[Highlight] ESPN Cleveland host Aaron Goldhammer on LaMelo Ball: “I think this is the most annoying player to coach in all of sports.”
I’m sorry but his picture is killing me lmao
He looks like Randall from Recess
what a great show
LMAO he totally does “Miss Finster! Miss Finster!”
I can see it now. He really does.
Ahhhhhaha
Haha that’s a good comp but first thing that came to my mind was Syndrome from The Incredibles
Was that the snitch? Fuck that kid
Recently introduced my kids to this show and it holds up well.
so typical buncha hall monitor ass dudes hating on a POC with tatts like Lamelo
I mean someone could have zero idea idea what Lamelo looks like and could come to a similar conclusion from reading some of the shit he’s done both on and off the court
lol yall woulda called Curry most annoying player to coach if you saw the shots he was attempting and turnovers he was having in his early years
end of the day, Lamelo led their team to end a long playoff drought. their coach aint complaining, why are yall?
Cause he’s an idiot and injured bam
I’m not complaining, I’m calling out your dumbass claim that someone would talk negatively about Lamelo because he’s a person of color with tattoos and not because he seems like a genuine moron off the court capped with a ridiculous car accident recently and then on the court with the Bam incident.
dude’s got a face for radio
Great Value Rory McIlroy
#hammernation
Literally looks like a toddler who’s mom told him to smile with his teeth
Nepo hire btw
Like Jim Carrey’s Grinch after he thinks of a dastardly plan
Looks like a giant baby
whodatmiami-esque
Reminds me.of nick fuentes
GOLDHAMMER HAS SPOKEN!
Green Goblin loading
And Aaron Goldhammer looks like the most annoying radio host to talk about sports
Tf is up with his face, looks like he’s trying to hold in a nasty fart
Face made for radio
Face made for farts
He looks like he was in high school theater productions, and always got cast as the second most important character and is still pissed he didn’t get first.
Youre not alone with that take. Dont think many people in cleveland like him.
He looks like he’s on a billboard which states “Accident? Call Goldhammer & Associates for a free consultation”.
As a Clevelander I can honestly say I’ve never seen someone feel the need to pass along an Aaron Goldhammer quote.
I’d rather ride to work in silence. Guy is garbage.
Goldhammer is the most annoying radio guy in all of sports… actually idk Rizzo is worse. Come to think of it all of ESPN Cleveland sucks from what I remember, though I haven’t listened to them since college over a decade ago.
The guys smile is just so natural though, seems like a real trustworthy guy
It’s shit on Lamelo week (again). Everybody takin their pound of flesh (again). Losers, the lot of them
Im convinced dudes have never watched melo play
He’s not my favorite, and I think he’s a lil weird. But that’s a big claim. He’s a good player and has been helping the team a lot, so I’d hardly call him the most annoying.
Hardly anybody that has coached him or played with him has anything bad to say about LaMelo. People just like to talk because he’s very different to every other star player and they don’t understand it, but by all accounts he’s a great teammate and impacts winning in a way that, yes, can give coaches some gray hairs but also makes the team better.
“Very different to other star players” = 30 less IQ points?
Well at least you guys were smart enough to draft Wiseman, really dodged a bullet there
Gottem
Oooooh really got me there!
Haha good one.
You rushed to answer n got flamed smh
Like I give a fuck what all the 18 hornets fans think.
If lamelo was on the warriors rn you’ll be calling him a top 10 player in the league rn
Not sure I’d say that. But he can be both good and a moron.
What exactly makes him a moron?
His seemingly complete disregard for his own wellbeing and others as he runs redlights? His lack of tact when dealing with the media? Ever heard him talk in general? Nothing about Melo seems all that bright tbh and I say that as a fan of his game.
I mean not saying your wrong but the dude was dropped out of 10th grade by his dad to go play overseas
He’s hardly played for anyone people would want to hear from, what did the Lithuanians have to say about him? Or his dad’s league?
Dude, he was 16 when he was playing in Lithuania. Also, you wouldn’t want to hear from NBA players and coaches who say he’s a good player and teammate, but the opinion of his Lithuanian teammates is something you’re interested in?
