Nikola Jokic on the Nuggets having rest going into the playoffs: “To be honest, I don’t like it. I just want to play.”
Yeah the elite guys find a rhythm throughout the year and this could only make it weird to suit back up this weekend. Especially when it’s against a super physical team like the wolves.
I remember Denver’s starters rested for 3 weeks before game 1 in 2023 while Wolves played two play-in games. People were saying Denver could be ‘rusty’. They came out and crushed Minnesota, every other game in the series was competitive. Having rest is always good, especially if you are planning to go on a deep playoff run.
Do you think you were more banged up in 23 or 26?
2023 no doubt. All rotation had to play high stakes games during the last week - game 82 vs Pelicans, play-in vs Lakers, play-in vs OKC. Naz was hurt, Jaden hurt himself, KAT just came back from an injury that kept him out for 52 games. We had to start NAW (who ended up being solid that playoffs, but he was a bench guy in Utah), I think Taurean Prince started in one game, and Austin Rivers played real minutes (he got zero offers after the season and retired). Now we only have Ant and Jaden coming after injuries, but perhaps more extended rest was even better for them than playing in high intensity games.
Alright, looking forward to this series. We got a nice thing brewing in the jok-ant era. Worst of luck (except health)!
The Wolves vs Nuggets rivalry is my favorite.
My opinion is very biased.
It’s a nice hanging in the balance one at the moment. A big portion of Nugs fanbase wanted Houston because they think they’ll be easier, I wanted logdogs for the drama.
I do remember that I was one of the people saying Denver might be rusty
and Jokic doesn’t really look like someone who wants breaks either, he just plays better when he’s in it
Tbf Jokic missed more games than he ever has and has more than once commented on itching to be back to play when he was injured. I bet Jamal Murray and Bruce Brown are happy to rest a little lol
Dang you beat me here
No one to blame but yourselves, you could’ve tanked for the play-ins to play right now /s
Would have been better to lose that last game. Now whoever is going to win that 2nd round bruising matchup against the Spurs. Will face a well rested OKC team looking to pick off whatever weary and tired foe is left #AFeastForCrows
players even hate how long halftime is
Makes sense. That’s a long time to get cold and then have to go back to full intensity
Its a big momentum break. If you are up you don’t want them to get a big timeout basically
PTSD all star halftime
Well I hate how long the commercials are. I’m basically them, maybe better
Contrary to popular belief, stars want to play basketball.
But I thought Jokic wanted to be with his horses /s
He just wants to get this shit over with so he can get back to them sooner
Me too, Jokic. Me too.
Me too, u/Gold_Athlete_4770. Me too.
Me too, Sadman, me too
Aka “job is not done, we can’t go home”
That’s the most Jokic answer possible. No drama, no grand strategy talk, just give me the ball and let me hoop.
90 game regular season incoming
Silver: “Say no more”
Love the drive Jokic but let’s get our boy Watson some rehab time
In before some ding dong mentions his love of horses
There’s a first time for everything!
A whole 28 minutes before, lol.
I don’t know how the fans of other teams aren’t scared to face this guy come playoff time.
The difference between the NHL and NBA playoffs is pretty crazy. The Nuggets are going in with 6 days of rest. The Avalanche just played a back to back, play their last game on Thursday and their 1st playoff game is Sunday. Plus there’s disparity on travel days off too.
How do the playoffs work in the NHL? Is it a series like the NBA? Single elimination? Something else?
Best of 7 like the NBA but it’s more condensed. Less time off between series etc.
In large part because the NHL took 2 weeks off for the Olympics in the middle of their schedule. Also in other, non-olympic years the NHL has sometimes given each team an entire week off at sompoint throughout the season. So they have other reasons to condense their schedule. NBA will never have to deal with the olympics occurring during the season, that’s for sure
I like Joker, doesn’t do the pre rehearsed spiel. Good interviews.
Quicker he plays the quicker he gets back to his horses
He has always preferred a constant clip of games, and not rest.
The GOAT and his horses
its more practice and more work. he’s made it clear that basketball is a job for him
lol this dude just wants to get this over with and see his horses 🤣
The sooner they play the sooner he can go home to his babies.
The horse guy wants to play basketball? Now I’ve heard everything.
As a r/nba fan, this further invalidates the 2020 Lakers championship. Rest is bad because our favorite player said so, and thus the Lakers should be relegated to the Z-League. I’m starting a petition, and if it gets 69,420 signatures, we will finally be rid of the Fakers
Why don’t y’all know how to cut clips? Why include any part of the following question that we won’t see the answer to?
It’s honestly confusing how bad some people are at something so basic.
He just wants to get back to his horses
Bro ain’t winning shit
Why?
