LeBron on playing with Bronny tonight: “I was on the floor with my son in a playoff game. That’s probably the craziest thing that’s ever happened to me in my career … My mom got to watch her son and her grandson during the playoffs. That’s crazy.”
LeBron himself could play with his grandson in the future. Bronny II, get ready to learn some playoff basketball.
Bronny II?𤣠You mean LeBron James III
LeBronny James
At some point one of them gotta be named Bronson
I need something more whimsical like LeBronathan.

This dude is 41!!!! Like Vince was 40 when he retired??? And he looked done. How is this dude not only playing all these minutes, but also looking like the best player on the court.
when people really want to be THE best, they will put in that maintenance work to do so. it’s very rare someone puts as much effort as Bron does.
Rare? He is the only one in history
In NBA history, sure. But this relates to nearly all parts of life, not just basketball.
Those who truly dedicate themselves to be the greatest tend to fare much longer than those who don’t.
Yeah there is just more level to work ethics. MJ prob could have a longer career if he didn’t smoke or gamble so much. Kobe worked his ass off but neglects sleep.
To stay dedicated with diets, personal chef, cryotherapy, hyperbaric chamber, that’s another level on top of what the other greats do.
LeBronās always taking those power naps. He also was blessed with a lack of major injuries thus far, unlike Kobe, who tore his achilles. Had that not happened, who knows how long he couldve played
Karmic justice for that shot chucking team cancer rapist
MJ prob could have a longer career if he didn’t smoke or gamble so much
Probably, but his knees were gone during his run with the Wizards. That was after 35887 regular season and 7474 minutes with the Bulls, combined with age-related effects from being 38⁄39 years old.
Lebron, after 61030 regular season and 12100 playoff minutes, is still taking over games, jumping, and dunking… at age 41.
Both Jordan and Lebron are physical freaks of nature, but Lebron has an unmatched level of athletic longevity and production. It’s just obscene.
Yeah it’s tough work for me to just maintain a mediocre life. I can’t imagine maintaining the lifestyle for what some of these guys are able to accomplish.
lebron’s longevity is mostly due to advancement in sports medicine more than anything else, really cant compare him to older players in that regard. you will see more guys over 40 still cooking, tom brady another example
Requires a ton of luck too. Plenty of greats wanted to go the distance and went to extreme efforts to do so but couldnāt do what Bron is doing due to injury or age. Father Time is undefeated for a reason.
Weāre talking about the human body though. You can put in the most effort possible and there are genetic limits.
I think LeBron benefits from a few things. One, obviously he is genetically superior to every player who has ever come before. Second, sports science has advanced tremendously. Third, everyone else is a bitch, dawg.
True, the other GOAT quit the sport 3 separate times
He’s the only one in history to be this good at this age, but that doesn’t mean he’s the only one who’s put as much effort into his career as he has. He’s starting from a base of being very naturally talented and with a perfect body type for the NBA, playing in a modern era with better training etc., has had good injury luck, etc., which all also factor in to his combination of historic longevity with historic efficacy.
in basketball, there are others in other sports
Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gordie Howe had a 100-point season as a 47-year-old and 41 points in his final season at 51. So not the only one.
Weāve been hearing about Bronās spend on his body for like years and his performance now is a testament to that preservation.Ā
Maybe when heās like 50 heāll do the vegan trick like CP3 and add on another 5 years. Idk. Some type of wizardry in the backĀ
LeGumeĀ
Yeah reminds me of brady, too.
Dude was out there at like 45 carrying the bucs to the playoffs and still looked like left 2⁄3 years on the table when he hung it up. If he was willing to ride the bench and be a mentor/backup type roll I could have easily seen Brady out there at 50.
Vs you compare him to someone like Rodgers last year who was 2⁄3 years younger but way more beat up and it’s not even comparable.
I’m not saying Rodgers didn’t put in any effort to keep up, but Brady put like 110% into his body and making sure he didn’t take certain hits and stuff to make sure he could still make it week in week out and had been doing so since his 30s.
