[Highlight] Jayson Tatum goes coast to coast, cuts through the Sixers defense and finishes with a powerful two-handed dunk (with a replay)
He’s looking like he never lost anything.
Honestly watching this highlight really seals it for me. He was still really hesitant about his ankle early on in his return. Here he doesn’t have a care in the world how he lands, he’s coming down flexing.
Just sauntering up and slamming it
It’s so good. Got to watch him live in Charlotte at the end of March and man, he was just carving them up.
Thank god for Brad, Joe, Brown, and Tatum’s recovery, this was supposed a retooling season we somehow look about as good as we did last year.
I’d go so far as saying we look better than last year
The Tatum crossover/hesi on a big off from the pocket of a screen has to be his signature move. He’s hit so many centers with it.
A lot of people hate his pull-up 3 but that’s the main reason he gets to that crossover move so efficiently. The big is so worried about the pull-up that a slight hesitation makes the big think pull-up and then he drives right past them.
Tatum understands the difference between a shot that’s good for his team and a shot that’s good for his individual efficiency. Opposing bigs know they can’t let him catch a rhythm on pull-ups, which warps the defense even when he’s not hitting them.
Opens up a lot of rolls for the big man too. If the big steps up to take away the pull-up and the guard fights over not knowing that the big stepped up, a quick slip by center leads to a layup/dunk or an open shot to corner off the short roll.
And even if the guard switches on to the big, with a quick slip the size difference is hard to stop an accurate pass on the roll.
Usually with a 2 hand jam. For safety.
Tore his Achilles less than a year ago btw
Still can’t believe it’s been less than a year since he tore his Achilles. He has been incredible so far.
If this was Luka it would have 2k upvotes and 400 comments already. The lack of reaction is pretty lame. This sub doesn’t like basketball.
To be fair, it would be kind of a big deal. Luka has a total seven dunks in the last three seasons.
It’s because the only polarizing thing about Tatum is that he’s not polarizing
Lmao what. Who cares about crybaby Luka fans. Real ones know Tatum is the goat.
Its just a difference in reddit fanbase size.
Posts on /r/celtics rarely break 1k.
Posts on /r/lakers regularly hit 3-4k.
100k weekly visitors vs 350k weekly visitors.
Complaining about it is like complaining that Zohran Mamdami gets more national coverage than Michelle Wu. Its just the reality of numbers. Whining about it is kind of pathetic.
Why can’t you just upvote and enjoy the highlight of our guy doing something awesome? Why do you need to seek the validation of internet strangers?
off an achilles btw
He really is The Anomaly
Remember when he missed that dunk in his first game back? Ultimately meaningless, but I’m never gonna forget that moment.
oh no hes bakkkk
