally has more points this postseason than Steph and Luka combined. Kerr is just a Kum hater
It ain’t never gonna stop haha
It’s only going to last so long, let’s enjoy it
I’m happy to see him play so well. Great comeback by ATL
thank you Warriors!
Lol 😂
Hey, maybe the Hawks’ll sign him to a long-term deal!
Locked up KAT annyoing ass in the 4th too
Facts, he was a huge spark on the defense in the 4th. The clutch block on Brunson late was so worth all of the silly mistakes he makes.
That’s JK for you. He’s still young, IF he can clean up his game he’ll be quite a player.
What did KAT do to you people
Got 3 thousand offensive rebounds.
Its his long ass fingers. They are unsettling
Yeah but think about how lucky Jordyn Woods is
Lavender ass relationship
The klaws, if you will
Karl Anthony “Salad-Fingers” Townes
He poisoned their water supply, burned their crops and delivered a plague unto their houses!
He just always cooks us since he’s been in the league
loads of moving screens
And after all that???
Warriors fans get in here
If we’re missing Kuminga 2-3 years from now, that probably means we’re Nets level bad. I never hated him, but he had plenty of time and opportunities to show he could be a foundational guy.
If he were terrible, he’d be out of the league by now. He’s not terrible. I think he’s an Oubre level player, which is fine. You don’t cry over a lost Oubre. You can always go get that level of performance.
Both sides shared some blame, but the game he dipped out vs OKC when the Warriors needed him to eat minutes sealed it.
I dont blame him one bit. Dnp after dnpcd and then go in and start and lead us to a victory over okc with all our nba players out. He already played that game against MN. fans still blamed him for the series loss despite everybody else playing like shit. I still dont know what sort of nba player he will be but at least he has a chance someplace else. 35 whole minutes tonight.
The commenter below summarized it well.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/0OO7I8JNZs
If a player feels like he has to walk on eggshells every time he steps on the court and gets benched for every mistake, that’s not really an opportunity.
They jerked him around towards the end when they were playing hardball with his agent and looking to move him, but mostly it’s a false narrative. He ranked 7th on the team in minutes for 2022-2023. He ranked 4th on the team in minutes for 2023-2024. He had a long leash and was given numerous chances.
If the coaching staff didn’t ultimately trust him, that’s on him. Moody, Podziemski, and Santos have earned the trust. If you can’t get on the court, that can be an indictment of you, not your coach.
10th place trust.
As someone who watched a ton of Warriors games, this was best for both sides
Kuminga just couldn’t consistently coexist with Steph, Dray and Jimmy when he was healthy
He isn’t a great defender, and provides nothing off-ball. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective but it’s hard to justify that usage when Kuminga also can’t shoot consistently and he lost his handle like all the time driving to the rim
He just didn’t fit the Warriors. Him on the Hawks is a much better fit
Any team that has a Steph Curry will play a Steph Curry based offense and he just never seemed to be comfortable playing it. Even KD and Lebron, two guys who could get buckets whenever they wanted it, looked for a pass to Steph during the Olympics because they know how strong that offense is.
That really does sum it up well. Oubre is a really good comparison it terms of level of player, which is funny cause he was also a Warrior and they won the championship after he left
Oubre finally adapted his game to play with Steph by the end of the season, and it really benefitted him with easy layups everywhere. Before that he was stifling the offense
Na I think we still haven’t seen the best Kuminga. He didn’t look comfortable playing for Kerr but tonight he was the reason the Hawks won. Oubre is decent but doesn’t have the athleticism or hustle that Kuminga is showing. He could be a problem
well said
There is a five year sample size of JK’s play. We’ve seen him do well but only for frustratingly short and sparse bursts. Not a hater but I do not miss the JK experience one bit.
im halfway to cancun but ill upvote for kuminga
He played good for us against the wolves even better than jimmy
I think the general consensus amongst fans is we need to get younger and more athletic. So we went and got KP who’s older and far less athletic 🫠
Logged in to upvote this!
We had a bad season and fans were just looking for someone to blame. Kuminga wasn’t the issue and neither was Podz. We were just old and injured and barely limped our way into 1 play-in win.
