He’s just a winning player and stats don’t tell the whole story. Guys like him, Derrick White, Caruso all make an impact on the game and contribute heavily to winning even on nights where they don’t shoot the ball well.

Exactly. He also missed the playoffs multiple times on the pelicans. Jrue was a great 3rd/4th guy but definitely not a second option. Even on the bucks as a 3rd option his efficiency was atrocious in the 3 playoff runs there (TS of 47.6)

He was 31 years old when he was a 3rd option on that Bucks team that won a ring in 2021. It’s reasonable to say that a prime Holiday could have been a 2nd option for a contender.

He averaged around 20 PPG as the 2nd option on the Pelicans from 2017-2019 with AD as the first option, and they even won a playoff series in a tough West with a mediocre roster outside of those two.

I don’t think it’s defense that’s underrated about his game. It’s offensive. Legitimately one of the highest iq players out there. And he is a good playmaker, scorer and shooter. Literally he can do everything your team needs. He just sometimes a bit too passive and too unselfish but he always was like this. There is a reason him and Mike Conley dominate teammate of the year and best sportsmanship awards. Rare actual role models both on and off the court. Nothing but respect to those two guys.
