Nikola Jokic shot one free throw today.
Do you think Jokic was officiated well today? It is surprising to me someone who plays physically in the paint that much didn’t get free throws.
Why do people try and evaluate free throws with the box score? Watch the game and tell me what you think
Watch the game? Why would i do that?
Bald ass Silver told us to watch 10 second clips. 🤣
Wait, his ass is bald too?
If I spend two hours watching the games where will I find the time for all the shitposting and complaining I have to do about the games???
Checkmate, ball-knowers.
Wait you can watch these games?
It’s really more of a highlight league
I was out to a late lunch at a major chain and asked them to put the game on and they said they can’t show prime games there. I would have gladly stayed until halftime and spent more money, but I quickly finished up and took off.
There was a great clip last week with Mike Breen calling the season finale and being was very vocal about how terrible this deal is for fans.
In the second half there were two clear instances where he should’ve got a call and didn’t. As for the first, he didn’t shoot the ball much.
Cause this sub of full of idiots lol
I’m not gonna complain when we have 30+ FT
For a while in the 3rd Murray had more FTs than the Wolves….. I don’t think Jokic only getting 1 was an issue.
I mean thins is typical case of both being true. Nicola shouldn’t have had 14ft, but more then 1, especially since the one he got was also imo not a foul
Fair but Joker is never officiated properly. Could average 40 with correct calls.
Your comment and your flair confuse me
There are many Thunder fans who are objective. Must be dozens of us, I swear!
Joker and Shai are the two best players in the league. I’m happy to enjoy good basketball and not fight about bullshit. Love watching these guys
Well Murray got his free throws so it balances out
It seemed fair enough. He didn’t really post up or drive into bodies much.
Yeah it was honestly driving me nuts how little he drove in the first half especially. I think the officiating was overall fair, refs let a lot of physicality go on both ends but called almost everything that was clearly a foul. Murray got all of the teams FTs lol.
Part of the game plan to get Rudy in no mans land. For all the shit he gets he’s still a defensive factor in the lane. If Jokic is driving/posting up, then there’s no room to operate for his teammates. Since he’s a deep threat, just keep him in high pick n pops.
Yup Rudy was a menace. He only had one foul for most of the game (all?) in large part because his presence drove the ball away from him. It’s just that the rest of the Wolves defense couldn’t keep up and let the Nuggets get a bunch of wide open shots
Yeah vs gobert he dishes from the perimeter, its vs randle where he goes to town
Same. I feel like Jokic could have gone to work more often. They were playing him initially tight on the high post/top of the arc catches, so a catch and quick drive or spin and drive seemed available.
It all worked out, but I think Jokic playing more physical and aggressive on offense would make the offense even more potent.
I gotta give credit to Rudy tbh. He did an excellent defensive job on Jokic for a lot of the possessions they matched up, especially in the first half had him on the streets of Romania with those steals. Jokic absolutely cooked Randle like I expected but Rudy stepped up in a way he didn’t show he was able to in the regular season, impressive stuff.
Rudy was also great offensively.
? He drove countless times lol
into bodies?
Yes 😭
What game were you watching lol
There’s literally been highlights posted of Jokic driving in this subreddit
I watched the game and never really got whiny about missed calls and I’m a massive Jokic dickrider so I guess you’re just wrong.
It’s ok to dial back the honesty a touch lmao
I’m incapable unfortunately.
When did I get whiny? Literally just asked a question.
It is very atypical for someone who plays 40 minutes, shoots 19 times, and lives in the paint to get one free throw. Hence the question
I never said you got whiny. Try reading. I’m saying I didn’t get whiny about missed calls.
So because you didn’t get whiny it makes you the end all be all? Dumb ass
lmao what’s wrong with you people?
Someone is engaging me on the topic. I watched the whole game and being a Jokic dickrider, I am prone to getting whiny when I see missed foul calls. Are you new to human interaction? Do you expect every statement every human makes to be followed by “but that’s just my opinion and I could very well be mistaken”?
Goddamn I’ve been on a few different posts today and someone keeps coming in hot like that. Wtf man, you’re reply was normal lol
Anecdotal bullshit
Made sense given what happened in the game, he should’ve maybe shot 3-4 max
33-19 FT differential… Why bitch and moan?
You asking this question is closer to bitching than anything op said lmfao
If he’s “bitching and moaning” then you’re being an absolute dick
when did I “bitch and moan?” Legit just asked a question
Rudy mostly played him great. Really, there were more missed calls on other Wolves, who were fouling out of control.
“Its not about how many free throws, its about how he gets them.”
