Jrue was never a primary ballhandler. Celtics tend to always run ballhandler by committee, but last year Tatum was at the top and White right behind him in 2nd. Jrue was actually a distant 5th.

This year it was White, PP, and Brown all pretty equal splits as ballhandlers. (And Tatum when he came back)

White’s 3-point drop is largely just noise. He’s always been an up and down shooter the last couple of years and he had more down streaks than ups this year.

It’s really not. TS% is so heavily weighted by 3-point shooting in today’s NBA for most players, so if you have a down shooting year, your “efficiency” is going to suffer. And 3-point shooting just tends to be erratic in general.

The idea of Sarr is that he can shoot. He has not really shown this yet and even has low FT%, but he still shoots. So I think the idea on paper is Trae as a facilitator and AD and Sarr complimenting each other on offense and defense with Sarr being the floor spacer.

Honestly I don’t know if Sarr is a good enough shooter for that. I don’t know if Sarr is actually good at all. What we do know is that he protects the rim, but blocks don’t tell the whole story on defense and the Wizards were so bad it’s impossible to tell if Sarr is putting up empty numbers or not.

Mehh, if AD plays 60 games that’d be a shock, they also have no incentive to play him over 30 minutes a game. You play Sarr equal minutes, that means the overlap for like12-15 minutes a game, I think Sarr’s 3 is good enough to play that many minutes at the 4 next to AD

I am not at all sold on him. Washington fans have really gotten on me. However Washington is terrible and just because you get a bit better on defense with Sarr on the floor doesn’t mean he has reached the threshold of “good” he isn’t efficient, he isn’t a good shooter when he shoots a lot.

I guess next year will be the real litmus test when they have Trae Young allowing perimeter players to blow by him while they have Sarr and AD available to make up for that and Trae might be able to create more for him as well. Also Washington will supposedly be trying to win.

Admittedly you can’t make a full judgement on Sarr because the team around him is so bad. However next year is a different story.

He’s a really elite floor raiser (when healthy). When lamelo is on court his team has 4.5%ts increase, 3.3% lower turnover rate, and 3.8% more offensive rebounds. Most of his shots are 3s so his fg% is low, but he has to be guarded well beyond the arc. That + Kon’s off ball gravity makes offense way easier for everyone.

He’s an offensive juggernaut. He’s kind of a blend between old school pass first point guard and new school score first point guard; a true combo guard. He can do either at a high level, and that’s rare even in the NBA. It’s certainly debatable, but he’s in the conversation for best court vision in the league also. He gets his guys open looks because he’s putting pressure on the rim from half court basically.

Essentially. He doesn’t create alot of his own shots like Jaylen and JT, and with Jrue and KP gone he has to fill in as the designated #3 and earlier he was the #2 which was causing him tk get tougher defense on him. He hits his shots when he can play off ball or have a good look, but he doesn’t have the best midrange and doesn’t drive often. He excels at D, floor spacing and creation, and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes on either side. He should settle back in hopefully with him going back down tk the #3 option on the court and even #4 if quetas post and dunker spot is open depending on the other teams C since JT and PP love to pass down low

You’re underrating White offensively by just looking at the stats. He stepped up this year to be the second option for most of the year as well as the primary ballhandler with no Tatum or Jrue. It came at the cost of shooting efficiency, but notably his turnovers remained low and his defense was as good as ever. This is why, despite the falloff in efficiency, advanced stats still rate White rather highly.

Our role players looked much better with Tatum getting all the attention. Losing him and Jrue pushed some role players into higher positions and they haven’t been as good.

Not saying White is trash. Advanced stats love him and he’s still very important to our team. Just that we’ve won 56 games with Brown and some role players playing above their capacity.

He’s a great defender and ball handler, but has been moved up a couple spots too high in the scoring role due to Tatum/Jrue/KP losses. He’s a great 3rd/4th option when he’s getting open looks as the other guys draw attention. He’s inconsistent as the 2nd option.
