They used to be really boring plaque type trophies so these are an upgrade. That said this is part of them standardizing every trophy into this basic clear look, which I’m not a fan of.

He said Stockton because Stockton has the most assists in the NBA all time and then he asked the guy who has the most rebounds and the guy doesn’t answer pisses me off. It’s Wilt Chamberlain he has the most rebounds all time.
No one is ever passing the numbers of those guys in the 60s and 70s. People were so bad at shooting and the pace was so high. There are an average of about 88 rebounds per game total over the last decade. There were 125 per game in Bill’s first year, which had grown to 147 per game 3 years later in Wilt’s first year. In the 60s, there were an average of 134 rebounds available per game.
Wilt and Bill were obviously both elite rebounders, but it’s impossible to really compare them to anyone in the last 40 years in terms of pure totals.
This thread made me google it, and there are no active players even in the top 20 all time for rebounds. LeBron will probably get in there, but he’s still almost 300 shy of Dikembe (#20), and has literally only half (!!!) of Wilt’s record. Even knowing there were inflated total rebounds per game in Wilt/Bill’s era, that’s still an absurd record.
They were insane numbers for sure. I’ll also add that no 3 point line meant less long rebounds, so centers got a higher proportion of overall rebounds.

The Rookie of the Year trophy is already named for Wilt and the Finals MVP trophy is named for Russell so they’d have to use someone else for rebounds. KG? Rodman? Duncan? All of those would be great. They should have names for the awards

I agree and personally think Rodman is a top 3 rebounder of all time, but he’s obviously not as good as a player overall as KG or Duncan. So if they wanted to maximize the prestige of the award, they might go for a player with a better all-around legacy. Just my 2 cents though
