I actually feel bad for Amen. That guy played 45 min and was basically forced to guard every player on the lakers and tried hard af defending every close out, fast break, and rebound… only to lose. His knees are gonna get blown out a couple years into his career the way the rockets have him playing

He’s just a very limited player. Not particularly strong defensively, not exactly the biggest guy at his position, and offers zero spacing. He’s great at exposing 1 on 1 mismatches in the post, and is a nice passer. But a lot of his flaws aren’t things that will likely improve a whole lot. Solid player but he’s not the centerpiece of a good team that he’s portrayed as.

That’s a pretty harsh take - he had a rough night but he’s been solid most of the season. Lakers just had a good game plan for him.

He is a big part of their lack of spacing though along with Amen Thompson. Sure they can do a better job of finding role players to space the floor, but you just can’t have 2 of your top 3 guys offer zero spacing

And that is actually solid comparision. He really is like Jokić poor man version with just big difference in paint touch. Jokić elite efficiency, Sengun bad. When they played versus each other Turkey Serbia last summer, Sengun won duel, Turkey won medal, Serbia nothing. Jokić is best, Sengun is top10 Center 

Last year he had a 49% TS in the playoffs. Also how is someone going to create shots for him when he shoots 46% in the paint and 36% from mid range…. he shoots 68% from under the rim which is good.

A big reason why he has to create his own looks his because of his own inefficiencies as a shooter. He can’t be a pick and pop threat so he is forced to always roll to the rim and he doesn’t have the touch or athleticism to be super effective in that role either.

Yes Jokic creates a ton of his own offence but he is also an extremely effective pick and pop/roll man because of his shooting and touch.
