Spurs are the two seed and almost certainly about to win a series. Clock’s ticking already, he’s got 2-3 years at most before it becomes a whole “Can’t get it done” thing. Fans and media alike have no patience with this shit.

I watched a video the other day how he’s focusing mostly on flexibility. He’s ridiculously mobile for someone his size. That should help, barring any crazy injuries.

He definitely seems to take care of himself though, and at least so far hasn’t had lower body medical issues (the biggest risk for tall players).

Wouldn’t surprise me if we end up with a late career Wemby that plays much differently but is still a star. With his height and skills, he’ll still be extremely effective even if he loses some mobility.

I think he probably will end up with issues down the line, but at the same time I think his body will have more longevity than we’ve ever seen for someone his height. People are already mentioning his flexibility and mobility work, but on top of that it just seems like he’s more naturally coordinated and in-control of his body than any 7’4+ human we’ve ever seen, and on vibes (not a doctor) that makes me think he’ll hold out pretty well.

That is the biggest reason i dont think he’ll reach the GOAT potential some people put him under. Not that we should even be putting that on anyone this early in their career, it really only hurt Lebron having that preasure.

But if it isnt the general big guy injuries, the physicality of his position will also put a lot of wear on his body

I think the concept of voter fatigue is also ridiculous and should be talked about more.

If 10 years from now Wemby is still far and away the best defensive player int league, it shouldn’t matter how many times he’s won prior.

Current season performance is all that should matter, period, but that’s obviously not the reality we live in and it’s extremely ridiculous.

It honestly needs to be talked about more.

Its usually sports journalists who take themselves seriously not stephen a smith. While engagement is obv important its a little less so given where 99% of them came from.

Neither is anywhere close to their prime defensively though

They were both god-like defensive players in their primes, but those primes happened a long time ago. Old men don’t play defense so well.

I guess I should specify Hakeem was in the league with prime drob, mj, pippen, rodman, etc. Dray and Kawhi are ATGs but far past their prime and not contending for DPOY anymore
