NBA delays awards voting as Luka Dončić’s Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge goes to arbitration
Per Marc Stein, the NBA is holding off on sending ballots to award voters until Dončić’s eligibility appeal is resolved. Ballots were supposed to go out April 13.
Luka finished at 64 games after a hamstring strain ended his season. His agent Bill Duffy is filing an Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge under the CBA, arguing the two games Luka missed to fly to Slovenia for the birth of his daughter shouldn’t count against him. If excluded, he clears 65.
The challenge could only be filed on the final day of the regular season (April 12). A hearing with an independent arbitrator must happen within two days, and a ruling comes one day after that — so a decision should come any day now.