Biggest difference is that Brady had the option to throw the ball away. Nature of the sport and all. He still took some hits because his O-Line was abysmal that last year and his receivers all got hurt, but LeBron is playing a contact sport on every possession (but of course, itās a very different type and more impactful type of contact when you get sacked).
*FWIW Brady is my favorite NFL player ever. I was a huge Pats fan growing up.
I legitimately want to know how long Brady could hang around the league even as backup or third option. Would be hilarious to see 56 year old Brady as the emergency QB.
George Blanda did it before the SB era (mostly)
I mean you also have to have otherworldly genetics and a lot of luck.
I doubt people like Brandon Roy, Derrick Rose, TMac, Grant Hill etc agree with your statement that being the best comes down purely to effort.
If you’re talking Vince Carter, he was actually 43 when he retired.
Thatās kinda crazy ⦠I forgot he got to that age. Imagine telling someone during prime Vinsanity that heād be the third oldest person to ever play in the NBA
Donāt tell DRose š©
Thats as hard as Vince Carterās knee cartilage is
People just say stuff
makes me more pissed off Solomon Hill dove onto his legs. Lebron STILL wouldāve been more effective than what he is now had he not done that
All my homies hate Solomon hill
Vince had such a weird career arc. Dude was washed as a star in 2009 then played as a decent role player for like 10 more years, then a few more as a fully washed guy after that.
Dude was washed as a star in 2009
He was putting up 21ppg on .437 efficiency in a grindhouse season after Jason Kidd was traded away.
His “extended role player” timeline really kicked off in the 2011-12 season at age 35. He very easily could have been waived, but it was worth keeping him on rosters for ~\(3.5 million/year (a mere 6% of the \)58M salary cap in 2012). He also took opportunities from teams which just needed a warm body on the court (Kings 2017-18 season)
Yesterday he looked locked in like a mf. Ran the show from start to finish.
He treats his body like the Swiss watch/supercar that it is.
He is a genetic freak who has been putting over a million dollars a year into his body for over 2 decades now.Ā Ā Workout plans, nutrition, equipment, all based on individualized boneĀ /muscle analysis and skeletal traits, dedicated professional trainers and medical staff, plus elbow greaseĀ
Dude naps.
Vince was 43 when he stopped.
Kevin Willis was playing at 44, but not at this level
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/willike02.html
43 minutes total lol
He stopped being a contributor to a team at age 36 honestly.
Cannot discount the fact that Luka and AR being the 1&2 also allowed him to ramp up slowly and try and get into the best shape he could be in come playoff time. Shame they canāt be out there right now.
Lebron has been putting millions into his body for years now
Luke Kennard wants a word with you
Itās hard not to think āwhat ifā Luka and AR were healthy and we had LeBron, who was literally the best player on the floor last night, as our THIRD option. It could still technically happen I guessā¦
LeGrandma is happy
LeGloria
Read this as Leg Grandma and damn sheās got some hops
It struck me the other day that if Bronny had had his first kid as young as Bron had him, Bron would actually still be in the NBA as a grandfather
He still can be
Bronnys heart spasm still worries me. I don’t want him to try to emulate his dad.
Like youāre worried his heart will explode if he busts and has a kid?
Kamala say the line
Did bronny play well
I think he only played 4 minutes: 2 fouls and 1 turnover. The good thing tho was that the lakers didnāt play worse when he was on the court for those minutes tho.
He was +3 which is probably +90 better than Iād be playing four minutes
Not me. Iād take a charge and theyād have to give Amen a flagrant 2 for murder.
Iād leave the court alive but probably because Iām too slow to even get ahead of him to take that charge.
Iām imagining myself running on a fast break and the other team already inbounding the ball before Iām even across half court yet I started running from our 3 point line.