Make sure they bow to my young prince 🤴🏾
His 2 steals and 1 block tonight were such high energy plays on the defensive end. In all the plays you can just see how engaged he is to disrupt the Knicks offense.
Some nights he looks less engaged and then some nights he turns into KuminGOD. He was doing what I thought Jalen would come out and do tonight.
His block was a huge one too. Swatted the shit out of Brunson’s layup late in the 4th and hawks got another bucket on the other end. He was pretty solid all around tonight
Starting to think maybe Kerr was wrong
It comes and goes with him. Clearly high upside, but then the occasional game like the first in this series.
Dude has terrible bbiq and game sense
He made two incredibly clutch plays lol
Which is why it comes and goes.
It’s not specifically about this game in particular but how he plays.
It’s very funny when people feel too strongly about Kuminga. “He is extremely talented and extremely inconsistent.” is not rebutted by “but what about when he is playing very well?” Game 1 he was 3⁄7 in 27 minutes and put up 8/4/1. He looks like a star some of the time and a wallflower some of the time. He has insane physical skills and not very impressive BBIQ so when he’s going great, he can lock in and be a two way force and also sometimes he is spinning into traffic over and over.
There was more optimism about him early in his career (and plenty of reason for some optimism still) but he’s just not that interesting of a player. He’s like a bigger, more athletic Jordan Clarkson.
He’s just not consistent. I’d like to keep him though. I imagine consistency can come eventually
there was a string of plays where he didn’t get the defensive rebound and one of them led to turnovers
Yeah it’s obvious once you watch him on your team. Unfortunately, with the casual fans you’re gonna see overreactions on both sides of the spectrum depending on how he plays that particular game.
He had games just like this for the warriors, occasionally lol
The story of the 2021 nba draft outside of Cade lol
Difference is when he made some mistakes early, he didn’t get immediately benched while the coach threw a performative tantrum of exasperation
Tell that to Risacher lol
He’s always been an inconsistent player. Was literally mid last game
He’s 22
He’s 23 and turning 24 this year
This is his 5th season. This is just who he is.
Getting 7⁄12 out of a bench player any team will take that. I guess I should say almost any team
good luck with that
And good luck to your squad
He was, but most of the comments are here to just dunk on the Warriors lol. If Kuminga has a bad game in a loss you’ll see the exact opposite reaction, these people are just reactionary.
literally coming off injury
at least he’s contributing to playoff wins while Kerr’s “winning system” is watching from Cancun
Kerr’s system has 4 rings buddy
so does Klay yet Kerr shipped his ass off anyways
this is 2026 buddy. Kerr is in Cancun watching JK in actual playoff games
this is 2026 buddy
yes 2026 is a very long time compared to 2022 when Kerr won the ship you’re very smart for sure
exactly so why should anybody care what Kerr did in the past?
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/sarcasm
correct
He just has a sore relationship with Kerr. Like he is willing to play off the bench in hawks. In return, hawks will also reward him good minutes and a spot on closing lineup. This doesn’t happen in warriors.
He was shooting 40% from the field for a month right after he got traded. Give it some time before you start gloating.
starting to?
Kerr has been very bad for years since 2022. all went downhill after how badly Kerr handled the Poole-Draymond situation
tell us how you really feel
Steve Kerr played a dude with MULTIPLE sexual assault charges over Kuminga lmao
yet people think Kuminga didn’t have reasonable complaints
Also brought a Team USA squad to the World Cup with the intention of playing JJJ as a lone big
ummmm k.p?
Anthony Lamb
gonna need at least 10 more comments outta you
Kuminga led the Warriors in scoring on elite efficiency vs. Wolves in playoffs
got rewarded with DNPs
CJ is like player of the game and really stepped up but we don’t win this without Kuminga tonight.
Lets be real. It was the vibes of Buddy Hield
I’d pay Buddy for another contract tbh.
Steve Kerr in Cancun watching Kuminga win playoff games
b-b-bbbut Kuminga doesn’t contribute to winning basketball
He was deadass locking KAT up to lmao.
