Jalen Green was written off as a low IQ shot chucker, but his inconsistent play was a result of Houston’s poor offensive infrastructure. This year across 2 play in games, he averaged 36/6/3 and 3 stocks on 69% TS, playing efficiently within the Suns’ offensive system
SOURCE since i forgot it last time: https://www.espn.com/nba/game/_/gameId/401866759/warriors-suns
35.5⁄5.5/3/1/2 on 69% TS, +8.0 on/off
For several years he was dismissed as low IQ, shot chucker, streaky, tanking team merchant, etc. I was critical of him in the past as well but this year he’s been stellar now that he’s recovered from injury.
Looking at Houston’s horrific offensive struggles even with KD, it’s clear they have much deeper issues, even when accounting for the loss of FVV. Jalen Green was thrust into a first option creator role with little to no offensive infrastructure. Don’t even get me started on the team coaching/system under Silas which wrecked his development at the very beginning of his career.
Very impressive showing from Jalen Green; will be nearly impossible to maintain vs OKC’s all time perimeter defense, but I’m so excited to see him grow and mature.
