Embiid covers so much up for this team… he will remain one of the most misunderstood players ever. Without him this is what we are, even when he isnt what he was after his 12th knee surgery he still remains by far the most impactful player on the team.
Special player that will play through anything, no other player would be expected to come back for a series they are getting totaled in except him after an emergency appendectomy. Thats why we ride with him. People are so used to it they are predicting him coming back 10 days after an appendectomy. I sadly dont think that is happening this time but it still says it all. We are the wizards without him and he has done literally everything to cover up our short comings.

It’s actually nuts how sloppy this sub has been all season. We used to get live game scores at the top of the page now we’re lucky if we get scores from the day prior. Idk what’s been up with the standings either but it almost feels like they’re being entered manually instead of just pulling from some API like the rest of the Internet has been doing since 2006.
I have to imagine 90% of people visiting the threads are just checking the box score now we need 6 factors of protection just to fucking access the link.

Do you feel the same way about Jalen Brunson? Because they put up nearly identical offensive stats (if anything Maxey’s are better), but is significantly better defensively and was top 5 in stls per game. Feels like an overreaction to two bad games in a row against the Magic and Celtics. His shot has been struggling since he got injured a few weeks ago and because he has fingers on his shooting hand taped together.
I think he’s fine but he cannot be your best player, which he currently is.

The finger injury was only 3 weeks after the all star game. So a month plus left of the season. It also doesn’t help that the teams best player misses a lot of games. The team could be good with maxey as a #2 and pg as the #3

I was at the game today and I was saying the same thing. He was forcing everything, was way out of control, and doesn’t run the offense like a PG should. Maybe it’s more of a coaching issue, 76er fans would probably know better. But even if that’s the case, Maxey definitely isn’t blameless. When his shot isn’t falling or if he’s not getting a whistle, he isn’t contributing to anything
No you’re correct, he is a bad passer with bad awareness and should not be a PG but has been the starting point guard for 3 years now. The team would have been significantly better (although still lost embarrassingly in the playoffs) if they had just maxed Harden.
He would be a lethal 3rd best player, possibly the best 3rd option in the league. Insane shooting and finishing and pretty decent on defense these days. Genuinely Harden/Embiid/Maxey should have been a championship 3 if Harden wasn’t a big game shrinker and Embiid wasn’t moody and injury prone. Luckily VJ will be entering superstardom around the time that Embiid’s current contract ends. He is legit.

This is the difference between a well-coached team and a team with no system or rhythm. The Celtics have an identity, all of their players have solid fundamentals. One player doesn’t make or break them. The Sixers have an abysmal coach who doesn’t know how to do anything. Mazzulla’s defensive scheme of doubling the star and forcing role players to beat you is stellar. You need a well-rounded team and a good coach to beat them.
Mazzulla also changes that up depending on the opponent. Against a lot of teams they will allow the star to go 1on1 and ice the role players out of the game.
It’s telling how much he respects the Sixers role players by just deciding to double Maxey all the time.

You have to figure out what to do with Drummond if you’re Nick Nurse. When he hedges he’s not quick enough to recover to the rollman. When he drops he leaves too much space.
How do you figure out how to use a guy that is 10 years past his peak and was only ever even good at one thing (rebounding)? He should probably not even crack a playoff rotation at this point in his career.