What’s Steve Clifford got to say about him?
Other than he’s a great player who needs to improve (like every single young star in the league)? Are you pointing to some specific comment?
Does it matter? He’s been in the NBA for like 5 years now, if he really was a un-coachable player, he’d be long gone, no matter how good he is. Not sure why we would look at his past days when it’s evident now
Nobody said he was uncoachable, just that he’s fucking annoying to coach
Even if we replace the two, the point is the same. Annoying players do not tend to stay on a team for long
Annoying players who aren’t good, sure. Annoying players who are good absolutely do. Have you never heard of Draymond?
Yeah I have. And yeah he’s an annoying player. But I am sure he’s not annoying to coach, which was the original point
You think a guy who constantly screams at the officials and punches his teammates in practice is not annoying to coach? Jesus Christ
Maybe annoying to the officials and Jordan Poole, but I’m sure Steve Kerr is fine as long as he competes You could even make an argument that the things he does is actually make a coach’s job easier - he holds players accountable.
TIL Lithuania basketball opinion > NBA scout and coach’s opinion
Nba scouts and coaches repeatedly talked about his maturity issues. It’s the number one knock on him. And yes, the point being made is he has hardly any former coaches or players of note, because he played in Lithuania and in a fake league his dad made, and for the dogshit hornets
That was 8 years ago. Are you going to bring up things when he was 4 years old too?
And? The discussion is about former coaches and teammates, he clearly hasn’t matured at all
He was 16.
And he still acts like a 14 year old
I’m assuming you heard that from his Lithuania coach since you want to hear his opinion so bad
The fact you’re so defensive makes it seem like you also know that he acts like a 14 year old
I just find it strange you want to go back to someone’s teenage years to make a judgement on them as an adult. Why not his time in youth basketball too then? How far back should we go
This shit getting weirdly personal
Yeah point taken bro but it’s a way over the top analysis.
Ya it’s weird… Even OP saying “everyone was just waiting for an opportunity” like there isn’t a history with the whole family and LaMelo’s own actions in this weird situation of being the second time he’s swiped Bam’s leg.. So tough to tell who’s a paid PR firm from either side of an argument these days lol
Everyone’s acting like Melo is now Draymond
Geeeeeezzzzzzz
Somehow r/nba is becoming worse than Instagram comment sections.
The trip was pretty bad.
No it wasn’t. It also literally wasn’t even a trip. Bam is in the process of falling down with or without Lamelo touch.
He also did it before. To Bam. Two trips puts you in Draymond territory, yeah.
Lmfao only on r/nba. Cant make this shit up
You’re delusional
I’m almost shocked there’s people out here who think this wasn’t a trip.
How you trip someone that’s falling down?
This isn’t hard to figure out. There’s a video of him looking at Bam’s leg and grabbing it. I haven’t watched a single game of Hornets basketball in years. I watched Tuesday night. Lamelo is irritating as hell. He’s wildly talented. But the way he plays (2-16 from 3), the cheap shit he tries to pull, and his complete inability to take responsibility is just embarrassing. It’s like he stopped maturing as a human at 14.
And, he’s going to make $100M+ in his career. He’ll be able to act like a child with no repercussions for the next 60 years. Ain’t America great?
You seem fun
Not as delusional as the group of people who think Lamelo is Draymond. Lower IQ than the man himself
Notice how it’s only the little kids with Hornets flairs that are defending him?
Your whole fanbase sounds dumb as hell. LaMelo is wack and your team is lame lil bro. Enjoy Cancun.
I’m almost certainly older than you, nephew. I know, tough finding out your bull shit narratives are in fact bull shit.
Well keep the seats warm on the plane for your bum ass choke squad
Ok. Whatever.
this dude drives like a reckless idiot on the street and has tried to hurt bam twice, dude deserves the slander despite his own on ball talent
The crusade that this sub has about how someone drives is so fucking funny.
and the way hornets fans jump and try to defend his wrongdoings is so funny to me
We just don’t care about how any player drives their car lol
Nobody else does either, they just gotta stroke their superiority complex
It has nothing to do with superiority complex lol, I literally said he has great on ball talent, but he is also a dumbass. Not that hard to understand.
