Well. I expect him to perform well.

It’ll be very interesting. On one hand while I think it’s overblown, he has had moments of stamina issues compounded by how hard he plays on every possession, and his biggest weakness has generally been teams increasing their physicality with him, both of which ramp up in the playoffs.

On the other hand his aggression, decision making and shot selection all seem to get significantly better in big games against rival teams or direct peers, so I think having the mentality of a playoff riser which is something that’s pivotal in star players trying to make deep runs isn’t even a question

I expect him to play some basketball. He will have wins and losses.

I’m much more worried about the rest of the team than him. The great thing about Wemby is that his defense will always impact the game. He will probably have varying degrees of offensive output, but the dude is gonna be affecting the paint.

I think Wemby will have some bumps on offense when teams scheme to take advantage of his flaws. The big difference in the playoffs isn’t the whistle, it is a scouting department locking in on you across a 7 game series and teams practicing to punish your flaws.

His defense will be basically fine because his length and speed allows him to recover from almost every mistake he might make.

Bold (but serious) prediction that I’m pulling out of my ass: Wemby is going to dominate these playoffs but the Spurs will lose in 6 to the Thunder in the WCF. Then the Spurs will make 4 of the next 5 Finals, winning all of them

I think he might need a bit of time in game 1 to adjust to the physicality, but I think he’ll be dominant as always.

Generational defense with elite offense. Should cement himself as a top 4 player in the league.

I wanna see if his conditioning can hold up. He was on a minutes restriction for most of the season and was admittedly exhausted after playing 22 minutes in a b2b. The playoffs are a different beast.

I think he’s going to dominate Round 1, that much I am sure of.

I’m not worried.

He’ll struggle in some match-ups, and thrive in others.

Well coached, insane work ethic and psychopathic mindset with one-of-one gifts means he should figure it out sooner than later.

If it’s not this year, it’ll probably be the next at the latest.

Great IQ, learns fast, and is competitive. Wants to be great.

Add one of the best organizations in sport history, about 19 Rings hanging around in the building, a good young high-energy squad with great vibes that can get buckets from anywhere anytime, and it’ll become harder to stop them.

Bottom line: even when he struggles offensively some nights, he’ll always be the best defender on the floor.

In terms of pressure, well:

For an international player, you can’t really get more pressure than a One-Off, Olympic Final, against the Avengers, in front of your entire country, at 20 years old.

That’s only 40 minutes to make an impact, not 7 games.

And it’s one game every 4 years, if you even make it to the finals (which is far from a given if you’re not from the US).

He scored the most from either team that game.
He should be fine with pressure.

Wemby is so ready for this moment. I expect brilliance because he has it in him and wants to win. This is gonna be must watch TV for me

I don’t think he looks like the sort to have jitters. I don’t expect him to play badly; other than maybe your usual playoffs dips.

He will be the best overall player in the playoffs, that is my genuine expectation.

He will do well but the team as a whole is so inexperienced. I’d be absolutely shocked if they made the finals or won it all. And if he did get his first ring so early he’d be on an insane career path.

Expectation is 2nd round / WCF exit

Wemby is so competitive and smart that I think he might get too hyped up or overthink in his first couple Playoff games.

His tenacity reminds me a lot of Kevin Garnett, with lesser scowling and trash talking from Wemby.

It may be his first NBA playoffs but it’s not his first time in a post season environment. Every European player is seasoned before they enter the league.

I think we’re going to see him with no minutes restriction, and a different level of hunger than previous. I don’t think he’ll lead them to a ring *this* year, and that’s more on just the whole team being relatively young and inexperienced in these moments, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes the WCF or pushes the semis to 7.

Quadruple double

He will be good and ready to deliver his best in the playoffs series.

As a Phoenix Suns fan I expect that he will face a crushing first round exit that will prove to be the necessary hardship he needs to face before making his true ascension to goat.

Defense is the easier thing to keep consistent. If you’re nervous you can still control your body movement, but you can’t control your fine tuned movements list shooting as well. I expect Spurs to steam roll a lot of teams.

He’s too damn tall so the lights will be extra bright for him

It’s Reddit here. It’s gonna be “GOAT” if he performs well and “FRAUD” if he performs badly.

I expect him to play with the same intensity as always. Wemby can turn up the heat when he’s facing a good rival team.

It’s gonna be hard for the first few games because playoff are incredibly physical. But I don’t think there’s gonna be an issue.

Good defense bad offense

He’s got Euroleague, Olympics, and (all jokes aside) the in season tournament. He seems to play even better against his contemporaries like SGA, Chet, Flagg. I can’t imagine him underperform.

Expect to see some ups and downs.

I’ll be shocked if it isn’t a Spurs/Thunder WCF. That’s the minimum expectation imo.

I think he performs either at or above his regular season level and the spurs easily take the first round. I think they collapse against the nuggets but Wemby still looks like a god. He’s got high level experience coming into this, most of the team unfortunately doesn’t.

I think this is when Wemby gets a solid “best player in the world?” Train going

Nuggets home court advantage with the elevation is real. I expect he’ll struggle in those games more than we anticipate, as he’s displayed conditioning issues before, but apart from that, I don’t see why we cant’t get the ²⁸⁄₁₀ with 3 blocks and all-world defence. we’re used to in high leverage situations frpm Vic thus far in his career.

Hell get a quadruple double in the playoffs because teams will have no choice but to actually go at him.

Spurs made a big mistake losing to the nuggets this week. If they see the nugs in the second round i think it could get ugly

Won’t get past the Nuggets

every time he has been out of the game the last 3 months he has been back in the tunnel on the bike. This is conditioning his body to play extended minutes in the playoffs. He is ready.

If he beats either OKC or Denver I’ll be surprised. Good thing about Denver for Wemby that he’s so tall, he’s already used to the high altitude.

He’ll do well. This is not more pressure than the gold medal game with the weight of France on his shoulders and he kept that game competitive with the insane skill gap between teams.

People always talk about teams scheming for him but fail to mention that the Spurs will get to scheme for them as well. Once Castle and Wemby realize how much they can get away with on defense, its gonna be rough times for opponents.

I think he’s going to have some good games where everyone will see him as the second coming of Christ, and some mid games where everyone will call him overrated and incapable to adjust to playoff level

I feel like he needs to be careful of injury in this postseason.

More minutes, players playing more physically, refs allowing more contact and Wemby probably feeling like he must push himself for his first playoffs, feels like a recipe for some injury disaster.

Second round exit

Genuinely, anything less than losing a game 7 to the Nuggets would be a disappointment to me. Assuming all healthy, I expect them to be in the conf finals.

He doesn’t have much pressure, he trained with monks, he’s rested, I expect the WORLD from him. He needs to show what he’s been preaching. That said, he’s in a good position cause how stacked the spurs are

Wemby is good but no where near a Lebron level talent who is pretty much like a human athlete robot made from lab. He is not a Shaq either whose dominance in the paint was simply just out of this world, ridiculous, absurd and nonsense.

How much really sets Wemby apart from the likes of SGA/Tatum/Jokic in today’s basketball, I honestly don’t see that much difference.

Embiid has never made it  past the first round despite being far more talented than Wemby in the regular season, so I don’t have high expectations… he’ll struggle