The best game he’s played for us. Without him we lose this game easily. Also played great defense.
That block was insane!
prove that bum ass kerr wrong
How does this prove kerr wrong?
Kuminga’s side: I want to be a star like Kobe. I don’t want to be a role player.
Kerr’s side: You are a role player, not a star.
What did Kuminga do well this game? He took good shots within the flow of the offense and played great defense and got rebounds. Which Kerr begged him to do for years because that is the best version of Kuminga, not the version that tries to be the first option.
Just like how Klay was very mature and willing to accept a bench role in Dallas. But bro, that is NOT how you behaved when Kerr did the same thing to you in 2024.
When did kuminga or his side mention Kobe or wanting to be a super star?
The exact quote.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1lk77cs/jonathan_kuminga_on_his_future_i_feel_like_im_at/
That’s what’s been on my mind,” Kuminga told The Athletic. “Things take time, but I feel like I’m at the point where that has to be my priority, to just be one of the guys a team relies on. Aiming to be an All-Star. Multiple times.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1kywicy/anthony_slater_kuminga_league_sources_said_still/
No, I want that narrative your trying to push about being a super star like Kobe from his team.
Wanting to be an all star and a player a team can rely on is nothing like the bullshit youre trying to spew.
From his own former teammate: https://basketnews.com/news-241044-ex-warriors-player-claims-jonathan-kuminga-sees-himself-as-a-superstar.html
In his mind, he’s a superstar. He wants to be a max contract player. He wants to be a number one or a number two option.
https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/jonathan-kuminga-trade-rumors-2/1905802/
The Warriors, in their sepia dreams, longed for Kuminga to aspire to their version of Alex Caruso or Jaden McDaniels or Ausar Thompson. An athletic, disruptive defender capable of spectacular scoring highlights. But Kuminga wants to be a star with the ball in his hands. He left The Democratic Republic of the Congo for the United States as a 14-year-old with hoop dreams. He was mesmerized by repetitive viewing of video highlights of Kobe Bryant. Similar size, similar athleticism and … visualization took it from there.
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6443584/2025/06/25/jonathan-kuminga-warriors-nba-future/
Kuminga has long held a dream of evolving into a star wing capable of driving an offense and leading a team.
I mean this is all available on the internet dude. Maybe you weren’t able to get past the Athletic paywall and that’s why you think this is all bullshit and not reality?
I’ll give some advice, if you’re using Safari you can click reader mode or paste the article link in archive.ph and that removes the paywall. And if you type the same question you asked me on Google, the first thing you’ll see is an AI overview which gives a very detailed answer. Hope that helps.
Also, why are you so fixated on quotes? You know the saying “actions speak louder than words”? You don’t need quotes to see that Kuminga often practiced Kobe postups and fadeaways and tried to do them in games while the greatest shooter ever was wide open in the corner.
Damn i spoon-fed you the answer and even gave you some helpful advice and you still blocked me lol
None of these are him or his side saying he wants to be Kobe, which is what you were pushing.
He still worse than porzingis 😆
He is still gonna play twice the games porzingis does
Maybe even 3x
(x4)
Kuminga on Warriors/Hawks even has a better 3P% than Porzingis on Warriors lmao
Porzingis is a theoretical player
Schrodingizs Porzingis
Porzingis hardly plays.
Hawks about to pay him 30mil
I don’t know about all that now
he has a team option they can accept before they doing anything silly
thanks, steve kerr
He saw Suni Lee courtside. “Tryna hit!”
Kerr was wrong maybe
Whatever happened behind the scenes is going to be interesting when it comes out, there’s no way Kuminga wasn’t playing because of anything remotely related to Basketball skills
I mean he definitely struggles with BBIQ. He misses his fair share of passes and occasionally uses the whole shot clock by himself. Hopefully it gets better with time because he’s great when he’s locked in
He has a lot to improve for sure, but he was getting DNP - CD’s in games where the warriors were trotting out non-starter lineups and end of bench level guys
Exactly, he has the tools to be a good defender and a lob threat while still keeping his scoring skills. He just needs to be developed, and he also need to mature into realizing he won’t be a number 1⁄2 option but rather a star in his role like AG. And for both of those to happen he needs playing time, and a coaching staff that will let him make mistake but will fairly criticize him.
it’s already been reported he faked an injury to intentionally sit out against OKC when butler got hurt
Oh sure, but when Draymond deliberately gets ejected in the first minute of a game Steph is sitting out that’s okay? /s
You just ignoring how ass he was for the 15 games after getting traded?