A lot of NBA players are dumbasses.
It’s just funny when this sub really wants to pile on a player because of a dirty play on the court, but the only thing they have is that he is shitty at driving leaving the arena.
So naturally, that becomes scandalous.
As someone who occasionally drives in downtown Charlotte, I actually do care.
His name is LaMelo. Calling him “Melo” is disrespectful to Carmelo Anthony.
LaMelo is an immature little bitch even without the dirty play on the court. He is on a trajectory of being worse than Draymond in all facets, something I never thought I would say.
Aaron Goldhammer has never played a sport in his life
He’s not a basketball fan. He has no insights. Most of his takes are college football and NFL.
And those aren’t particularly good either.
He stands on the shoulders of giants. If the giant was Kyrie.
what has Steve Nash done as a coach since?
never heard Kidd or Ty Lue complain about Kyrie
It’s funny because all the post game locker clips the Hornets post, Charles Lee looks like he’s having a blast coaching LaMelo.
Also you would think a person who has such a manly last name like Goldhammer would look less like him and more like Thor
still hilarious that he was playing in fucking country side lithuania
Ppl forget that Melo is cultured like that
Whoever told him to smile for the picture shouldn’t have
Don’t make me defend Lamelo please
Makes everyone around him better, takes all the hard shots on bad possessions so the team stays in a rhythm, has no fear of making mistakes or missing, everyone on the team loves him. Yea total nightmare
I like how this subreddit has galvanized Hornets fans into an us vs. them mentality over some pretty dumb shit.
Oh no, our star is a bad driver
i think there’s a difference between bad and reckless/potentially harmful driver. It’s a multi-thousand pound hunk of metal, it could kill someone.
that being said the bam thing is overblown and this quote is full on stupid
I’m sure NBA fans really care about the safety of other Charlotte citizens on the road.
i’ll call anyone out for driving dangerously. idgaf if he’s an nba player or not. people die from that shit.
would you be excusing it like this if it was a normal person?
Sure, call them out.
But the widespread pearl clutching outrage is hilarious.
I’m not excusing anything. Young NBA players don’t make great decisions. More at 11.
Why?
I’m not excusing anything.
you’re sure as fuck acting like it’s not a problem and that’s ridiculous to be upset about though
Because they’re mad about a dirty play and want to pile on but they don’t have much else they can use.
So pearl clutching comments.
people were mad about the driving well before the tripping incident and i saw plenty of hornets fans defending it
no reason to downplay it like you are
Sure, they were downright furious. Kick him off the tour, Doug!
downplaying it again lmao. okay have fun being disingenuous.
dude is out here putting other people’s lives in danger but it’s HILARIOUS when people get mad at him
You know the LaMelo circlejerk is getting out of control when we are posting clips of a random guy who looks like the real life Randall from Recess just saying “he seems annoying.”
And he is judging him based on ?
Vibes ?
Tbh I came here expecting him to be hating but I see what he means. Everything Melo does is either “NO NO NO NO” or “NO NO NO YES!” & you never know what you’re going to get.
Bunch of lame never done shit guys trying to get money and clout putting Melo down. He has plenty to critique and lots of growing up to do, but it gets in to the gross area when they constantly try to get headlines by talking shit. They do this shit with Ja and it’s disgusting.
We’ve reached the “unbearable virtue signaling” stage with this story
Was LaMelo wrong? Yes
Does he need to grow up? Yes
But what the fuck makes Aaron Goldhammer, who most of us have never heard of before now, the authority on how coachable LaMelo is?
cam thomas was in the nba this year
Cam isn’t annoying, he’s just gloomy and doesn’t want to get any better at the sport. Lamelo acts like a middle schooler
like lamelo, cam takes some terrible shots (albiet they both makes some) but can’t playmake at all. at least lamelo does that at a high level. not being able to hit the open man or give effort on d is annoying.
as a fan i could see why someone would think lamelo is annoying but cam is probably worse for a coach. but at least you can bench cam, you have to play lamelo.
