I am pretty biased since we have Bango, but I think it is definitely more than that for most. Bango is around the city all year doing multiple events, even in the hot summers and cold winters. Plus during games, it’s no small feat staying in shape and working your ass off during the game.
Considering there’s a quarter billion in player contracts on the floor at any time, team’s can afford to pay their mascot 6 figures minimum.
The last guy who did Benny the Bull for about 15 years had an interview I saw once. It’s basically a full time year round job - especially during the season. Not to mention all the stunt and athletic work involved and physical fitness required. It is skilled labor and entertainment that not just anyone can do. I’m not sure why I see comments on this thread acting like it isn’t - not you of course.