Every time this take pops up it’s clear the person did not watch a lot of Warriors games. JK will play 2 good games then 10 bad ones. He was an extremely poor fit who regularly chose to brick turnaround middies instead of pass to a cutting Steph Curry. There is no conspiracy lol
Legit won the game with his energy
Kept them in the game, he was great
Kerr’s 9⁄11
Kuminga loyalists’ 12⁄25
He showed a lot of the defensive promise I’ve always thought he could have with his athleticism. Definitely impressed.
Just caught the 4th quarter but he was looking good on D too
Turning up the defensive intensity. Still inconsistent on offense but the potential is clearly there
People were trying to shit talk this man as if he wasn’t by far the best play off our bench tonight.
Hope all those clowns from the match thread that were overreacting to 1 turnover can behave now
steve kerr when a young player with talent exists but he instead just wants more screeners for curry
And you guys were trashing him weeks ago
THANK YOU STEVE KERR!!
Real Kuminga experience this game but he showed up when it mattered most in the 4th
Clamped KAT as well
Yes but how did KP play?
Listed as questionable for Cancun.
Edit: Upgraded to OUT with explosive diarrhea.
Nice job, Atlanta! Keep it up!!
Bitched KAT and brunson on defense
He Kum, he saw, he conquered
Steve Kerr would never
Warriors could use someone young like him
this is stupid.
the talent was there it’s the inconsistency that was the problem
Our entire team was inconsistent.
Can yall stop with with this inconsistency argument 😂 as if everyone else on the warriors was always consistent and he was the only one who wasn’t they’re were 10th for reason.
we were 10th cause we are a top heavy team and our the players that contribute to that were all injured
our rotational guys are second rounders or former g league guys.
podz and moody are good but are at best 6-8 rotations guys on a playoff team
Golden State general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. thinks it might be easier said than done. This is what he told reporters on Tuesday about Kuminga’s trade request: “When you make a demand, there needs to be a demand.” “You’re making this about the money,” MacMahon said Tuesday on The Hoop Collective podcast. “He’s miserable. He is absolutely miserable,” he continued. “It is a bad situation. A breakup that needs to happen sooner than later,” MacMahon added. “It is a terrible situation for him. He was getting DNP-CDs in the playoffs. The coach doesn’t want him. The coach doesn’t believe in him. And the coach has publicly said over and over that he does not fit with the core of this team.”

Honestly, this organization is toxic af. They’ve proven time and time again, unless your last name is “Curry” , you can piss off.
No one should be gaslighting their young core so Steve Kerr can cosplay coach.
Curry mainly but also Draymond. The whole punching fiasco proved that. Sry i just fucking hate that dude. Dirty player and just a guy that thinks he’s intelligent because he has a lot of money from playing a sport. Dude would be making like 50k max if he wasn’t good at basketball but because he has money from physical traits he thinks he’s smart
KERR PROVEN CONCLUSIVELY TO BE THOROUGHLY INEPT BASKETBALL TERRORIST!!!
(until the next bad game Kuminga has)
Steve Kerr is falling to his knees.
The issue isn’t talent, it’s consistency.
Hes amazing still dont get Warriors not giving him minutes and try to develop him . I saw plenty of his good games on Warriors
Hard to fit non shooters around Steph/Draymond especially after the Jimmy trade. And Steve loves to jerk players around on top
This is the same guy who was getting DNPs on a team that had absolutely horrendous offense if Steph was out. I will go to the grave saying this, but Kerr is a washed coach.
Get Kummed on Steve Kerr
He won the war. Warriors lost.
Jonathan Enigma
He was good today
Max him.