Someone’s gotta get this trademarked and start rolling out merch
Honestly OP, did you really watch the game?
Yes the whole game
So surely you must remember some egregious missed calls? No one seems to agree with you, even us Denver fans. So I think you might need to get specific about which plays otherwise what are we doing here?
To begin with - when Jokic got his nose bloodied and there was no call in the 1st qtr… His skin was red from the beating all over by the halftime. Even on his face.
Was that on a shot?
Does it matter? Every foul above shoulders gets reviewed for flagrant, and this one wasn’t even called.
I’m asking. I guess that’s a no. Any other obvious ones?
and murray shot 16, it evens out
Eh he wasn’t really shooting in the paint much
Nuggets fan here, Jokic was extremely passive today, thus the low amount of FTs
He wasn’t aggressive it really wasn’t the refs they called everything they could see and more today lol
how many did jamal murray shoot
How many times did they foul him?
4 times
3 times or so
I hated the officiating today. Felt like it was very ticky-tack for three quarters with way too many stoppages and then in the fourth they just stopped calling fouls, except what was obvious, I’m just thinking like pick a lame yo wtf.
Murray had his career high FTA too. Was a weirdly reffed game
He’s gotten close - 4 regular season games of 15 FTA
I’ve seen so many of these “x only got y free throws. Is this fair?”
Jamal made up for his missed quota
Doesn’t matter
There was a Huge FT advantage for the Nuggets
As expected
Finch just accused him of getting bogus calls for “initiating contact and spinning away”. But he only shot 1 free throw?
I also thought he was fouled at least twice in the second half
Murray got free throws because he slipped on the court
Jamal Murray had 15 through 2 and a half quarters
As I’ve come to expect, I think the refs allowed quite a bit of extra physicality on Jokic, mostly non-shooting stuff though, so I don’t think it would have changed his FT totals too much.
But there was a lot of weird refereeing overall both ways. For whatever was missed on Jokic, we probably got one back somewhere else.
Extremely well. Probably in the top 10 best officiated moments in the 10,000+ years of the history of sports existence
I think he was aggressively non-aggressive looking for his shot that entire first half which plays a major part but he’ll surely get a better whistle in future games provided he’s more intent on scoring
Several times I started to get upset about something, but then remembered it’s the playoffs. The Wolves are playing extremely physical. The Nuggets need to match it.
Y’all had an insanely good whistle this game
Is that what the neutral fans are thinking? I saw a lot of questionable calls on AG and Jokic early, plus them allowing the Wolves a lot of physical play on boxing out (it’s the playoffs tho, so fair). It just looked to me the Wolves were playing a lot more physical.
He didn’t really try to drive and challenge Gobert. I think that’s fine
Jamal Murray took his free throws but it is remarkable Murray missed 8 3s and shot 16 free throws still
He almost exclusively played on the perimeter this game.
Jokic is the MVP he doesn’t need to be a free throw merchant to control the game. Easy triple double today.
He’s a freak of nature, why not show off his athleticism.
Jokic wasn’t trying to be super aggressive, so while I think there some missed calls, I don’t think it was too many and I prefer the refs allowing physicality. I felt like they balanced it pretty well in this game
And Murray shot 16. Jokic probably shoulda had more while Murray should’ve had less probably, but refs just see Minnesota playing very physical, figure they’ve probably fouled about 15 times and then assign fts on vibes.
OHHHHHH BROTHERRRRR
You say you watched the game, but you obviously didn’t pay attention. The Nuggets game plan was to have Jokic play on the perimeter to negate Goberts presence in the lane. And it worked.
Also the Nuggets zone defense in the 3rd quarter compltely shut down the wolves offense, or whatever the fuck you call Ant dribbling around for 18 seconds with every lane cut off from the zoneand shooting a contested shot. Nobody on the wolves was cutting or moving without the ball, infuriating to watch.
Shoutout to Adelman and the nuggets coaching. Also, for how much D Wade and Candace Parker know about basketball they never once mentioned either of these things.
Right now I’m watching the Knicks game and SVG is pointing shit like this out left and right.
I was at work so I can’t say, but Jokic’s style of play leans very heavily towards not getting a lot of fouls. He’s a very skilled shooter that doesn’t rely on a bunch of contact, he runs their offense so he’s often looking to score and it’s not usually with a lot of movement actions from him. And defensively he avoids contact a lot, plays passing lanes and goes for deflections, and rarely attempts to block shots and in general doesn’t protect the paint. And he doesn’t get out in transition defensively.
So, I tend to assume in most matchups he’s officiated reasonably considering refs tend to allow more contact for bigs in the first place.