JJ gon kill you by the time you get to the bench
I saw brook lopez do that once. He passed the ball in and started jogging up the court, they cut to a quick commercial, and when they came back he was still jogging and not even to half court š
he was invisible which ig is better than being noticeably awful
Sorta. He had one turnover which wasnt that bad and he successfully brought the ball up the floor a couple times. His handle looked okay. Could have been worse, could have been better
he successfully brought the ball up the floor a couple times
Iām dying at this comment. Bronny discussion is unlike anything Iāve ever seen before in the NBA lmao
The Rockets are hounds. Even Kennard, Smart and LaRavia had a hard time.
And the Lakers two man ball handlers are famously out
Rockets play full court defense and are high energy.
Tbf, im worried about him bringing the ball up against ball pressure
Iām worried about Smart doing the same. They literally picked his pocket late in the game that cut the lead to single digits
Given how nervous he probably was it wasnt too shabby.
Yea he was just a pivot point to swing the ball to the other side of the court. Wasnāt really driving or attacking in a way that creates pressure. Decent on defensive.Ā
I didnāt understand these points briefly when he was in, I thought he looked good, and then they subbed in Smart and Kennard who attacked and were decisive and then I realized the opportunity cost more clearly.Ā
What cost? He did exactly what he was supposed to do. Smart needed a lil rest and he played good defense. He didnt take shots everytime he touched the ball and passed to the best scorers on the court at the time (Lebron, Rui). There was a point where Bronny wanted to run a play but Bron had something different in mind so he passed it up. He played good defense. The real cost was Luke and Smart combining for 8 turnovers soon after and the Rockets came back into the game. Luckily Luke had a really great shooting night to make up for it.
No, but he played minutes in an NBA playoff game. If my son did that, I wouldnāt care if he chucked a ball off the shot clock and kicked someone in the nuts Ć la Green/CJ. Iād be geeked for the rest of my life.
<DaJuggerHobbit> That's my boy out there! <Random Spectator> Who? <DaJuggerHobbit> The nut-kicker!!! š„²
He wasn’t a huge factor but was useful defensive and was a positive 3.
He was a +3 and gave Marcus some rest so he was everything we could have hoped for. He seems a little š¤ nervous but it was his first playoff game so I get it.
It didnt hurt them.
But you could clearly see that the Rockets gameplan was attacking bronny on every play.
They put bronny in a pick and then attacked the rim whoever bronny defended.
Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt.
He actually did fine on defense and wasn’t a total liability on offense. It’s crazy for me to be defending him but it is the truth
Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit!
Yeah I thought he did well. He could definitely be called upon more if needed but Vando stole his minutes because JJ wanted a rebounder more than he wanted a another guard who can shoot and initiate the offense.
not really but he was able to give a break to a main rotation piece without the Rockets capitalizing on his inexperience.
I think he looked nervous, probably expected for now
LeBron is a good dude but I have literally always rooted against him his whole career. Lol. He’s worse than any real life super villain could be. On the court. For me.
But there are a lot more human moments like this these past couple years. Like yeah he is still a superstar but he seems more free when he talks now. I know his time is limited so even though it’s not likely to happen this year I’d love to see him get another ring. Fuck it let him, Steph, KD, dray and whoever else you want team up and go wild for one last ride.
Your heart is in the right place
This is basically how I felt about Brady.
Yep, you can only hate them for so long until you find yourself rooting for them. Hated Brady for 95% of career but actively rooted for him to win another in Tampa.
For me, that period was a sort of challenge over who was more key to the Patriots dynasty, Brady or Belichick.
I wasn’t gonna root for Brady, but I was absolutely going to root against Belichick.
nah, I actively rooted against him his entire career
and now he’s a broadcaster and I still can’t get away from him (can’t stand him as a broadcaster either)
Well said, You Stupid Asshole Fuck
This was me when he first went to MIA. I almost couldn’t enjoy NBA hoops bc of how invested I became in his losing, and how good he was LOL. Have grown to appreciate how good he is, though. 1 of 1.
has there ever been a grandfather in the nba? it’s a genuine possibility for LeBron lol

LeProud Father

LeGratitude
I mean, that is crazy as hell ngl
Obviously people will joke about it but it is sooo fucking crazy and one of lebrons craziest āstatsā or whatever you wanna call it. Like we will never see something like this again. Heās played against like 25 father-son combos too. Itās outrageous
FTL but I can’t hate this man
I have lots of respect for LeBron for the sport idk how he does it at this age. Iām a few younger than him and my joints and back are already stiff getting out of bed.
