All our rookies are entering their softmore year where most players with promise take a bit of a leap, we’re hopefully going to land a top 4 pick in a loaded draft class, and we don’t have our own pick next year so we have no incentive to tank which means we’re gonna try to win as much as possible. All that and being a big market team, there’s expectations that Marks will try to make some other moves during the offseason too on free agents or trade acquisitions. Does that mean we’re a lock for the play-in, much less the playoffs? Of course not. But I think it’s perfectly reasonable to expect a better season all around.

Houston has a swap with their pick so there’s no benefit to them being bad again next year. Probably will add enough talent in the offseason to be properly mid 

We have some of the most cap space in the league in addition to having a guaranteed top 7 pick in this loaded draft. Also I’d say abit half of our rookies looked promising and as OP said, Jordi is one of the best young coaches in the game but he’s come in at a bit of turn in the franchise. I don’t expect to be stellar right away but even if have a fraction of the turn around the Pistons did, I’d be happy.

If this team was trying this year I think they’d be close to 30 wins. Add in another year of development for 5 rookies and a high pick in this draft, I don’t think sniffing the play-in is out of the question for this squad. And that would be a nice step forward.

Most Nets fans are just ready to see what this team looks like without having the incentive to lose, so are looking forward to next year for that reason

The hope would be Marks does all he can this offseason to make sure a top 10 pick doesn’t go to Houston.

Yeah that’s some hopium for sure. Unless we draft someone who turns out to be ROTY we are tanking again. Maybe not from the start of the season but we won’t be a playoff team barring a miracle.

Ceiling at BEST is Playoffs first round exit, but that’s an absolute best option with Jordi willing us to miracle wins lol. I’d say play in is most likely.

With the current roster + our draft picks this year, ceiling is 30 games next year imo. It’s likely we’re going to be very active in free agency. Peyton Watson, John Collins, and Austin Reaves are all in play for us. We may be talking play-in or playoffs as soon as next year depending on how that goes.

For sure, but lots of NBA teams try to win in clutch time and can’t and we roast them. Opting not to try shouldn’t be a narrative reward.

Theres a big leap between over achieving with a tanking team and being a good coach on a good team. But like you’re saying both coaches have really over achieved at times when they had no business winning games. 

Like it honestly makes no sense that jordi had the nets playing well last year until they had to trade dfs and Dennis. 

We legit saw Jordi design respectable offenses around cam Johnson and Michael porter jr. yes the nets offense sucked but when those two guys were on the floor they actually were decent. 

two guys who have never had as good seasons before, and it wasn’t just raw scoring like they were efficient as well. 

I think I’ve seen enough that Jordi isn’t a bad coach, he’s shown he can really get the most out of a lot of guys like mpj and cam Johnson who aren’t all star level talents.

Yeah pretty much any mediocre vet has came in and had a career year with us. And not just raw stats also efficiency. It Tells me jordi is intelligent about designing offense and defense around what he has available. 

Idk if he can hang with the best of the best coaches but I do think he’s not bad.