I thought in the 1st quarter Jokic deferred a lot after being hit in the nose. He took open shots decisively when needed but he wasn’t attacking the rim.
I also thought the officiating was terrible in the 1st. I don’t like the foot against foot foul, the shooter jumped into the defender after pushing him off. Aaron Gordon’s offensive foul wasn’t really much contact, Conley flopped. Some of the touch fouls were ticky tack and The Wolves had to give up a technical foul just to get a challenge on the “missed dunk” attempt that was an obvious foul on Joker.
All in all the optics seem to be that, once again the refs collectively decide how tight or loose to call the game, since they all seem to be on the same page on any given game day. I consider this a contamination of the sport and more in line with gambling sites than competition.
Didnt really see any missed calls where he should have got free throws personally
There were a lot around the rim if you slow it down he got hit and was looking for a call. There aren’t replays because they don’t show rim finishes that don’t result in a foul most of the time unless they are dunks, and he doesn’t dunk much.
Also Gobert shoved him multiple times on rebounds, at least one he got an open dunk for it too. Jokic calls today were: McDaniels two hand shoving after the play ended, naz Reid intentionally hacking, and an and 1 on Gobert. Not the greatest whistle as they go
Thunder fans think Caruso bear hugging Jokic was clean defense last year. So this checks out
What a bizarre comment lol. Was just saying I didnt see any missed calls personally, no idea why you’re bringing up Caruso
They gave all his free throws to Murray. It balanced out for Denver, but Jokic got the short end of the officiating.
When the crew chief is Marc Davis is when you see blatant point skimming in favor of Minnesota.
He had more turnovers and at least one flop. Officiating was brutal for everyone. Slowed the game up and not at all playoff like.
Never has a generation of ball fans ever been so infatuated by free throws. Mix of new Euro fans and Gen Z attention span
Nikola is just as strong and composed as prime LeBron James, He should get more but it really doesn’t matter since his greatness is displayed night in and night out
Jokic didn’t do much of his normal on-ball flopping, and Gobert played him really well. Jokic really wasn’t shooting contested shots at the rim much tonight. They were either open jump shots with a crazy high release or tip-ins.
his playoff flopping is fucking insane
Does he need to flop more? He got one free throw today so obviously not working
maybe
He learnt from Embiid the GOAT flopper
Embiid flops quite a bit, Jokic ramps up insane body movement flopping in the playoffs by 1000%. He looked like such a fucking idiot trying to draw that on Rudy in the first half on that rip through, hilarous lol
The rip through is not flopping. It’s foul baiting. There is a difference. I would think a Sixers fan would know the difference. I am disappointed in you.
no he flopped before the rip through as well, trying to get calls on the bumps… just admit your boy is a major flopper, literally every other fanbase sees it and just calls it for what it is. liberate yourself from your biases. it doesn’t make him a worse player, just like Embiid is still an amazing player as well.
I never said he doesn’t flop. Every star player does. I was just correcting you. No need to fight imaginary battles brother.
uhh wut? lmao. not fighting any battles. Jokic flops insane level in the playoffs, glad you’re on board 👍
Whatever you say bro. Looking forward to the Sixers-Celtics series. I predict the Sixers win in a 4 game sweep. Embiid comes back & dominates the Celtics like he always does in the playoffs.
that would be sweet!
worry about your boy being healthy for another playoff choke
I wish
His flopping is definitely more evident when the flop king isn’t playing much
*spelling
I do wish Embiid was out there flopping for us.
It’s more fun when he is
Overall Nuggets had good referring but there were several time where Jokic didn’t get obvious foul , or 2+1 .
One was blatant in battle for defensive rebound Gobert just pushed him infront of the ref got offensive board and scored but refs swallowed whistle .. It couldnt been more obvious but refs were “fuck it Nuggets have the lead let it go so the game gets close “
Jamal Murray gets everyone’s free throws, even his teammates. It’s crazy that we can karate chop Jokic for 48 mins, but if you breathe on Murray that whistle is so quick.
Of course on that one FT attempt (which was posted) Thunder fans victim complex was on full display.
stay on the internet bro, you are obviously spending an unhealthy amount of time online
Still upset about last night? You’ll be fine, u guys have a young team
Ah the ad hominem fallacy. Perfectly fitting that a Thunder fan proves my point.
I wasn’t there to see the behaviors you witnessed but it’s amusing to think that fans of the best team in basketball have a victim complex. Perhaps you are just a little sensitive?
Yes? Why does being a fan of the best team mean you wouldn’t have a victim complex? If anything it makes it more likely.