I know he spend tons of money on himself for it but other athletes can as well but you donāt see them doing. The only exemption I can think of is Brady.
Yeah, its one thing to spend all that money but we often neglect that no amount of money means anything without all the grueling effort that level of body maintenance requires.
C. Ronaldo and Messi
Constant movement. Any healthy person can easily be athletic into old age. It doesnāt even take much work
Yeah. Whenever I read comments like OP’s I am always left wondering if I’m really lucky or just, like, not atrophying because I’m active.
LeSuccession
LeLogan Roy
38 high efficiency minutes doing everything and playing with his freaking son at 41. What’s a word that means unbelievably absurd in the coolest way.
I really appreciate how he genuinely seems to be proud of his son
Most people grow and say āI want to retire my parents so they can live without worrying about work.ā Bronny like forget all that haha bron we need you
Letās see how bronny will look back at it all in like 20 years.
All the roses. Amazing father
This dude is such a great dad, itās sickeningĀ
It’s not that crazy, you made it happen
Man this actually means a lot to him considering he’s like Will Smith asking Uncle Phil that question.
LeBillionaire asshole
Lebron has a mom? Man… I always assumed he fell out of the sky through a bolt of lightning. Huh
He got mike beat there. Michael’s sons were useless on the court.
It is certainly crazy that a player like Bronny can get playoff minutes, that’s for sure.
It was for 4 minutes
Bro shaved his head now?
Doc Rivers lineup
Locked in
I thought Bronny should have had Vando’s minutes in the first half then I realized in the second half what JJ wanted Vando out there for. His job was to hustle and rebound which he kind of did better in the second half.
ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Heās right. Not the biggest Bron fan anymore buts thatās a beautiful thing anyway you look at it. Winning.
Great
Iām so tired of hearing about how grateful he is for this as if this isnāt a moment that he forced. Had Bronny made the league/got drafted at that position naturally, Iād feel Bron but how can you act like this, as if you being who you are isnāt the ONLY reason youāre able to play in the playoffs with your son? We all know Bronny wouldnāt have been taken at that spot, nor would he even still be on the lakers if Bron didnāt force it yet were supposed to act like weāre seeing some so special. Feels like scripted reality tv watching him talk about playing with Bronny.
Yeah this would have more weight if Bronny was actually good or even mid.
LeBron never understood why Ken Griffey Jr hitting a home run in the same game back to back with his dad was special.
No one cares when the bosses son at a company is given employee of the month.
Perfectly said
For real though
Lemotional

Is he gonna do it with Bryce too…

LeGenerational
Everyone can being negative about Bronny or LeBron, but this is just a wholesome moment for a family. Bigger than basketball.
LEBRON JAMES !!!!
He donāt want to win for him. He going hard because his son is literally watching and participating. LeExample
He might not be the goat but he has the goat flex forever
Oh no he is about to revive 2018 born to win his son a chip
This was dope but bronny wasnāt good in his minutes. Way too timid. Heās a solid bench guy but it might look better once guess away from his dad
mamabron must be proud as hell.
Actually insane when you think about it. Rockets are fucked
Honestly, he should be very grateful to the Lakers for that. Because Bronny is not good.
The manufactured nature of this father/son storyline is a tad bit shameful, and the fact that sports media plays along with it is asinine. We all know why and how Bronny joined the Lakers. None of it serves any purpose but to feed into LeBronās ego. To say that Bronny is a marginal NBA player is to be exceedingly kind, and weāre supposed to act like something is being accomplished here? This is just an excuse for LeBron to bask in the glory of his own longevity. If he wants to do that then fine⦠thatās his prerogative. But why must the rest of us feel compelled to participate?