Lamelo as a person is annoying. Cam is just a depressive narcissist, he’s not constantly acting like a 14 year old
How many times you been around Lamelo? You sure seem to know a lot about his ‘person’
right he’s talking like he coached lamelo personally. people love giving psych evals to celebs they never met
Oh, you mean exactly what you were doing?
Around a half dozen, it’s been annoying every time
[x] doubt
off the court maybe but what’s that got to with coaching? its not aau where the coach actually has to be around the players outside of games and practices
You think he flips a switch and stops being annoying just because he has practice 😂
obviously not, but i also don’t think he’s as annoying on the court as off
Looking at this guy’s picture makes me automatically discredit anything he says just because of how much of a rat he looks like lol
He’s not even the most annoying guy in his sport lmao Draymond is in the league
I know what they’re trying to do and I ain’t with it.
tbf he does look like an expert on being annoying
Who the fuck is Aaron Goldhammer and who has he coached
Lamelo plays a style of basketball that when the shots not going in, looks sloppy and reckless. But when the shots are falling he looks elite.
That’s a really high bar
Well damn sheesh
What a punchable very frustration inducing face. Thats so wild.
That photo is wild 💀💀💀
Looks like the red headed bully in Christmas Story.
This guy isn’t a basketball commentator. He’s a college sports and NFL hack. Total trash. Cleveland doesn’t have a a single guy on sports radio that knows anything about basketball. Most people listen to the Cavs podcasts for insight.
Who?
He’s Skip Bayless on local radio, folks.
Giving Aaron Goldhammer’s opinion on anything is a waste of your time and mental bandwidth.
His one goal is to be controversial and say anything that gets attention.
This is such a typical take from casuals who only watch basketball through highlights. They see a few of LaMelo’s flashy plays on TikTok and immediately assume, ‘A guy who plays like this must not give a damn about what the coaching staff says.’
But in reality, players who joined the Hornets or people like Austin Reaves have all said the same thing after talking to the staff: LaMelo is always happy and incredibly easygoing. He’s not the type to cause locker room drama or talk back to coaches.
Even this season, when he was coming off the bench or had his minutes restricted, he never complained. Charles Lee is a young coach, and having his star player be so low-maintenance actually makes his job a whole lot easier.
whoever posted this must be from cleveland and must hate aaron goldhammer. this is completely unproductive. no need for this.
Was Lamelo in the wrong? Yes
Did he grab the ankle on purpose? Looks like yes, but tbf it looks way more premeditated than it probably was if you only watch slow mo vs the lightning fast moment in real time.
Did he mean to injure Bam? This I highly highly doubt. It doesn’t fit with his pattern of behavior. He does commit frustration fouls (which is what I think happened here) and has fouled before when knocked down without a call to try to stop the play going the other way, but it’s crazy how people are trying to make him out as the worst player in the NBA because of it.
Did he deserve the fines/punishment? Yes
Did he deserve to be suspended? No, not if you want to be fair with past similar/worse acts.
Does he deserve to be piled on by everyone and this be the only thing people are talking about? I don’t think so. This insane piling on is the part that feels like a weird obsession because people already didn’t like him.
Do Hornets fans bear responsibility for what he did? lol feels like Reddit thinks so
Anyway, I know I came to r/NBA so I’ll get my downvotes. If you go to a barber…

this isn’t a new take on lamelo. Lamelo haters had been proven right for his whole career until Charlotte started balling part way through this season
I’m probably wrong but LaMelo really comes off as the epitome of what people think Gen-z behavior is.
People have been talking shit about lamello for years
Lamelo 100% plowed this guys girl
He has to be. Kid spent 90% of the game taking and bricking ill-advised threes when the rest of the offense was working. Could not defend a paper bag, main source of Miami’s scoring. He’s genuinely stupid.
And mine you I’ve watched a lot of lamelo. Hornets fans tried to push him last year so I decided to tune in. He was almost always the reason they were losing games in the 4th.
cam Thomas, Banchero, KD, jaylen green, and kat
